As discussed by Bundle and myself off-board...who'd like to join us in creating a present for another Mner?
Ought to try and keep it a surprise for the recipient really so CAT me or Bundle if you would like more info.
All offers of help hugely appreciated, as before.

Marina - how are you doing for numbers? Have you got enough? Please let me know if you need more, and what sort (plain or fancy etc).

Marina · 31/08/2006 13:06

Hi littlefish, that's awfully kind but I think we will be fine. As the recipient is so little it doesn't need to be huge - what do you reckon? I have about 20 squares with the arrival this morning of JessaJam's and CorrieDale's lovely offerings and there are more in the pipeline I believe.
I will do a proper audit tonight and if I think we need another row/are a bit short will CAT you asap.

Marina. i have been on holiday till last night. my square is made up but ran out of time to post it. if you don't need it this time, i will save it for another mn blanket.

Swizzler · 31/08/2006 13:09

Did you get mine? Posted a few days ago but suspicious of Royal Mail effectiveness...

wartywarthog · 31/08/2006 13:12

i posted mine last tuesday...

Marina · 31/08/2006 13:12

Swizzler, I don't think so but could you remind me of its appearance? Some of them arrived when I was in hospital (momentarily) and I was not so on top of noting who sent what...
Send it, send it kiskidee ! If poss...no sewing up has happened yet, bundle and I are doing the dirty deed on September 10th, so there's still time, thanks

warty, safely received...scroll down a bit, it is buried in lavish praise for standard of handiwork! thanks

sorry marina!

Miaou · 31/08/2006 19:59

Marina: two rather bockety cream squares, one flower one heart design. Neither exactly 15cm as tension isn't my strong point

I have plenty of wool left, so if they go eaten in the post I can always make some more.

JessaJam · 01/09/2006 10:39

Thank you Marina for being so polite as to refer to my raggedly not-quite-square square as "lovely". Just gald it didn't unravel in the post (and that my hastily applied stamps were sufficient in the 'new regime'!!!).

Lua · 01/09/2006 10:50

Marina - Do you have enough squares?
I have yarn left, nit sure why I didn't thought about sending more than one to start with... {dohh emoticon}

As an aside - Thanks for getting me knitting again, you got me all excited about new projects and I just spent a little fortune in new funky yarns!

Marina · 01/09/2006 11:47

Hi all!

  1. First of all thanks to Franke - ds described your consignment received this morning as wunderbar, the only word of German he knows!
  2. Not sure who also sent me three very pretty sparkly squares in a yellow envelope from Glasgow - own up or CAT me if you prefer -
  3. as I will be sending the recipient of the blanket a card with all our MN names in it (unless you DON'T want this, in which case let me know asap, thanks)
  4. Lua, glad to have revived your interest in knitting it is a slippery slope though - I have a whole bottom-of-wardrobe filled with wool I have bought for "future projects"
  5. JessaJam, it is lovely, wonks and all perfect blankets can be bought in shops, ours is made by real knitters for the love of it
  6. Swizzler, I definitely have not had those yet , how awful. I was so hoping you'd say yours were sparkly (see above). They may still turn up though and as soon as they do I'll let you know.
  7. I did a trial layout last night and it already looked lovely and near cot-size with what I had then. It will be a perfect size once I have received the remaining ones in the pipeline.
  8. Hoxtonchick will be photographing the whole thing once done and we will post a picture somewhere on Mn, plus mail it to all concerned.
  9. Finally, if anyone is in London on Sunday 10th September and fancies a blanket-raising over coffee and cakes can they mail/CAT me asap? We had great fun doing this last time!

Marina - would love to come but really far away.
Wnat to say you are star for organizing this though - sounds fun but madness!

Littlefish- any chance you can get your last post deleted.... I think it supposed to remain unnamed....

LieselVonTrapp · 01/09/2006 15:39

Sorry Marina, three squares in a yellow envelope from Glasgow was me.

Marina · 01/09/2006 15:43

Thanks Liesel I did wonder if it might have been you!
And sorry that inevitably someone people can't come to the sewing bee because of distance
Mumsnet enables so much to happen across the miles but not blanket-sewing alas.

Marina · 01/09/2006 15:46

Littlefish - not sure if you are around too much but I have contacted MNHQ to ask for your message to be deleted purely because of the name in it.
I nearly did it myself yesterday, and we're going to have to tell her sometime, mind you

chubbleigh · 01/09/2006 17:41

Marina, I have just about finished my contribution of 6 squares. Could you please CAT me with your address. Thanks.

Littlefish · 01/09/2006 18:21

Oh Pooooooo - so sorry everyone. I just didn't think.

Marina · 01/09/2006 19:25

Stop fretting littlefish
Thirty-two squares and counting!

tissy · 01/09/2006 19:28

Marina, so sorry, snowed under at work at the moment! What's the deadline?

Marina · 01/09/2006 19:30

sew-up on 10th September so if you are fast and find you have the time, then it isn't too late tissy! But no worries otherwise. With hindsight it is not a quiet time of year for many parents
