As discussed by Bundle and myself off-board...who'd like to join us in creating a present for another Mner?
Ought to try and keep it a surprise for the recipient really so CAT me or Bundle if you would like more info.
All offers of help hugely appreciated, as before.

My MIL is absolutely appearing. Should be interesting.

tamum · 05/09/2006 21:19

Is she handy with a needle?

NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:20

No, she doesn't sew (or knit).

FIL sews, though. But will be busy keeping children entertained, if I know him.

MIL will tell us all how to do it, though. She's good at supervising.

Marina · 05/09/2006 21:20

Mum's the word NQC
Erm, I think bundy might be bringing her gruesome twosome as well, not sure yet
Dd is impressed with the purple yarn you also supplied tamum. She is, allegedly, going to knit a baby with it tomorrow. Sigh, if only it were that easy...
NQC, I can try and fob her off on dh if you would prefer. Please be honest. She won't go off to your friend's without me, I can be sure of that. She is happy in company with me around, but needs to see me nearby in unfamiliar settings at the mo.
She is not a scribbler, shredder or stealth wrecker though.

Ah. I see. Have you ever seen Harry Enfield?

NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:22

I have no problem with her coming, our house is pretty child-safe (shocker) and there is loads of room.

tamum · 05/09/2006 21:22

Oh hee hee Marina, that had me laughing out loud, bless her

Marina · 05/09/2006 21:22

So shall we all bring cakes and pick NQC's brains on some of the glorious sex tips for girls you have been providing on recent threads here NQC

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:22

Don't think I've seen any Harry Enfield that is relevant to my MIL. Not sure.

She's a perfectly nice person, but she makes me seem like a quiet shrinking violet sort of person, which those of you who have met me irl will realise isn't exactly true.

tamum · 05/09/2006 21:23

He used to do a father/FIL who always said "now, I don't believe you wanted to do it like that" and was constantly handing out unwanted advice. Just sounded a bit familiar!

NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:24

I am happy to provide sex tips for girls, but absolutely not if my MIL is anywhere around. She was horrified to infer that DH and I were having sex, premaritally. I believe she may be Victorian or something.

NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:24

Oh, no, my MIL is never as subtle as that. She's much more direct with her advice and information.

Marina · 05/09/2006 21:25

Annoying FIL who bustles round saying "You don't want to do it like that, you want to do it like this" and then proceeds to bodge things hideously.
She sounds quite a package NQC. You have got to say if you would prefer us to find a different venue, absolutely no hard feelings. Truly.

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:25

More a "no, you don't want to do it that way, you must do it this way ..."

NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:25

No no, I must be here for her coming, and having company and distraction is good.

Actually, I am being over the top, I am getting on with her much better these days, not least because I am letting her have DS1 for a few days at a time now.

NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:26

(And I forgave her for letting him listen to the Archers. I am a saint, aren't I?)

Marina · 05/09/2006 21:32

I can scent the odour of sanctity all the way over here NQC. OK, we'll be there - and if bundle brings her two it might give MIL something extra to get her teeth into. Dd is good and bossy too, we might be able to have bets on who cracks first

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 05/09/2006 21:47

Oh, good, she'll have more people to Sort Out, that will keep her under control.

She did once say that she thought DS1 was one of those terror three-year-olds, in that whole ASBOs-for-toddlers things.

Swizzler · 06/09/2006 11:26

Right, another square posted off today. If this one doensn't reach you, it's obviously fate

womblingalong · 06/09/2006 11:43

Marina,

My contribution met with the postbox yesterday, so hope it arrives today/tomorrow. Would love to help sew up, but will be away at a wedding, maybe next time?

Happy sewing, can't wait to see what it looks like all sewn up! Am most impressed with all the colours and patterns, bobbles and flowers/hearts you've been receiving.

thanks marina! i need some cheering up .

chubbleigh · 06/09/2006 22:03

Posted seven square this morning, I really hope they reach you in time, there has been a strike at Exeter sorting office which I might hold them up a bit.

Have any of you ever seen Titty Titty Bang Bang, just had a vision of you all sewing up this blanket knickerless!

Twiga · 06/09/2006 22:14

Marina, have emailed, should have something in post tomorrow/fri which is all very last min i know(sorry) - tough time on teething front, severe lack of sleep this last 12 days or so! Just working on plain stuff same as last time as easier to keep track of.
