i have gone down the road of random names but I think that I willl have to invest a huge amount in marketing (ala Google) to make it work. So think perhaps I need to say what it does on the tin....ho hum!!

zippitippitoes · 08/06/2006 21:21

The google listings are not just from the domain name though, so if you have a liberal amount of school drama arts references in your prime text then it will be googled anyway

Easily, beetroot.

My website ranked higher than the BBC's for a search on "Cbeebies Springwatch" for the last three days, and has only just been "fixed" by Google Blush (I did wonder why all of a sudden my search engine hits doubled...)

zippitippitoes · 08/06/2006 21:31

well from my experience google have changed their system in the last few months and my natural listings have improved, so I am currently between 11-20 on google for keywords "party toys" although I have a random domain name...there are billions of sites with the word party in their domain name

It does change day on day though

A lot of good suggestions but a lot of the suggested names already exist. Don't forget its not just whether the domain name is available but as a business some organisations may have trademarked their name.

I like Class Act as a suggestion myself.

HOW TO GET LISTED IN GOOGLE

This is very important

AND

This works every time

Decide which words you want to be indexed for (e.g. arts school drama - but also something specific e.g. your brand name) and ensure that they are placed NATURALLY within the text on each page.

This will get you a high listing.

I have got several clients the No. 1 google ranking for their websites - just on cheapy sites for 250 quid but by doing this very carefully

Google basically works on natural included text now, not on domain name or anything else

morningpaper · 09/06/2006 09:02

What kind of shows Beety? I'm not clear about your proposition

Take me though exactly what a teacher would be looking for/thinking when using your site

Beetroot · 09/06/2006 09:13

the teacher, perhaps is dong midsummer nights dream with his/her students. They have to see a live performance to comment on it. the teacher can look on my site and find which Dreams are available in the area, who is in them, etc etc. Instead of trawling through all the theaters to check.

They might have to just take kids to a performance for them to use in gcse. They can see what innovative stuff is coming to the area, where and what is further a field. they can then get after show talk organised as well.

Or the primary school teacher is dong the Romans and they want to include some drama work with this.

and more
