lets all try to make our points without becoming personal please.
Making comments about the way someone writes etc is personal as well as name calling.

Just to add, evidence from chat rooms and forums can and have been used in court cases.

ModeratorChamps · 30/03/2005 15:04

btw, not in no way defending any poster per se, and realise that some posters are trolls but still... lets be nice.

florenceflying · 30/03/2005 19:21

Thank you moderator.
Can you please tell me if this chatroom is only for mums and dads or for everybody?
As I understood this site was only for parents to help parents.
As I paid £94.00 for joining the model agency and my son was never called for a job I felt the responsability to let other parents know.
I am not working at the moment and £94.00 is a lot of money for me and I believe is a lot of money for a lot of people in my same situation.
This agency let us hope and dream that our life will change, that our kids will get work.
You start making plans to put money away for their studies and for when they grow. You start thinking they will have a better chance in life of what you had.
Than you pay the money and wait, wait...wait .
The days become weeks and the weeks months and nothing... silence.
You contact them and they tell you that they cannot tell you anything but that they are working on it.
I am sorry but after what happened with models direct I do not believe them.
Can you blame me?
I lost hope but I sincerely don't want to see other people do the same mistake.
People can read my posting and decide it is rubbish or they can really think about it as I am making no money out of it and I have everything to loose just exposing myself.
Take it or leave it this are my experiences.
Other mums had other experiences, and I am happy for who succeeded.
Bless you all.

catoe have you heard from kidz yet, i got some great photos back.

ModeratorChamps · 31/03/2005 19:17

florenceflying -- the website as said in the border picture up top was made by parents for parents. However, many wonderful people who may not be parents eg, nannies, chidminders, teachers, media people etc use this site also.
As with any free website/ chat room anybody can access it and use it. Even people who are not who they say they are. Which is why it is very important to use internet safety whist on the net.

natsy · 01/04/2005 14:33

all this arguement is a bit stupid considering we are all adults. now lets get back to the purpose of this chat room talking and disscussing child modelling .
i am considering applying my child for urban angels agency any mums have kids with this agency ?

JBMUM · 01/04/2005 18:01

Florence, you really must be a little more realistic about modeling. It is very rare that any child will become the next world superstar and change your life forever anyway. Parents should go into this as a hobby. It should be treated professionally too, but to expect that they are going to earn you thousands of pounds and pay for their own University fees when they get older, is being slightly optimistic isn't it. Especially if you say your son is not the best looking?....Just a thought.....

BOOKER · 01/04/2005 18:12

In reply, this is a chatroom and as a member of the public, anyone has the right to use this chatroom and in a democratic society, have the right to reply. If any person seriously thinks that an anonymous person can post untrue remarks about any person and then not expect that person to respond to set the record straight, then they are truly misinformed. We do not need to respond as, yes, we are a reputable company, however, when I have parents calling me and demanding that I do respond, then I feel I have a duty to honour those requests, which I have done.

I would like to ask Florenceflying, especially due to her having supposed proof of whatever it is she is trying to explain she has, whether she herself would care to disclose her identity, whilst also providing proof that she herself does not work for another agency, just as she has asked of another mum. I would be interested in your response Florence, as I too smell something fishy, but apologise if I am wrong of course......

Anyway, enough of the tennis postings, as I cannot see that anything constructive can be achieved from such time wasting activities. As already suggested, we do not need to reply, nor be concerned by any discussions, but have merely done so to appease any concerns that were posted and in a professional manner. Our duty, as a reputable company, is to protect our company name, whilst also protecting the industry we work in as a whole.

I think that my input into this chatroom should end here, given that I have satisfactorily responded to that which was brought to my attention, only to say that if anyone is unsure as to how to find a good agency, then the best place to search would be in a publication that is distributed solely to clients, which only good agencies would advertise in. There are many available, but only to clients, with the most popular publication that Production Managers and Directors being The Knowledge. It is not cheap to advertise in these publications and agencies normally have to detail credits that their agency has achieved for the artists on their books (i.e. work they have gained), before being able to advertise with them. The website for The Knowledge is www.theknowledgeonline.com . You will need to register to enter the site, which will give you limited access for a certain period of time, but once you do gain access, you will be able to see a list of reputable agencies that do advertise with them. The fact that this publication is used exclusively by the industry is evidence in itself that those advertising in it must be known to others in the industry, which is the concern that parents should address before approaching any agency to join.

Good luck to all, whichever agency you decide to approach, as there are many good ones out there that work tirelessly for their children!!

Have a good weekend

Just to reiterate what modchamps has said, this website is called mumsnet purely because it was a trio of mums who set it up. It is for everyone to use , and covers a whole range of topics. Please also remember that this is a public forum, anyone can access it and view all the threads, you only have to be a member to post. You never know who is reading, and therefore with that in mind, please be careful wrt what you want to say.

Best wishes

utopia2004 · 08/04/2005 21:26

Hiya

After reading this thread i feel compelled to voice my opinion.
Florenceflying has the right to share her experiances as does anyone else who wishes to do so. The point in threads like this is to exchange advise and experiances with others so that people can make up thier own minds as to where they want to go from there. And there is such a thing as freedom of speach!!

THE POSIVITVE comments on here about BIZZYKIDZ by far outweigh the NEGATIVE, so why 'BOOKER' and 'JBMUM' are you so bothered about one comment? So why would people be concerned? when the comments are mainly positive. Booker you responded to the florences post on the exact same day which suggests you are probally monatering this site, and i haven't seen models direct on this site acting so defensively and after all the bad stuff said about them.

Im sorry but you cant expect people not to become suspious.
I myself am suspious anyway of model agencies because the internet makes it so easy for phoney ones to set up. So us parents need websites like this so we can make the right decision, we need to be protected against scams, especially when the decision concerns children.

JBMUM, there is no need to get personal this isn't an ENGLISH EXAM. She still got her point across, commenting on someones english is just petty and there is no need for it!

No ones going to take one comment as gosball, it just helps!!

cheersxxx

utopia2004 · 08/04/2005 22:23

Oh and one other thing don't you think you can get biased information when talking about concerns to an agency as opposed to talking to parents!!

xx

jenni2oo5 · 09/04/2005 23:20

Hi all does anyone know of any agencies in scotland ,well more glasgow. Or do other agencies take on kis from further away?

Thanks Jenni & Kyle (1 yo)

Kidstrack2 · 11/04/2005 22:34

Yeah I know a modelling agency a reputiable one who ripped me off big style! People used to stop me in the street and say you have the most beautiful children,Thanks was my reply to everyone that stopped to admire them. But one day a lovely lady said oh they should be on telly, yeah I thought to scare people from watching it was my reply, no really you should contact this modelling agency I know of. So I contacted the agency and they were very nice, sent some photographs and they wanted my dd at 5 months to join but they wanted admin costs to cover her for three years! I said I would think about it over a few days. Well I never had time to think to myself as they pestered me on the phone for the next seven days saying oh what lovely eyes she has she has the most angelic face. We don't have many babies on our books she said oh I said how many do you have and how often would dd get work. We only have about 5 babies she said so If you are willing to travel to Edinburgh she would get loads of work. I discussed it with dp and he said ok lets just pay the 116 pound so we did and they sent dd registration card with picture and I registered her on the site too. Needless to say the phone calls stopped once they had her on thier books, its now two years since we registered and no offers for modelling have ever happened and to top it off they want another 50 pound to upgrade her on the web site, for what exactly to rip me off again!

trace2 · 12/04/2005 13:12

kidstrack2 who was it

florenceflying · 13/04/2005 08:50

It sound like models direct

florenceflying · 13/04/2005 08:53

I think we should all open a free website where companies can look direct and have our children on it like they do in America.
Mumsnet should have an extention where we can post our children pictures and we could send companies e mails to tell them to look in it.
Everybody will have a chance in it and companies will not rip us off anymore.

Kidstrack2 · 13/04/2005 22:17

Yeah you are right there ff. And you were also right about the company too! Just didn't know whether I could name them or not!

trace2 · 14/04/2005 17:38

gone quiet out there, my j not done any jobs for two months, is this a quiet time its my first year.

florenceflying · 14/04/2005 19:02

They were on watchdog I think not long ago.
I have a recorded conversation with one of their representative and I tell you they laughed when I told them I was going to watchdog.
The only think they did not know I was recording.
They did not laugh anymore after I told them it was on tape

trace2 · 14/04/2005 19:56

trace2 · 14/04/2005 20:07

trace2 · 14/04/2005 20:57

catoe have you heard from kidz yet

MUM007 · 17/04/2005 13:26

Florence flying it would not be a good idea to start posting pics of your children on the website as you do not know who are looking at them. This is the reason you use an agency so everything is controlled and the agencies only let reptuable companies see the children.Surely you cannot be that desperate for your child to get into modelling that you would consider using this sort of method. It is very interesting that I read that you yet again talk about recording another agencies conversation and threaten them with Watchdog. This is exactly the same method you used with Bizzykidz. For all those that are panning Bizzykidz for replying on this website and imply that they are regulary reading these threads I was one of the mums who informed them of the comments by Florence Flying that had been posted on this site.Bizzykidz were more concerned about the parents of children who were already on their books rather than thinking they would lose any future business.JBMUM has had good experiences with Bizzykidz and it was also in her right to put her positive comments forward while defending an agency that has worked for her.Florence Flying you have mentioned further down the thread you were also accepted by Elisabeth Smith so perhaps you should put your child with them and i would be interested to know of your results. What you must remember is that your child is not going to become famous by appearing in an advert or magazine. It will just be a nice memory for them and you when they are older.

Mirage · 17/04/2005 14:43

I don't want to get involved with all the ins & outs of different agencies, but I was of the understanding that it is illegal to tape a conversation with someone unless they were aware of the fact beforehand? Isn't that why some companies have a recorded message saying that phonecalls may be recorded for security/staff training reasons?

mrratty · 19/04/2005 14:09
