Have ds who is 20months, he's called Sonny and had wanted that name for years and totally love it. In other words, when I was pregnant I knew what I'd call a boy but if we had a girl there wasn't a name I 'loved' enough to have IYKWIM. I'm planning to try again soon and I take ages making decisions so thought I best start this now

One's I like so far............

Girls Lola Lila Isla Ellie Summer Boys
Louie
Theo
Charlie
Levi

just looking for the one!

I love name threads . Isla is very pretty. I like Ellie too but it's very popular if that bothers you. Theo and Charlie are good names and Louis (!) isn't bad either.

alliebaba · 23/02/2006 22:16

got a v old fashioned name for ds.. people always say... no, what's the baby's name.. there was a daphne and hector born same time as my dd

Aero · 23/02/2006 22:24

I like Isla - unusual, but not unheard of.

Know of a rabbit called Lola, so can't eqate it to a little girl!

Like all the boys names. Least favourite is Levi.

Naming a child is such a big responsibility isn't it. Ds2's name is one which I wasn't sure about. We love it, but not sure he will, so have also given middle names which are more widely used, just in case.

Elf1981 · 23/02/2006 22:27

Girls, my favs are Lila and Isla (I wanted to name our DD Lila Grace but DH wasn't keen).
Boys, I think Theo is the best. If I have a DS I'm going to name him Lewis.

Lauraa83 · 23/02/2006 22:50

Thanks for the replies so far keep them coming! They are really helpful

As u can see Charlie and Lola are both on the list so if I have twins that's what they'll be

Lila sounds like sanitary protection. Why not go the whole hog and call her Lillette?

joe35 · 23/02/2006 23:11

When I live in America I heard a small girl in the park called Madison and I thought it sounded gorgeous. I have two boys and that is my limit so no wee madisons here.

WestCountryLass · 23/02/2006 23:23

Isla is very nice as is Theo

JennyLee · 23/02/2006 23:54

Lewis is a great name, most popular boys name in Scotland last time I checked

Lauraa83 · 24/02/2006 20:19

KateF, I prefer the name prenounced Lou-ee rather than Lou-iss IYKWIM! I know Lou-ee can be spelt Louis, Louie or Lewie but I like the 'ou' ones and thought that as Louis can also be prenounced Lou-iss then people would get his name wrong???

Hope that makes sense

Lol, Lauraa83

If you have a girl, and called her Summer, you would have

Sonny Summer

RedRidingHood · 24/02/2006 20:29

Love Lewis and Ewan for a boy and maybe Mhari or Isla for a girl.

My friend has just named her son Theo. Theodore of course but Theo for short.

Lauraa83 · 24/02/2006 21:22

thirtysomething.........I have a cousin called Zachary and like the name Zac or Zachary too, forgot to put that on my list!

Oh yeah! Waterfalls that's funny you said that cos you know I said I also liked Amber, a friend said to me, Laura, do you realise all your names are 'happy yellow names' like Sonny Summer Amber??? Weird isn't it I didn't realise till someone said!

80sMum · 24/02/2006 21:23

Don't forget, it's not just a baby you're naming - it's a future adult. Give him/her a name he/she can live with and one that will 'grow up' with them. Quite a few names sound cute for a little one but are decidedly dodgy for adults!
Also, names can become very 'dated' so you may want to avoid current fads.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 24/02/2006 21:48

Theo, like Theo Huxtible?
