Have ds who is 20months, he's called Sonny and had wanted that name for years and totally love it. In other words, when I was pregnant I knew what I'd call a boy but if we had a girl there wasn't a name I 'loved' enough to have IYKWIM. I'm planning to try again soon and I take ages making decisions so thought I best start this now

One's I like so far............

Girls Lola Lila Isla Ellie Summer Boys
Louie
Theo
Charlie
Levi

just looking for the one!

Hi
my daughter is Ellie - it is terribly common but suits me fine since i have a very unusual name and that was no fun at all growing up...

My son is Jonah - which I am thrilled with - I always loved Joe for a boy, but wanted somethign with a bit more variety too - Jonah totally works in this respect!

what about Ilsa (or Ilse) - I love that too.
And Verity is one I wish I could have, and Catherine, but thankfully I intend to have no more kids now!

alliebaba · 25/02/2006 19:18

blimey jco that's freaky.. my friend just had a girl called Bliss and her son is called Harrison.. both on your list!

My dd is called Sylvia, and we get tons of comments on it.. good and bad, but who gives a crap if it's what you like

magicfarawaytree · 25/02/2006 19:25

I like Tristan for a boy
Tallulah is a great girls name and sound lovely to say.

Detta · 25/02/2006 19:44

My friend has a Sonny and her other son is Eddie (not Edward), which is great. Other names that spring to mind are:

Boys
Leon
Frank
Felix
John (much underrated I think)

Girls
(I love Lola but feel it will become very common)
Saffron
Elsie
Rachael
and my friend's fave Myrtle!

You might want to look here top 100 girls'names and here top 100 boys' names to see if the names you are thinking of are currently popular.

crazydazy · 25/02/2006 20:53

My DD is Ellie Mae so obviously I like that.

Girls names I like are:-

Maisie
Tia
Tallulah (in my defence did like it when I was pregnant with DD 6 years ago)

Some boys names which are pretty cool in DS' nursery:-

Kane
Zane
Alfie
Jak

cyan · 25/02/2006 20:55

Lauraa83 · 25/02/2006 21:00

fob · 25/02/2006 21:12

lola for girl, louie for boy. defo!

christie1 · 25/02/2006 22:35

ok, my dd is named Grace. Everyone said I was daft but I have now run into three babies all the same age named grace. Apparently U2 has a song named Grace which inspired one mom. I haven't heard it but always loved the hymn, amazing grace. For a boy I always loved Thomas.

LaylaandSethsmum · 25/02/2006 22:47

What about Layla? For obvious reasons!

KateF · 25/02/2006 22:49

Take your point about Louie/Louis . How about Leyla/Layla for a girl? DD1 has a good friend called Leyla and I think it's a really pretty name. Or Lily?
In my class of 4 year olds at the moment we have Lily, Ruby, Cameo, Holly and Shayden - maybe some ideas there.

cyan · 25/02/2006 22:53

i think ruby is beautiful x
