Hi

OP posts:
julie4travel · 11/07/2006 11:23

princessmel- my dd doesn't realise yet as she is only just turning three next month. I keep it quiet really with the kids. my dd knows he is a model and sometimes will get picked for work and sometimes not. My dd says she wants to do photos like my ds yet has had no expereince doing it.

I think that wil be the same in the future anyone if one gets hobs and the other doesn't so they will have to learn I suppose!

julie4travel · 11/07/2006 11:27

housemum- have a look at lots of tv agencies they are the ones i contacted and found it hard to get info on them etc.(it was harder to get info on them than teh modelling) They both wanted my dd yet i purely booked the cs appaointment as i could combine the assesemnt with a Norrie carr assesment aswell. I did see a picture of someone from Coronation street on Caroles wall as one of her actress's. Hopefully will see a lot more when the website is updated. Its nice when you can recognise the faces from Tv shows they get the work!

PrincessMel - The only advice I can give is to try. Give Rascals a shot if you can manage it. So much has been written about NOT paying fees up-front but some of the top agencies do so - take it with a grain of salt. Just stay away from Models Direct (the whole "Watchdog" thing, ya know?). Chase up B&B as well - it can take a while for them to get back to you so giving them a "hello" might be in order. Good luck today! Remember - Don't give up because the agency said "no". Submit photos again in a several months - children change and so do agency's requirements.

Mimi - I still haven't seen the advert. Drat.

Tiger - good to see you back! I know what you mean about being able to keep up with what is going on re:castings/jobs etc!

princessmel · 11/07/2006 11:27

Thats very true Julie. At least if dd does do it in the future she'll have a really good knowledge of how it all works from her bro!

princessmel · 11/07/2006 11:33

Hi 2manypimms, I will speak to my dh and see if he can help me with getting to the Rascals thing but not sure if its worth it if he won't want us to go with them. Have you seen rascals children at any jobs you've been to? How about bizzykids kids? Thay don't do an interview till you've paid and that makes me unsure.
I rang BB twice yest and emailed new pics so fingers crossed.

mrratty · 11/07/2006 11:42

With all of the recommendations B&B have on here I wouldn't be surprised if they had a full inbox!

2ManyPimms · 11/07/2006 11:45

Princess - If I recall correctly, I ran into a Rascals kid at a John Lewis casting. I think that BK had a child or two at an audition for an E4 "ident". DS has only done two photographic jobs and in both he was on his own. For the Ident filming there were kids from B&B, Stagecoach and Expressions. Sorry I can't be of more assistance! Good luck with B&B! Keep us posted with your decision.

princessmel · 11/07/2006 12:03

Hi, We've decided to put Rascals off for now. Not going to be able to make it with Cubs, tea etc. I hope its the right decision. I'll wait a bit longer for decisions from BB, Kids and Bubblegum and think a bit more about BK. I may just go with them as they are not sole rep and its a one off fee. I can always change my mind if get a yes from somewhere else. Thanks for help Julie and Pimms.

strawberrymilkshake · 11/07/2006 12:14

Hi everyone.

Julie >> did you e mail carole. I hope it is on tomorrow cant wait to see pictures.

julie4travel · 11/07/2006 12:24

strwb- no i rung and spoke to a bloke called Jacob. Apparently they are meeting with teh web person tonight to double check it all and all being well it will be updated tommorow (she says!) fingers crossed. any luck on work recently? we havn't had anything yet from cs. By the way do you have the sole rep issue at all with any of the agents you are with? going to see ts on sat and wondering what will be said if i say we are with a tv agency. I think they are sole rep.

julie4travel · 11/07/2006 12:37

princessmel- good luck in whatever you decide and i hope you get lots of work whoever you go with. you must post any jobs etc you get on here to show how well you are doing.

princessmel · 11/07/2006 12:40

Thanks Julie, I will def keep you up to date. It makes me feel better having people to share this with as nobody else is that supportive. They prob will be when DD is in all the mags tho!

strawberrymilkshake · 11/07/2006 12:47

Julie>> no i have no trouble as i told carole about other agencie and she said as long as its photographic work she dosnt mind. carole is sole rep for tv, film, vo etc.

DD had an appointment for ts but i thought fees are much to high and i think they are sole rep also dd was accepted by ua but they said that they would not have her with another agency.

About bk as well dd has been with them for 3 months has been to 1 casting been put forward for buberry, nanny web which she didnt get and has has 1 job that i know of so they are definatley working for us and i find them really nice people. So far we are happy.

julie4travel · 11/07/2006 12:48

princessmel- my family think its silly aswell saying why do we do it. Last year Scallywags fees were over £100 odd pounds and the one job he did earnt him £100 so it didn't really pay last year. They have commented why yet I think he was just unlucky last year. the one job he did he was perfect and in and out in 20 mins yet paid the min 2 hours. We looked at it as a day out as we don't live in London so we went to the Thames etc and he loved it. Also our drs letter costed us £25 which we had to get with that one and train ticket so the earnings was low (all in all) He loves doing the photos etc so i just see it as if he enjoys it why not and whatever he earns is for his future anyway. I am self employed so have the flexibility to go to jobs at the drop of a hat so who knows! My friend with earnings have obviously been a lot higher than my ds. Her little ones have done adverts, tvs , photos etc so they are building up a little nestegg for their future! You never know unless you try thats my theory

princessmel · 11/07/2006 12:50

Strawberry> Thats nice to know about BK, thanks for info.

julie4travel · 11/07/2006 12:52

strawb- do MOT not do tv work ? are they not sole rep then?

think its going to be decision time for me Norrie carr and TS after the weekend. I hope they take my dd on as i dont have all the options like i do with my ds

princessmel · 11/07/2006 12:58

I aggree Julie, Everyone thinks that all agencies are scams and that its all a waste of time. I think that any money earnt ( which i know prob won't be loads) will go into their banks for their futures. Also I would just love to see them in and on things. I want to show them off. I'm v proud of them! Obviously, if they don't enjoy it we would stop. Its the same for us about not living in London, I would treat visits in as an excuse for a daytrip.

strawberrymilkshake · 11/07/2006 12:58

Julie >> I think MOT are mainly photographic and they are not sole rep.

strawberrymilkshake · 11/07/2006 12:59

princessmel · 11/07/2006 13:02

twinmumma · 11/07/2006 13:03

Hi everyone.
wow - what a long thread!! If you miss a day (or 2) - you miss such a lot!
Thank you for your replies on Sunday. Educating rita - thank you. have applied to MOT and awaiting response.
LindaC - will give pctheatrical/twinagency a go. Sounds great.
My hubby is such a cynic... told him about the advice etc that I have been getting from this site and he thinks everyone is working for agencies and trying to sell themselves. The rupertbear argument has therefore been making me chuckle - others obviously have same suspicions!! Have tried to explain to him that everyone is v helpful - but think he is worried about fee paying up front and getting ripped off. Also worried as we live in Devon and doesn't want to be gallavanting around in vain, getting no jobs!
Thanks for advice everyone. Anyone have a list of which agencies don't charge up front?
OR a list of who are sole agencies/not sole agencies - that would be helpful.
What a long message - sorry. Twins are asleep - got to make the most of it!!!!

Marne · 11/07/2006 13:05

Hi, sorry to but in, but just wanted to ask you girls a few questions, i would love to model my girls but hav'nt got a clue how to go about it,

Do all agencies charge you to model?

Which agencies are good which are bad?

How do i find an agencie?

How far do you have to travel to a shoot?

Is there anything else i need to know before i start?

Who are B&B?

princessmel · 11/07/2006 13:07

Are all husbands cynics? Mine def is but he'd really love her to get work with a reputable agency. Supportive in that respect, just wary.

strawberrymilkshake · 11/07/2006 13:12

B&B are bruce and brown. The best way to find an agency is to search the web if you go onto Alba site they give you a list of Modelling agencies that are legit. I know bizzy kids and MOT are not sole rep. Urban Angels are sole rep. Firstly you have to send the agencies to snap shots of your child one head shot and a full length and then you just sit back and wait to hear it they want your child. Some agencies charge a fee for admin some you have to pay a lot more personally i wouldnt pay out a lot expecially if they want money every year. MOT do not charge anything. But you will have to pay for photos later if you want to go into model book.
