yackertyyack · 02/03/2006 11:17

IZZ>>> Hope you and LO's are OK?? Shame about SA -hope you re-arrange soon!
DS's previous jobs have been without castings which are great but at the moment to take a day off work and to take him out of nursery for a 5/10min casting is just too expensive!!! Its ok if he gets the job Grin as yesterdays was worth it.
Will see how we get on....(and what the casting is for Grin) and decide again when I have given up work....I may never be able to leave the house with 2 under 2's!!!!!GrinGrin

izzyrubi · 02/03/2006 11:48

Yackerty >> DD's better but has a bad chest infection and ear infection so absolutely no flying this week, we're trying to change the flight to next week, should be fine... to be honest it actually suits me, I have so much work to do this week, so it's all for the best! Hope you're having a good day!

totallyfloaty35 · 02/03/2006 12:21

Perfume,Mary,i dont know how many kids they wanted but they were all shapes and sizes, well most of them were pretty small actually,my daughter was the tallest. All kids had different hair and skin colour.Ithink they were going on foot size as they measured everyones feet.DDdid manage to skip and hula but then so did all the othersSad.Casting was for Clarks and shoot date is 20th(they think)

Here it is...

LIST OF AGENCIES AND CHARGES

Here's a list of modelling agencies in the UK and some details about them

Kids London - www.kidslondonltd.com
Top agency, charges a very small fee of around £25 and has an excellent reputation and gets lots of work for the very few kids on their books. They are well known for having international kids and for accepting only a very very small percentage of applicants. They don't accept applications through e-mail so check their website for address, they normally answer applications very quickly. Kids London is a sole rep.

Bruce & Brown - www.bruceandbrown.com
Same style as Kids London, Bruce & Brown is a top end of industry agency with very few kids on their books and gets a lot of work for their kids, the owner Kipsey is really nice. They accept e-mail and postal application throughout the year but can take quite a while to get back especially when the application is done via e-mail. This is also a sole rep. agency and there's no charge involved (with the exception of model book photos - check this, I think you can either pay up-front a lesser amount or have 150.00 taken out of the child's earnings. 25 pound charge for internet inclusion - taken from first job). Small agency so you get the feeling that they know you and your child.

MOT Junior - www.motjunior.co.uk
Known to be a really good agency, don't have many kids on their books and the ones they have don't have similar looks, there's no charge to join but if you choose to be on their website they do charge £60 for photos, this comes out of the first job so no upfront charges. They apparently get a lot of work for their kids and from what I've heard they only take kids older than 18 months (not sure!) they accept e-mail and postal applications and also have a walk-in from 10am-12pm at their London office, they normally reply to applications within a week. This agency is not sole rep.

Urban Angels - www.urbanangelsagency.com
Well known agency, gets lots of work for kids on their books and doesn't have a lot of kids with similar looks. The agency was setup in 2003 and already has a great reputation. They charge only £40 for photos and require sole rep. The owner Alysia is really really nice and their website is very informative, they are well known for not taking many kids and even the ones they like via e-mail are not guaranteed to get a contract until they go for the photo shooting. They accept both e-mail and postal applications but only during certain times of the year, the best is to check their website regularly, they're normally very fast to reply to applications.

Alphabet Kidz - www.alphabetkidz.co.uk
New agency, very nice owner, have only about 100 kids on their books but not counting the babies. Website is nice but again you can't see the babies. They do get work for their kids. They charge only £20 for kids up to 2 years old and they don't have to attend a photoshooting altough the parent's have to sign a contract saying they will keep the agency updated with new photos every 4-8 weeks. Kids older than 2 have to attend a photoshooting and are charged £100 to join. Apparently they're not sole rep and applications can be done via e-mail or postal and they normally answer very very quickly.

Cheeky Kidz - www.cheekykidz.co.uk
New small agency but very reputable, run by two very nice sisters, they only charge £30 for photos and the kids are welcome to go and update them as they find necessary without any further charges. They require sole rep but do get work for their kids, especially older kids or so I've been told. Website isn't the nicest of all and to apply you must download an application form and e-mail them together with photos, it can take a while for them to reply to your application.

Elliot Brown - www.elliotbrownagency.co.uk
Based in Oxford, I've been told it's a very good agency, I have seen their kids on castings and jobs before and know some mums who are happy with their work. The owner, Jane Elliott, is really nice and they don't charge anything to join and aren't sole rep. They accept both e-mail and postal applications altough the e-mail ones aren't always replied to quickly and the postal applications are.

Inspired Kids - www.inspired-kids.com
Well established agency with a newish kids division, they have a very inovative approach to modelling and have a wonderful website, they have very few kids on their books and mostly no kids with similar looks, they are known to only take a small percentage of applicants. They do charge around £100 to be on their website and aren't a sole rep agency, they accept e-mail and postal applications that are normally answered really quickly and also have a walk-in session at their offices from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Elisabeth Smith - www.elisabethsmith.co.uk
Definitely a well established and well known agency but they do have lots of kids on their books, they do get a lot of work though. Charges around £165 and requires sole rep. They accept both e-mail and postal applications and are normally quick to reply.

DK - www.dkmodels.net
Apparently a small agency based in Sheffield that does not charge anything to join (or so it says on their website), doesn't have a lot of kids on books and from what I read on this forum they get lots of work for their kids. They only accept postal applications.

Childsplay - www.childsplaymodels.co.uk
Established but huge, Childsplay has loads of kids on their books and charges over £250 to join, I've been told by other mums that they do get work for their kids but I've also been told that they have been getting worse as time goes by, not sure about that. Does require sole rep and accepts e-mail and postal applications, they normally get back to you very quickly.

Truly Scrumptious - www.trulyscrumptious.co.uk
Another very well established and well known agency they charge around £200 for over 2's and around £100 for under 2's to join, only accept postal applications and they're only considered between May and September with the exception of babies under 6 months that are seen all year round. I have seen their kids at castings and met a few mums that are happy with them. From what I've read they do require sole rep.

Scallywags - www.scallywags.co.uk
Probably the biggest agency with over 1000 kids on their books, they are very well known and established and I know a few kids on their books and they all seem to get jobs often. They charge about £170 to join them and that includes a cd with the photos for you to keep, they are sole rep and only accept applications through their website and only at certain periods of the year so keep an eye on it, they normally reply quickly.

Rascals - www.rascals.co.uk
Charges about £200 to join but their new website is quite nice, they have about 350 kids on their website and I'm not sure if they require sole rep. I know they are well established and get work for their kids. On the new website you can only apply through the website and they accept applications all year and are very quickly to reply.

Norrie Carr - www.norriecarr.com
Well known agency, established in 1963 they have had quite a few famous models including Emma Bunton (and Cyan's DP! ). They charge £155 to join them and have photos taken and only take a percentage of applicants, when they have kids with similar looks they let you know straight away. I spoke to them twice and they were always really nice. They accept applications all year round and through e-mail or postal, they are normally very efficient in replying!

Kidz Ltd - www.kidzltd.co.uk
Based in Manchester, they seem to be a good agency, I know one person who's with them and happy and I think someone in this forum is also with them. From what I read on their website they charge £120 for photos and it seems as if they're sole rep but I'm not sure. They only accept postal applications and you need to print an application form from their website.

Tuesday Child - www.tuesdayschildagency.co.uk
Seems to be a well organized agency, there's one mum in this forum that is with them but not for long, I also know someone else that is with them and happy. They're based in Cheshire and I think they require sole rep. I'm not sure of number of kids or costs involved. They only accept postal applications.

Power Child Models - www.powerchildmodels.co.uk
Based in Norwich, I have heard good things about them but not sure of numbers or anything else! They only accept kids that are based in London or East Anglia and they accept both email and postal applications.

Bizzy Kidz - www.bizzykidz.co.uk
They are supposed to be a well established agency but I'm not sure, lots and lots of parents complain about them and I personally didn't have a good experience but I know that they do get work for some of their kids, maybe the older ones. They charge £94 to join and you must keep them updated with photos. Staff aren't exactly what I call nice but that's my opinion! They have loads of kids on their books especially babies, they accept applications through their website and postal and are normally quick to reply.

All Sorts - www.allsortsagency.com
I wasn't sure about this agency but I've been reliably told about it last week, their website is alright and they have about 350 kids on their books of which only about 45 are under 3, it seems like they are a good agency and get work for their kids. They do charge for photos but don't tell you how much and they accept both e-mail and postal applications.

Models Plus - www.modelsplus.com
Don't have many kids on their books and from what I see on their website I assume they don't require them to have professional photos taken, not sure about costs involved. To apply you must download their application form fom the website.

yep, with KL .. 6 and 2 :)

totallyfloaty35 · 02/03/2006 13:57

When my dd2 was with KL she was 7 and we never heard a thing from them in 3 months, owner said in email that kids in book submitted first all others afterwards. Are you in the book? you may find it picks up once you are.I only left as i didnt really click with them but any casting i have been too the majority of kids are always sent from KL

totallyfloaty35 · 02/03/2006 13:59

The list misses out MOVIEMITES agency, the owner is lovely and works very hard for her kids, they are well worth considering if your lo is very into tv/film work

mythumbelinas · 02/03/2006 14:14

Totally - yeah, she joined just as they were shooting for the book, so she should be in the book. She's only had 2 castings.
I think it's more 'me' tho .. i'd love her to 'do' something iykwim.
I do like KL, my booker is always lovely to speak to, but it's always for dd2 ..

izzyrubi · 02/03/2006 14:16

thumbs >> why don't you try MOT for dd1? it's not nice having them in different agencies but if that means she'll get more work then it may be worth it!!

Tiasmum >> The address is
NEW FACES AT KIDS LONDON
67 DULWICH RD
LONDON
SE24 ONJ

Send maximum of three photos her details and your contacts! They're quick to reply!!
Good luck and let us know how you get on :)

izzyrubi · 02/03/2006 14:22

totally >> yeah, it's actually my fault!! they accepted dd but I didn't know much about them!

mythumbelinas · 02/03/2006 14:22

izzy, i can't try MOT, my friend (who's dds are with them) doesn't want me to
Anyway ... will stay with KL for now, coz we paid for £170 model book shoot .. will see what the yr brings :)
I dunno, dd1 was 3 when she got asked to try for a commercial (somebody in advertising asked mutual friend when we'd met at kids party) but dd1 was much too shy then and i never pursued it, but last year, out of blue, she asked me she does want to do it .. so that's how i started .. for her

izzyrubi · 02/03/2006 14:25

thumbs >> oh yeah forgot abt your friend! How long have you been with KL?

totallyfloaty35 · 02/03/2006 14:28

thumbs, why does your friend get to choose your agency? Its for the agent to decide if they are similar to another child or if they can get work for them. But if dd has already had castings then i reckon its just a matter of time before a job comes up.You have a good relationship with your booker, shes in the book and your with a top agencyGrinwork is just around the corner.

mythumbelinas · 02/03/2006 14:30

izzy - about 5 months now
Am i just being impatient? .. having one of those days .. i blame Desperate Housewives .. made me cry last night!! haha

Yacks, forgot to say well done to ds's shoot :)

tigeryuan · 02/03/2006 14:33

hi everyone!
izzy - sorry about your ds & your trip!!

i'm not in the UK at the moment. anyway, my dh just bought the Junior magz., he said ds isn;t there. and the fashion pages are only for older kids.
so, may be for next issue, or on the junior baby magz!! Sad

mythumbelinas · 02/03/2006 14:37

thanks totally .. i know, i know .. just have to be told off .. nicely Wink friend did say she doesn't own the agency, but if i'm ok about any future conflicts we may have then go for MOT .. think she meant in case dds go to same casting, etc

tigeryuan · 02/03/2006 14:38

izzy - sorry, your little girl.. sorry for my typing!!
