As discussed by Bundle and myself off-board...who'd like to join us in creating a present for another Mner?
Ought to try and keep it a surprise for the recipient really so CAT me or Bundle if you would like more info.
All offers of help hugely appreciated, as before.

Have replied in brief Twiga, sorry about the teething woes
Thanks Chubbleigh, I will look forward to getting them!
And thanks to satine and womblingalong, who both sent some beauties in yesterday's post

Sorry, just seen the rest of your message young lady! I will so not be checking who has gone commando at our sewing bee on Sunday! The very thought!

Big beautiful consignment received today - thank you SueW, Kiskidee and Chubbleigh, who has spelled out the recipient's name in gorgeous knitted letters [impressed emoticon].
We have a LOT of squares now - thanks so much everyone!
Photos will follow of fully-dressed Mners assembling blanket on Sunday. Photo of NQC's MIL directing operations by request, off-board

Marina, thanks for email - three squares winging their way to you first thing tomorrow morning so will hopefully get to you for Saturday.

NotQuiteCockney · 08/09/2006 20:11

I've only got one square finished, myself, but am working on a double-wide (single height) bat one, at the moment.

Marina · 08/09/2006 20:39

Squares received from welshmum, thanks - they are lovely
NQC, we are well provided for on squares front so don't rush to do any more than that. Love the idea of the bat!

NotQuiteCockney · 09/09/2006 18:38

Pants. Bat is 15cm high and I haven't done the border yet. So I think I will probably do a fake short square above it, um, possibly purple and orange stripes? In garter stitch? I think? I'll see.

I'd like to do another pattern above the bat, also in the same colour, but can't seem to find anything appropriate. Maybe I'll keep digging.

bran · 09/09/2006 18:58

Hi, I will be coming tomorrow to sew up if that's still ok. I'll probably leave ds with dh unless dh has some sort of work emergency. Should I bring anything with me? And can you please just confirm that all mention of nudity is a joke, thanks.

NotQuiteCockney · 09/09/2006 19:00

There's nothing you need to bring, bran.

And I'll be exactly as nude as I've been every other time you've met me. HTH!

bran · 09/09/2006 19:02

NQC, people will talk.

Marina · 09/09/2006 20:16

. Actually the only likely nudist will be dd, who may well wish to strip off.
Great that you're coming too bran, thanks
So we have NQC and MIL, bundle plus 2 dds, me plus dd, bran and possibly Hoxty on tea-urn and digital camera.
This morning dh went to the PO and retrieved swizzler's beautiful flower square (wise move to send it recorded I guess swizzler, but the address was 100% correct so what happened to the first consignment I do not know )
We now have 75 squares not including bundle and NQC's efforts! Truly the Mother of All Blankets, thank you all so much
Look out for pictures and news of inpatient admissions as we sew so hard our fingers drop off....

tamum · 09/09/2006 20:17

Gosh, 75 squares is going to take quite some sewing

Are the colours going to be less gruesome together than some of our wilder imaginings on here?

hoxtonchick · 09/09/2006 20:28

yes, i may well come. can't sew though . is that ok nqc? will probably have my 2 with me.... will text you for details marina.

Marina · 09/09/2006 20:32

I think we can manage well with the piecing, tamum, honest. We have a lot of a pretty pink and light lilac, and only some very colourful ones (many are mine ). Chubbleigh's are white, Liesel's pale too, swizzler's is cream.
I think it will look great

OP posts:
wartywarthog · 09/09/2006 20:34

when the blanket's handed over and the secret's out, can you let us know who it's for please? i don't have a clue, but i'm sure it's a good cause!

tamum · 09/09/2006 20:34

It sounds wonderful, actually, and it will be a really good size too. Looking forward to seeing the pictures

Marina · 09/09/2006 20:36

Of course warty. Have I not sent you an e-mail about it at some point? {puzzled/addled emoticon)

It's that or learn to sew

hoxtonchick · 09/09/2006 20:39

can you teach me by e-mail tamum

robinpud · 09/09/2006 20:52

I am sending you virtual chocolate brownies for the sew in as you are much too far away for me to come which is a shame as I am ok ish at sewing. So have fun and thanks for sorting it all out.Robinpud xxx

LieselVonTrapp · 09/09/2006 21:24
