Please can anybody advise me on the modeling agency tuesday child before i accept a position for my son on they books

perfumelady · 17/11/2005 12:07

sonya1975, i found this posting dating feb this year, hope this helps

My eldest DD was a member of Tuesdays Child in Macclesfield, Cheshire when she was 7 months to about a year old. Found them really good! She got jobs in the 1st week of joining and appeared in the Tesco Catalogue, Argos Additions, Choice catalogue and Freemans all within a short space of time. I stopped when she became a bit more 'lively' when she learnt to walk at 10 months! She loves seeing her pics in the catalogues now that she's 5 and I'm toying with the idea of enlisting my youngest DD. It's hard work though. I used to get calls as late as 10 at night to ask me to be at a job or audition 70miles away by 10 the next morning. It was often difficult to find the studio in a strange town. I found, talking to friends that if you turned too many jobs down, they wouldn't contact you much again. They certainly kept me on my toes. We had to be sure to send in EVERY measurement monthly. We WERE NOT allowed to ring the agency between certain hours as we might block a client from getting through... VERY strict on a number of things!! Saying this, we both enjoyed it and seeing your childs picture in a high street shop is fantastic!! I'm still careful who I tell about the modeling as I've had mixed reaction - But, as long as the child is happy doing it, that's fine by me. DD has a little nest egg in her savings account. Definitly recommend it!!

Hi All!!! Blimey you have all been busy! Back from my hols and there's tons of postings!
I'm gonna be here forever addressing people individually but 1. CASTING/ JOBS IN SCHOOL TIME. I have found that it doesn't matter if its school time or school holidays we have had plenty of jobs or casting, although have found that more castings are in the holidays. I now only do castings in the holidays and booked jobs in school time, Im really lucky with my daughters school, they are happy for her to do it, as they see it as a school acheivement ( typical though who does all the running about!!) and she'e 11, although she is due to do her stats in May so will tell agencies NO work in May, ( that'll keep school happy!) and my doctors are fab, doctors letters every 6 months for my 2 girls and no charge!!!
LOCATIONS FOR JOBS/CASTINGS. My 2 girls have done over 30 job between them, and only once has it been in the same place( except for toys r us shoots which are in the same place!) I have been all over london, Derby, skegness you name it. Often I don't even get 24 hours so is a mare. 3. CHARGING FOR ASSESSMENTS.Why are you paying for assessments? Yep may be good agency, but what a way to make money! Agencies should NOT be charging parents for assessments, I had a chat with a booker from MOT Models who said that it was boardering against the law to charge an assessment fee, they chose to take on your kids they are the agencies future income, so if they have the look that their clients will use, they will most definetly make tons of dosh! Also I wouldn't pay for an entry into the modelling book, very good agencies will charge approx £60 a year, though will take this out off your childs 1 st paid job, this way, the agency are very likely to find you jobs to reinburse your money. The only fees you should pay are for you pics between £45-£80 but for this you should get the contact sheet and at least one 10x8ins picture of your choice. Also I have found that whilst the model books are good, the majority of the jobs my daughter's gets are direct bookings from her pic on the web-site!
Cor blimey, hope this has helped! Happy modelling to you all! x

does any one know what being a body double in a commercial is?

loopyredangel · 17/11/2005 23:19

My baby boy has been offered a contract with Eurokids, does anybody have info about them or can recommend?
Models direct are interested too, any info gratefully received!

hahahehe · 18/11/2005 08:36

Hi perfumelady, Ohhhh intersting question....
I thought on commercials they usually had a 'standby' just in case the first choice child was ill/awkward/didn't turn up. But didn't think they were called a body double. A body double sounds like something a stunt man does!!! Does your little one do gymnastics or anything?? I am guessing you have been approached about this? Anyone been one before???

tinkerbellchelle · 18/11/2005 09:00

Hello everyone. All is good finally all the licence stuff is now sorted so hopefully as and when work comes along we will be ready.
Hope everyone's little ones are ok?

I was gonna say a body double sounds like something for stunt people....?

x

Wonders will never cease! DS's headmistress had a child in the "business" so she is completely supportive and aware of time demands. You could have knocked me over with a feather.

Got in touch with Jabberwocky - they sound great! At the moment they have few children around DS's age on the books and I sent out his photo but I am not sure if he is what they are looking for...

Thinking again about Norrie Carr after Manicma's posting. Tempted to take him for an assessment but hmmmmmm.....fees!

Welcome back Manicma! Thanks for your input!

sh11 · 18/11/2005 15:13

hi, new here have read through every single comment in this thread, interesting my baby has been accepted by modelsdirect, bizzykids, cheekykids, BMA, BrightSparks and Urban Angels.

We will definately not go with modelsdirect, very pleased about bizzykids and urbanangels though, dont know much about the other 3. any advise welcome.

hahahehe · 18/11/2005 15:53

Hi sh11, Welcome to the board- Must have taken you ages to get through all the postings!!!! But most of it is helpful, especially if you are in the process of choosing an agency. We only have experience of Bizzykidz and MOT not any of the others - must admit not heard of cheekykids/bma or brightsparks so can't make any comment. Have heard excellent things about Urban Angels - a friends young baby has had loads of work with them and they don't seem to take many kids on....so well done to your little one! How old are they???? Personally for us Bizzykidz have been good and we have had a couple of auditions and a couple of jobs in a space of 5 months. I am happy with the way the operate - but its such a personal choice its best to go with your gut instinct........
sorry I've not really helped....justed wanted to welcome you really!!! speak to you soon no doubt!

tinkerbellchelle · 18/11/2005 16:14

Hello SH11 We are with bizzykidz we have been with them about a month now and they have been BRILLIANT to deal with. Personally for us they are brilliant they are so friendly.

WELCOME to the board by the way

totallyfloaty35 · 18/11/2005 16:17

Hi All, this is an interesting site, my girls have been asked to join Kids London,Urban Angels, Bruce & Brown and Rascals. I dont know who to go with, been hearing alot about Bizzy Kids but got turned down by them, any reccomendations would be gratefuly recieved

CadburyGirl · 18/11/2005 16:38

TotallyFloaty - it sounds like you've been offered places with some of the best agencies. Also, I don't think Bruce & Brown charge.

hahahehe · 18/11/2005 16:48

toatllyfloaty - wow lucky you.....such a choice of excellent agents, your girls are in demand!! There have been excellent reports on here about all of them at some point or another. As already said....I would favour Bruce & Brown as there is no upfront fee. Wish you luck in your choice......i would want to choose them all - but unfortunately not possible!! Let us know how you get on!

tinkerbellchelle · 18/11/2005 16:57

totallyfloaty, hello and welcome. You have a very good choice of agencies I dont have any personal experience of them, however have heard good things about bruce and brown and urban angels.
Good luck and nice to have another mummy on the site xx

sh11 · 18/11/2005 17:28

Thanks hahahehe and tinkerbellechelle for the warm welcome, my son is 4 months. i'm waiting to hear from kidslondon and rascals, I was just wondering hahaheehe wrote:
i would want to choose them all - but unfortunately not possible!! do you have to stick with one, bizzykids dont mind if youre with others but is there a limit on how many you can be with if they dont mind cos we've already joined bizzykids, thinking about urban' but i definately want to be with kidslondon if accepted. Not sure what to do cos scallywags open their book in jan 06. sorry about confusing you all - please advise

hahahehe · 18/11/2005 17:51

Sh11 - there is such a choice isn't there??? Bizzykidz do not tie you down to 'sole representation' as they cannot guarentee you work (just like nobody can!) but some agencys do request 'sole representation' so as not to send you to the same castings that another agent does. I know that Kids London do and Truly Scrumptious do as well - not sure about the others - you would need to ask them! Also, the more agents you are with the more expensive it gets (model books, photo sessions etc,)
Urban Angels seem to be good for babies having looked at there recent work (lots of baby mags/catalogues etc). GOSH ....haven't helped at all have I??!!!! Sorry!

totallyfloaty35 · 18/11/2005 18:22

Thanks for the nice welcome, all the agencies want sole rep and Kids London charge commission if another agency gets you work.I like Urban Angels but my girls are 7 & 10 and they seem to do lots of baby stuff. The agency i really loved the sound of was MOT JUNIOR but i never heard anything back from them at all.Do any of you nice mums out there have older kids modelling?

marymay · 19/11/2005 18:19

hi totallyfloaty35.my little girl is 9 and has just joined urban angels .which is sole rep.i was also a little worried about them doing lots of baby stuff .the good thing is that i know marks and spencers boots and a lot of the girls mags use them.so if she just gets a couple of jobs they should be good ones.she was asked to join bizzy kidz but i just liked urban angels.hope your little girls do well and have fun which ever agency you pick.

crunchie · 19/11/2005 18:51

MOTJUNIOR is fantastic, but they hardly ever take kids on. IME (or what I was told) was that they get 20 enquires/photos a DAY and they take on one child a MONTH (if that) they also won't take you on if they feel they have other kids who are of a similar type to yours.

My kids get as much work as we would like only we turn down most jobs, due to school etc. But tbh modelling is a pain in the every year I decide I am giving up, but I ONLY do jobs in the holidays, and I don't do castings. This limits us hugely as we would do so much more if we wanted.

perfumelady · 19/11/2005 21:15

sh11 my dd has just been set up with urban angels had a call already!!! trouble is if you have already joined bizzy kids you would have to make a choice between the two because with urban angels you can only be represented by them and you do have to sign a contract which has that stipulation in it. if you have set up with bizzy kidz why would you want another agency? only ask because bizzy kidz have a good reputation and do seem to get work for there children

hahahehe · 19/11/2005 23:13

Oh wow,
well done perfumelady.......did you find out what a body double was??????

hahahehe · 20/11/2005 10:49

Totallyfloaty - maybe drop MOT an email or something as I am sure they would respond one way or another and not just ignore you......your original may have got lost in the post. Crunchie is right about them being selective but I think this is true of ALL the agencies - they all get hundreds of enquiries a week but they will only offer a place to children who they have a space for so they can get work for them as its their income!! Plus most of them take a small joining fee from your first job so its in their interests to get you work! Its a hard descision isn't it????

perfumelady · 20/11/2005 12:37

hi hahahehe, thanks. yes a body double is where they film non facial footage (very simular to stuntmen/women but without the dangerous stunts) for example say the actor from the film or commercial is in a swimming scene but can't swim, they would get a body double to do it but without facial shots. so now we all know, not so sure you would get the same proudness that you would if it was your dd's face, not so sure about this one!?

tinkerbellchelle · 20/11/2005 19:30

Hello everyone, we had a model book photo shoot with bizzykidz today and it was really good fun It went really well out our DS was brilliant he was so well behaved and they had all the photos they needed in about 15 mins and they said the majority were really good Bless Him
It was good that it was also set out like a casting as it gave us a good idea of how they work.

Hope everyone is well
xx
