Queec Namel v v good name- always made me Grin

Westonzoyland... home of my ancestors (we effed up the battle of sedgemoor single handedly don't ya know?)

For schools, there's a place near Taunton that's probably over priced called Enmore, that's the best school I know of, not a very big place though.

My fave names are EasterTown, and a street in Taunton called Whirligig lane.

PeachyClair · 28/02/2006 09:25

Queen camel.

Doh.

My typing is appalling at best, but hands not defrosted yet.

Enid · 28/02/2006 09:41

yes sorry floss

I think they are related but I am not sure how (they are all v horsy and Pearce is a well known family round here)

will try and find out

PrincessPeaHead · 28/02/2006 11:32

how can all you dorset lot forget Ryme Intrinsica (my favorite village name). Also I knew a girl who lived in Puddle Lane, Piddletrenthide which we thought was hilarious...

Lots of us near-Marlburians hiding here on MN aren't there Sharklet and Steppy?

SiobhanW · 28/02/2006 12:15

We have a Touching End Lane in our village !! along with Back Lane and Big and Little Ends !! Makes you wonder ??!!!

sharklet · 28/02/2006 13:16

I live next to "The Butts" made DH laugh...

MissChief · 28/02/2006 15:11

the Bottoms nr Manchester? a friend of mine lived in Broadbottom - appeals to my 5 yr old sense of humour, caught off ds1!

MissChief · 28/02/2006 15:18

sorry, off-message there. Envy that you're looking at such a beautiful area - it's where I'd go like a shot if I could ever drag dh away. Good luck with yr hunt.

LittleB · 28/02/2006 15:26

Have to add a couple of street names, Merriott, near Crewkerne, has Sandy Hole, where I used to live, and Boozer Pit, there used to be alot of pubs in the village! LOL at Crewkerne being 'posh', depends what you campare it to, maybe compared to Yeovil and Chard, but not anywhere else! One of my friends lives in the houses where the Palace was, although some of the 'posh'people and those that lived next to it were glad to see the end of the nightclub, many of us miss it, and you still get drunk people hanging around at night, as you will everywhere.

PeachyClair · 28/02/2006 16:28

Ah, but you see Dh comes from Chard and Me Bridgwater.

let's face it, St Pauls is posh on that basis! Wink

When I worked for Macmillan we did have a lot of very posh inded lasies on the Crewkerne Committee

PeachyClair · 28/02/2006 16:28

LADIES! {blush}

fennel · 28/02/2006 17:54

MissChief, we are particularly fond of Slack Bottom (Hebden bridge).

cod · 28/02/2006 19:25

it has three noce shops imo

reast shite

it is an odd place i dedcided - looks kind of care worn
lovely buildings tho

chonky · 28/02/2006 19:32

Surfermum - Bob's still at the 12 Bells (and still telling ppl to f'off if they ask him for a recommendation from what's on tap)!! :o

wheretogo - I can really recommend Cirencester. Small, friendly, good shops (well for a town of its size, and Cheltenham is only 13 miles away), fabulous country walks & pubs, brand new leisure centre...Tetbury & Malmesbury are lovely too, just the towns are on a slightly smaller scale.

Surfermum · 28/02/2006 19:36

It's nice to hear some things don't change! I loved that pub.

fennel · 28/02/2006 20:43

what are the 3 nice shops in Devizes Cod?

cod · 28/02/2006 20:44

spirit

the kithcen shop adn the hat shop
oha dn maybe that art shop

fennel · 28/02/2006 20:45

there's a nice 2nd hand bookshop (by the deli, near the town hall)

fennel · 28/02/2006 20:50

anyway who needs shops when you can prance in a drnuken stupor round the Avebury stones of an evening for your entertainment. you don't really move to Wiltshire for the city lights.

Flossam · 28/02/2006 20:52

I don't think they would be the shy and retiring type Enid! Most probably is them. Horsey, yes, they owned a couple I think. Some chickens and some sheep too! I'd be interested to know if you do find out! Grin

Flossam · 28/02/2006 20:53

Oh and Sarah had a huge pig called Mabel I think? She had a piglet Boris. I have a horribile feeling that her dad sent boris to the slaughter house though and Sarah was very upset!! Grin

Gem13 · 01/03/2006 13:27

What about the toy shop and the excellent greengrocer on the market?

And the deli/cafe opposite the toyshop does fab milkshakes!

littlerach · 01/03/2006 13:44

Yes, the toy shop is lovely.

and think there was abread shop or bakery like the one in salisbury - Reeves?

wheretogo · 10/03/2006 12:44
