What worries me is when you see open castings in papers and they are held at hotels. You need to know where they are based and that they are legite. Auditions for castings are held at hotels and they are legite but not castings for agencies. Also zocha's child may have the look that the studios want and I know that w have been busy so maybe mine has the "look" or personality but that is no guarantee that work will keep coming in for our little ones. What we all keep forgetting is that modelling is not a normal type of business/job. Nasty are you loojking at other agencies cos you have not had work with BK ? Zocha the only thing that worries me about BK is that you are allowed to be with other agencies so wot do you do if you are called up for work from both agencies who do you then represent ???

MUM007 · 17/02/2005 10:43

Kazza I agree with you that a child has to have "the look" My D is not the blonde haired blue eyed child that they seem to like. She has blonde hair and big brown eyes{which i think is gorgeous}but I think the blue eyed kids have the advantage.Thats just my opinion but blue eyes works betterin photos.Do you agree? Thats why i dont hold out for her getting too much work. But then it all depends on what they are casting for i suppose.

meysey · 17/02/2005 12:52

Bizzykidz may be great for some people but we never got a single casting in months.

MUM007 · 17/02/2005 13:53

How long were you with them?

kazza3 · 17/02/2005 14:29

I dont really think that blue are better than brown. In my very short experience it was more th babies behaviour and personality. I have seen the most beautiful baby been asked to leave because he wouldn't settle ! At the end of the day if BK works for you that's great but if you are a mum that doesn't know who to choose then you can buy the baby magazines because they sometimes list the model agencies they use. Today I did the proud mother bit by buying 4 copies of Junior Pregnancy and Baby mag cos my little one is in it and it listed ES having supplied 4 babies, Urban Angels, Bruce and Brown, MOT and Kids London all supplied one. You can also call catalogues and ask what agencies they use. Like I said b4 I do worry that BK are taking on lots of babies/children although they may not be all put on the web and surely it is better to be told that your baby has not got what they want at the moment then be given a "false hope". There are lots of mums who are with BK who have not had work. Also if you allow mothers to sign their babies with lots of agencies then who are you representing ???

MUM007 · 17/02/2005 15:12

What a great feeling it must be seeing your little one in a magazine,My D is 7 she is a little star to me.This is what she wants to do.To be honest she does not know she is with BK because if nothing comes of it there is no dissapointent to her.I dont want her at her young age to get a complex about the whole image thing. If nothing comes of BK then I would not try anywhere else because I am sure that really the same clients see all of these kids from diff agencies and you cant keep changing agencies in the hope of getting chosen. The way I look on it is a fee of £94 for the next ten years is not a lot of money to lose.At the end of the day its the client and not the agency that picks the children and like you there are success stories.I think its all about being realistic.

kazza3 · 17/02/2005 16:58

Mum007 did you try other agencies ?????

MUM007 · 17/02/2005 21:08

I was accepted by ES too but decided to go with BK because thought it would suit her better.

mrratty · 18/02/2005 15:02

Can you really blame the agency if you go for months without work?

Can it not simply be that your child's "look" is not suiting the client needs at present????

And if you are not in it to earn money, why else are you doing it?
My reasoning is to do it whilst dd is young to help build some savings for her future. Don't get me wrong, its great to see pics of your kid in magazines and be the proud parent for a while, but it hardly essential to a child's development is it? If i thought for a minute my dd didn't enjoy it, or if it was affecting her negatively i would put a stop to it. And i do not intend it to continue for many years.

Just interested to hear others reasons for doing it?

kazza3 · 19/02/2005 13:11

I always said that if ES turned me down then I wouldn't bother like Fran said maybe your little one isn't exactly what the agencies want at the moment. The reason I went with ES was cos I heard of them and if I have heard of them then casting agents/studios will know them. Why did we d it well it wasnt for the money. If you think you can earn enough for your little one to go to uni. etc. then you may be disappointed as only a very few will be lucky enough to earn big money!! REmember by the time out little ones go to uni. it will probably be costing us ten times wot it will at the moment. Why is my little one modelling? We are doing it for fun. Its fun to see how the pictures are taken and how it all works. We are meting lots of other children/mothers and it is making my little one sociable. Also at the end of the day if my little one makes it into a magazine/catalogue then it is a nice memory as you have to remember that in a session even though they are taking photos of your little one it does not necessarily mean it will get into the magazine!!

JBMUM · 19/02/2005 17:04

The reason I went into it was because mine had some photos done at Olan Mills and the photographer recommended we apply to an agency. I went with BK cos my sister had been with them and had work. I did not go into it for the money, but it is always better to do something like this and it not cost you. Some auditions I have been to I have seen children that are clearly not comfortable being there and it is the mums that want it for them more than the child. That I don't agree with. Mind you, mine has grown in confidence with every job she's done so that can be an advantage. There have been 10 or 15 different casting studios we have been to over the time we have been doing it and the clients are always really nice to the children and parents so it is not necessarily going to be a bad experience for anyone at all. It is more of a matter of whether they are going to be good at it or not. It can't damage a child at all, just as long as the parents dont build a child's hopes up before an audition only to then have to let them down when they don't get it. But that would only apply to older kids anyway. Mine's enjoyed it and the best enjoyment is seeing your child on TV or in a magazine.

kazza3 · 19/02/2005 18:38

Totally agree with all you have said !!!!!!!!!!!

sazy123 · 19/02/2005 23:56

hiya

Im sorry im still not conviced about bk, i think i would prefere to spend more money on an inteview etc if i know that less children are accepted on the agencies books because then my d has more of a chance of being called for castings and the money hasn't gone to waste even if it is abit more than what bk charge and i would rather be regected than spend a year thinking i might get called but then not. the numbers from what they told me and the amount of people on here doesnt add up. unless this is there time of year 2 take people on i suppose! i have read loads of places that its not just looks that clients want, which you can assess from a photo, but behaviour as well which you cant, you may have to see the child in person for that.

here are sites of some agencies that sound quite good www.norriecarr.com www.motjunior.com
trulysrcumptious.com and scallywags.com

hope that helps anyone! sx

scorpio69 · 20/02/2005 16:41

hi kazza3 the agency is Eden Clayre in Manchester.

natsy · 20/02/2005 17:54

woodchild i think that bk is good my son has had 1 job offer with them so, far but his licence was not ready at that time so couldnt do it at that time. i was looking at other agencies only because went to last years baby show where katie froud former model and founder of alba was doing an info session on pros and cons of baby modelling she met my son and i asked her about bizzykidz and she confirmed that they are a genuine agency and also suggested bruce and brown as another good agencyto try .

JBMUM · 21/02/2005 17:10

I hear what you say, but they do assess the children to go to the right type of work, but they do it once they have established that they can get work for you etc during their assessment procedure. When they assess you they don't charge for that at all, unlike the other agencies who are charging even if they then say no. It is all a matter of opinion and preference really. My agency (BK) didn't charge me to assess me at all, they only charged me a small one off fee to be with them, then free til mine reaches 17 years and they have got me work. We have got 8 out of 11 jobs we have been for, so they are obviously doing something right, unlike some others that charge yearly fees and their kids get nothing.

biglips · 21/02/2005 17:13

i did a thread on for liverpool modelling agencies but no answer or are they all in manchester?

MUM007 · 21/02/2005 17:28

JBMUM-I am still waiting for BK to send me license details I have emailed and spoke to them and keep being told they will be sent.Did you have to wait long for yours. Its been over 2 weeks now.Obviously a child cannot go for audition unless they have this.I dont want to keep bothering them to look like im pushy but obviously I have paid the fee and want to get things moving.

GhostofNatt · 21/02/2005 18:03

anybody successfully started witha child who was not a baby? - got a pretty 4 yo ds who might enjoy it...

MistressMary · 21/02/2005 18:11

We wouldn't join our son up for modelling unless we were approached and then with lots of consideration. He is gorgeous and we know that
anyhow!

GhostofNatt · 21/02/2005 18:14

Mine is just v keen on "shows"eg if we go to theatre, he wants to go on the stage so i thought something like this\might be an outlet for him! But mayhe drama lessons a better answer..
