Aillidh Christine Kinnaird died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia at around 11.30 on 8 July 2012. She was surrounded by family and friends and most of all, love.

So sorry, Expat and family. You and Aillidh have been an inspiration to me as to so many.

After my little brother died, my wise mother always used to say that a short life is no less a complete one. We live the life we are given: some people are given 9 years, some 90. But it is their life, and not diminished or incomplete due to its brevity; the force for good that 9 year old Aillidh has been is greater than many who live to a ripe old age. This thought has given me comfort, and while it will not dimish anyone's grief or take away from family Expat's loss, I hope that it helps others to gain acceptance and peace at this terribly sad time.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
