HiddenSpirit · 10/05/2004 07:47

lol LM it has been this thread that made me book that appointment If you want to get it done, go book an appointment today

(then I won't be the only one in pain )

LipstickMum · 10/05/2004 08:01

I'm so tempted! Thing is, I think my wax girl would freak out if she had to do it, she's only young blush wouldn't want to scare her! I need to source an experienced brazilian waxer in my area... I may google it

LipstickMum · 10/05/2004 08:01

Oh, and good luck today!!! What time is your appt???

HiddenSpirit · 10/05/2004 08:16

4.15pm straight after work lol

LipstickMum · 10/05/2004 08:31

I shall be thinking of you, well, not, obviously in too much detail, but will definitely be sending "no pain" vibes out!! Want a full report!

aloha · 10/05/2004 09:36

Scotsbird, so you have a brazilian after a c-section...doesn't that rather showcase your scar?

karenanne · 10/05/2004 09:41

i do my own at home but as im a pain chicken i use immac instead.lot less painful once youve done it the first time its not much bother to keep it up ,i just defuzz every other day stick it on before i have a shower for a while.i also have had 2 c sections the last only being in december but amazingly the scar has faded really well already so doesnt notice that much.just got to get rid of the last little bit of the belly now!lol

MammyShirl · 10/05/2004 09:48

i've kind of had a brazilian but asked her to leave a tiny patch as i removed it all before with immac and beleive me it didnt look like it used to when i was 9 - i thought it was horrible but needless to say my dh loved it. second time whne i got it waxed and left a bit, it really did hurt especiallu close to my... bits" (sorry) but i did feel so clean after especially after going to the loo, clean wipe and when done a wee it felt hotter like when you wee after swimming but the reason i didnt continue is the growing back stage - ouch and it looks horrible not to mention the ingrown hairs!!!! so now i just get a nice neat v, looks better - my dh would like more off - the day he gets his done ill do more!
i seem to be more hairy underneath these days much to me horror and beauticians never wax enough off, i asked one and she said that the cost would go up from £10 - £28 for a bit of bum hair!!! Its disgusting! Another thing, bikini line costs around £10 and upper lip (on you head) costs £8 - how does that make sense???

starry · 10/05/2004 16:32

MammyShirl - lol at 'upper lip (on your head' Just in case we weren't sure

HiddenSpirit · 10/05/2004 18:16

Well had it done

Yes it was painful, but only fleetingly and not as bad as I thought it was going to be

Only cost £7.50 and I've to give her a ring in a couple of weeks to see how it's going and book my next appointment.

So it gets a thumbs up from me

serenequeen · 10/05/2004 18:19

crikey, hiddenspirit, whereabouts are you? it would cost at least 4 x that at my local place...

LipstickMum · 10/05/2004 18:26

clapping hooray!!!!! £7.50??? my god that was cheap, will probably be about £25 here well done you!

starry · 10/05/2004 19:28

Did you wear your own knickers or put your legs on the therapists shoulders???? We want more details

HiddenSpirit · 10/05/2004 20:31

lol Starry, yep wore my own knickers, she didn't get a single bit of wax on them No legs over shoulders. Just got me to bend the leg of the side she was working on, put my knee flat with my foot against my other straight leg (like making a 4 IYSWIM).

The woman that did it is mobile but she also does it in her own home (decided it would be better if I went to her, save her carrying her massage table up 2 flights of stairs). I'm in Plymouth btw

Branster · 10/05/2004 20:49

this thread has been going on for so long and i've never had the courage to add to it. but here it goes. i do mine myself. not everytime i wax but most times. it helps that i'm not bad at pain and i've mastered the technique by now. it actually hurts much less than when i wax my legs (strange that). i have to say i do leave a bit on at the top because i found it looks really weird with none at all (very prepubescent which doesn't go with the rest of my appearance so i preffer it a bit more grown-up). the main reason i do it is because i never liked hair down there (especially at the back, it's very little but i don't like the idea of it at the back) and it feels so clean and neat. i absolutely love it. the secret is to wax small areas at a time, do it when you're absolutely certain you won't be disturbed (i.e. kids asleep), use talcum powder before applying the wax and use a small mirror towards the back. i wouldn't dream of having it done at a beauty parlour because i'm very shy like this. one thing i wish for though, is if men would have a trim too (god forbid, not a complete hair removal, it looks absolutely disgustig-had a boyfried years ago who experimented by shaving all his hair there and it totally put me off), life would be so much easier. don't you think?!

StuartC · 11/05/2004 12:59

Hidden Spirit - I'd have charged you only £5.....

Branster - what do you suggest as a trim for us chaps if an all-over is not to a woman's liking? Do you think only certain areas should be done or a number three everywhere?

Branster · 11/05/2004 13:05

in technical terms, i'd say, use scissors and keep the hair shortish, just trim the stray bits. well, short enough so it doesn't bother the lady when it's one of your lucky days! a natural look is better than what you'd get from using hair trimmers (ouch). but it's my own opinion. and don't have anything to drink before attempting such an operation if indeed you're planning on doing that.

Mermaid2 · 11/05/2004 13:07

Would love to have brazilian wax done but can't bring myself to do it (low pain threshhold well that's the excuse). Mind you things are kept pretty tidy IYSWIM - personal preference and hubbys.

Branster · 11/05/2004 13:08

what does IYSWIM mean?

LipstickMum · 11/05/2004 13:10

if you see what I mean

Branster · 11/05/2004 13:11
Grin
StuartC · 11/05/2004 13:12

Thanks for the info Branster - I'll keep you posted (or would that be OTT..)

Branster · 11/05/2004 13:16

yeah, let us know how it went! oh my god, if i knew men were reading this thread i wouldn't have written anything! my dh has no idea about my personal upkeep programme (i wouldn't dream of him knowing when i'm even plucking my eyebrows) as i thik men shouldn't worry about these details, ladies just look nice and neat because the fairies make sure of that!

LipstickMum · 11/05/2004 13:17

lol Branster, I'm afraid those days of my dp believing "I look like this all the time" are very much over

Branster · 11/05/2004 13:18

it doesn't matter lipstick, as long as he doesn't know when or how you're 'repairing' yourself it's OK
