Dh said lets go to the pub for a drink and a chat. So I went . And he spent all night talking to a mate about bloody rugby. What is it about the stupid game? He thinks he's had a good night and now wants sex. Urgh!!

Sorry Norma - gotta disagree - I love rugby (come on Jonny!) but if dh gets to watch/crap on about a game in the pub, then you should get an evening you enjoy in return. Maybe you should insist he takes you to seee Love Actually.

Norma · 13/11/2003 16:10

well, will Carling is a bit of alright. Dribbles again.

That's my Sunday gone - supposed to be watching game at ds' rugby club, then driving 20 miles to watch ds play two games of rugby - maybe I will volunteer to continue with the decorating or Christmas card writing or something and let dh take both kids!! Mmmmm I feel a cunning plan coming on!!

Norma · 13/11/2003 17:13

Does anyone else think Will is sexy?
Rugby players are definately sexier than football fairies, but men get so obsessed ...

Got to say that the rugby is starting to drive me mad each weekend now. For the final we are staying at friend's in London and watching there before going out. No doubt the boys will be watching anyway, and I will be entertaining DD.

Will is getting a bit too old for me now, not sure about the current players - will look at this weekend

wilbur · 15/11/2003 15:51

I recommend Will Greenwood and Josh Lucy.

Ghosty · 15/11/2003 22:10

New Zealand is in national mourning today .... of course it will all be the English Ref's fault

They also say that there are concerns for Jonny
Wilkinson's mental state because of his increasingly haunted look over the last few weeks ....

I am glad there is a thread about rugby ... even if it is not a very 'pro' one. I am really looking forward to tonight's England/France game ....

Nothing like being in NZ to become madly patriotic for the English Rugby team ....

Norma · 15/11/2003 22:43

Sorry Ghosty, and all the other rugby fans lurking out there. Didn't mean for it to be anti, was just having a moan about Dh's lack of attention to his wife. Rugby's not so bad really.

We went to the England/Wales game last weekend, it was great. Such a good atmosphere.

Prince Harry was there, think he enjoyed the football but we also thought he looked rather sad... probably all the current goings-on with Charles, can't be very nice for him.

Anyway, Ghosty, GO the Wallabies!!!

NZ wouldn't be very happy this morning I don't think...

Ghosty · 16/11/2003 08:40

Lethal, are you an Aussie or a Brit in Aus? I fully expected some flags at half mast today
20 minutes to go until the France/England match ... go on Mumsnetters, even those who hate sport, give a little support for our boys ... all you need to do is cross your fingers ...
GO ENGLAND!!!

Ghosty · 16/11/2003 11:04

Oh ... come on everyone ...
England just beat France 24 - 7 ... and will be playing Australia next week in the World Cup Final ... it was a good game and I feel proud to be English and now I think I love Johnny Wilkinson ....

Swing looooooooow,
Sweet Chaaaariot,

Norma · 16/11/2003 11:09

Well done England!!!!! I'll be carrying my dh home next Sat. if we beat the Aussies.

OP posts:
eidsvold · 16/11/2003 11:48

no chance of that.... we will win - so you lot better practice your waltzing matilda...

Oh to go back to wokr on Monday where english snotty pe teachers told me NZ would kick aussie butt and we would be out..... I can't wait

Lethal · 16/11/2003 12:14

I'm a kangaroo Ghosty

I did live in England for a few years when I was younger, but was born in Australia & have been here a long time now.

Eidsvold, good to know there's someone else on here backing the Wallabies, even if we're in the minority! Don't forget to wear your green & gold next week

crystaltips · 16/11/2003 15:15

Jonny Wilkinson and I are to be married .... I think that it's about time I dumped Alfie Moon ...
GOD I'm fickle

eidsvold · 16/11/2003 16:20

Lethal - dd was bought an england rugby jumper for her birthday - miles to big for her at the moment - she will probably fit into it around the time we are returning to Aus. Dh insists that she will be wearing it next week - I said she will not need a jumper as she will be arapped in the southern cross

Norma · 16/11/2003 16:21

Read 'WHEN' we beat the Aussies in my earlier post!!

OP posts:
wilbur · 16/11/2003 16:53

Yippee - bring it on, Oz! Go Jonny, go Jonny (repeat until we win).

zebra · 16/11/2003 18:08

DH told me the score was France 7, "Johnny Wilkinson 24". "Who's that, then?" I said. "Does he play for Australia?"

CP · 16/11/2003 18:33

YAY - so glad England won! Took dd to a birthday party this afternoon where there were a lot of South Africans and they were very subdued for a change. DD shouts 'Go England' and every opportunity - bless!

sibble · 16/11/2003 18:59

I sat through a wedding this weekend with a room full of smug kiwi's during every speech bragging how they were going to kick France's arse in teh final.... I caused a bit of a stir and upset DH when I said the only arse that was going to be kicked was Australia's by us (England). That evening the smile was wiped off their faces by Australia and this morning I closely resemble a cheshire cat. Nothing makes you more patriotic than living abroad and even more so than being surrounded by a smug rugby fanatic nation. Now I just wonder when DH will take off his black arm band and try to smile again....
We are going to a birthday party next Saturday at English frineds here - DH is refusing to stay to watch the final..poor loser I say..

bobthebaby · 16/11/2003 19:06

Sibble, I am tempted to buy dh a Tshirt that says "I support 2 teams, NZ and anyone playing Australia" and insisting he wear it on Saturday, when coincidentally my British parents arrive! Only got one TV so they will have to put their differences to one side. Could be worse though, they could be Australian!

Ghosty · 16/11/2003 19:23

Finally .... some support for the rugby YAY ....
Last night I dreamed of Johnny ... I just want to smooth that worried look off his sweet face!

Lethal ... Eidsvold ... the lines are drawn ...

Sibble ... your poor DH ... we had some friends round yesterday (English DW and Kiwi DH) - he said he is never watching sport again!!!!

Bobthebaby ... LOL at t-shirt for DH!
