My second thread. The first is awaiting deletion due to details that were in the thread.

Basically, my brother is in intensive care with multiple stab wounds, he is stable, but critical. So he could go either way.

At the moment it doesn't feel real to me, I feel like I'm in a soap or something! It's very surreal :(

So glad he is on the way, it's amazing what modern medicine can do! Just let me know if you need anything

BehindLockNumberNine · 07/01/2013 18:41

Has he arrived yet?

ShiftyFades · 07/01/2013 19:28

Fingers crossed for the procedure Smile

JustasmallGless · 07/01/2013 19:32

Prayers for you all to get through as well as prayers for your bro.

BitBewildered · 07/01/2013 19:40

Emotional rollercoaster! Has he arrived yet? Fingers all crossed that this is the miracle.

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 07/01/2013 19:43

Not yet, he left the hospital here at 6, and the ambulance took exactly 2 hours to get here with equipment/team etc, so assuming they've kept that pace up he should be there in roughly 20 mins. He's still critically ill, but things are looking so much better already. His oxygen levels in his blood were up to 100% straight after the procedure which is fantastic considering before the op it was less than 50% and he had less than 24 hours to live.

I know lots of paramedics & medical staff from our area OP & I know they'll be doing their utmost to give him the best chance.

They really are amazing people.

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 07/01/2013 20:03

You sound such a lovely family, great that you have each other. Hoping this procedure continues to make the difference.

friendlymum67 · 07/01/2013 20:52

Been following this and hoping for a small miracle - it seems you may have had it! Fingers crossed for more good news x

MissBetseyTrotwood · 07/01/2013 21:47

Hey Cunny. Piecing together bits off FB and just saw this thread - rejoined on here so I could do some detective work off the grund thread!

PM'd you sweetie.

x

TheDeadlyDonkey · 07/01/2013 21:50

Fingers crossed for you all, and sending tons of good vibes x

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 07/01/2013 22:54

Thanks everyone. We're here now, my mum and sister are with him now -strictly 2 at a time- so me and his step mum are going next. Going to be a very long night and we'll be stiff tomorrow, we're staying in the waiting room for the night. Don't know how he is yet though, will update when I've seen him.

So glad he got there, will be thinking of you all tonight

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 07/01/2013 23:53

It's amazing, his heartrate is now 73 and he's pretty damn stable! Still critical though but things are looking so much better. The nurse with him says this particular unit of ECMO has so far had a 98% success rate with patients surviving Shock

That's brilliant Cunny. You must be so relieved. I can't tell you how pleased I am for you. Fingers firmly crossed for you happy ending.

ILikeWhisperingToo · 07/01/2013 23:58

Wishing you all well tonight Cunny x

lunar1 · 08/01/2013 00:05

Even though he is not out of the woods yet it must make you feel so much better to know that he is getting the absolute best care possible. I'm so glad things are looking so different to last night.

ripsishere · 08/01/2013 00:06

Middle of the night for you now, but well done cunny's brother and well done the NHS.

Horsemad · 08/01/2013 00:09

Good to hear the news Cunny!

BitBewildered · 08/01/2013 00:10

98% is pretty fantastic! It sounds like he's in the best hands. I hope the night goes peacefully for you all. Brew

HintofBream · 08/01/2013 00:34

Hoping tomorrow will be a happy day for you all.

SpottyBagOfTumble · 08/01/2013 00:42

Fingers crossed for you. Sounds like he is in a great place!

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 08/01/2013 00:49

I bought 8 tins of red bull to bring with us Blush :o

The nurses managed to find us accomodation in the hospital itself so at least we have beds for the night which was an unexpected but welcome surprise. Although we're in the transplant department, quite a way away from where we need to be.
