As discussed by Bundle and myself off-board...who'd like to join us in creating a present for another Mner?
Ought to try and keep it a surprise for the recipient really so CAT me or Bundle if you would like more info.
All offers of help hugely appreciated, as before.

Minor hijack - if you are going to do a 10 x 10 blanket, you could turn it into a 100 wishes blanket. There is a tradition in Chinese adoption circles to ask friends and family to contribute a piece of fabric and a wish for the child (written on paper obviously!).

This came from the tradition in northern China to welcome and celebrate a new life by making a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is the custom to invite 100 people to contribute a single square patch of cloth. The 100 patches are sewn together into a quilt that contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric.

Marina
I have done three squares which i will get off in post tomorrow to you. I am doing more.

Littlefish · 19/08/2006 22:46

Warty - I'm not sure if Marina is around at the moment, so in her absence, I'm going to say that of course you can help! The more, the merrier. I will forward on to you the e-mail she sent to me. I hope that's ok.

Gillian76 · 19/08/2006 22:50

Mine is coming out 16cms using 33 sts. Is that going to be a problem?

Littlefish · 19/08/2006 22:50

Warty - I've e-mailed you.

PinkTulips · 19/08/2006 22:54

OK done one but it is 16cm

Any good?

Gillian76 · 20/08/2006 13:47

Second attempt better. 30 sts and 40 rows = 15cm at my tension.

Twiga · 22/08/2006 21:35

hi, could someone fwd me the email too, don't have my info from last time. Am happy to CAT someone for the info if not able to Cat me IYSWIM - thanks!

Dottydot · 22/08/2006 21:48

I've only done 1 so far... Have got distracted painting the sodding living room - the whole house is in chaos - but so far no paint on the knitting so I'll get on with doing another one!

We're aiming for the end of this month, aren't we? I have done 2 but will try to get another couple done if I have a week or so more.

Littlefish · 23/08/2006 13:44

Marina has been poorly recently. I've just e-mailed her to let her know that there are lots of questions here for her!

womblingalong · 23/08/2006 15:03

Have belatedly just seen this thread, would like to knit a square or two. Have tried CAT, but can't do it from works computer, can someone please CAT me? I need the instructions/directions

TIA

Poorly is one thing (much better now, thanks littlefish but could have done without half the family getting a projectile vomiting bug the day I came out of hospital ) but forgetting to add this to my watch list was pretty stupid . So many apologies to people who have been waiting for me to turn up here again and answer questions.
So yes please, squares can be sent to me by the end of August if at all possible, so I can hopefully get the blanket assembled before school starts again. Not to worry if that is a bit tight for some of you, just send them asap.
I mailed you late last night Twiga, hope that got there. Lovely to hear from you again
I have now contacted you PinkTulips and Wombling Along, thank you both so much for expressing an interest, and SueJonez for such an interesting and lovely piece of info. You never know, we might get that far!
And finally a big thankyou to Robinpud whose lovely squares were first through the letterbox and especially to littlefish, who has been such a star in passing on requests for info etc. Much appreciated XXX

Glad to help. Sorry to hear about the vomit!

Littlefish · 24/08/2006 21:31

4 squares done. Will try and post them tomorrow. If not, it will have to be Tuesday, so they should be with you by next Thursday at the latest.

tissy · 24/08/2006 21:42

still got some of that lovely blue wool.

I'll knit a square or two...

haven't signed up for CAT, so do you still have my email address?

Marina · 25/08/2006 11:34

Hello, I will check Tissy. That would be great! Or I will CAT you.
Thanks littlefish, I'll look forward to getting them

OP posts:
Marina · 25/08/2006 11:36

wartywarthog · 25/08/2006 19:34

Hi Marina - I've knitted a few squares. Where do I send them? I think I've set CAT up (well, I've paid a fee), don't know how it works yet, so perhaps you could CAT me? Otherwise my email is wartywarthog at yahoo dot co dot uk.
Thanks
