Endearing things DCs say wrongly that you don't correct

As in when they are tiny and learning to speak obv, not revising for Oxbridge entrance exam...

Mine are 'Larf!' for the note that follows 'Sew' in the song Doe a Dear, 'turk-noise' for turquoise, oh and she likes to eat a nice 'cereal bath' every so often. She has recently adapted 'Grandad' to 'Dadgrandad' having noticed I address him as 'Dad'. My Speech Therapist sister used to encourage her very early habit of saying 'moo' when she saw a dog because she found it hilarious, but I drew the line there...

Bit of indulgence for the weekend and I am sick so could use the distraction!

I know what you mean, JM - DS is now of the "what are we having for dinner?" persuasion now as opposed to "What for dins?"
We know they have to move on and develop but yes, I miss the baby stuff too.

allhailtheaubergine · 11/09/2011 07:08

Ahh yes. These days if I ask my son if he'd like a piece of tum-tum-ber he regards me cooly and suggests I probably mean "cucumber".

MultipleSoManyPapercuts · 11/09/2011 07:36

Just starting potty training with DS, and he'll point to his bits and say 'it comes the wee wee out'.

He also calls the computer a 'poocuter', which I love Grin

RockyAddict · 11/09/2011 10:19

DS1 says 'it deserves you right' and DS2 says 'I'm wearing my trousers on'
I love both expressiosn and never correct them

YougreatPamplemousse · 11/09/2011 10:25

We had sippyroom for sitting room, volumin for volume and when she has a headache she has a headegg.

TheHamish · 11/09/2011 14:33

She calls specs "gallees" instead of glasses. And "Orgoling's horses and Orgoling's men" couldn't put Humpty together again Smile

lemonmousse · 11/09/2011 15:09

When DD was little she used to say 'tibble' for 'towel' and it's sort of stuck in our house.

Not unusual for me or DH to be shouting "Who's used all the clean tibbles?!"

Pigleychez · 11/09/2011 16:17

DD1 (3.1) often gets 'Warm out' (Worn out!) Grin

ihatecbeebies · 11/09/2011 16:22

My aunt has a dog called Stan and DS got mixed up and thought that was my aunts name, so until DS was about 4yrs my aunt was called 'aunty Stan', we would always get a double look by passers by who overheard the name being mentioned.

LadyInPink · 11/09/2011 18:18

Oh yes I remember DD name for glasses - glagglies.

My niece would sing her version of hot cross buns "give them to your tortoise, give them to your sons" and we never had the heart to correct her.

friggFRIGG · 11/09/2011 18:25

DD (3yrs)says 'someways' instead of sometimes/some days....ie

DD - "i go to nursery now nanny, someways"
Nanny - Confused

friggFRIGG · 11/09/2011 18:27

oh and the step up stool, she call's her "standing wall" Grin

Squishylicious · 11/09/2011 19:18

DD says seckalilly for spaghetti. When she tries to get it right it ends up as a longer seckalill-ill-illy
Radigator for Radiator.
She has just stopped saying fingings instead of fingers

Calabria · 11/09/2011 21:43

Vermilla - a flavour of ice cream
Slounger - to sit on while sun bathing
Wep wipes - for wiping your bum
Insplore - look around
Insplode - it goes bang
Plocky - suction cup (her toothbrush has plocky feet)
She likes to eat "pssketti" bolognaise, and ovlives.
She has "thingers" and thumbs.

itsybitsy08 · 11/09/2011 22:43

Loving these Grin
Saturday morning treat me and DD have croissants for breakfast, warmed up. She calls them "onky-sonts" ie hot croissants! So sweet.

dirtydishesmakemesad · 11/09/2011 22:48

my dd used to say "hair dude" instead of hair do
my ds used to say loodiful for beautiful

dirtydishesmakemesad · 11/09/2011 22:49

ooh another cute one was ds who insisted on calling his toes his "foot fingers"

AllYourCakeAreBelongToMe · 11/09/2011 22:50

DD says 'basheem' for 'machine'.
She also refers to the 'ice cream bus' and 'dinner maps' (menus).

AllYourCakeAreBelongToMe · 11/09/2011 22:50

Oh and 'arm cases' for sleeves....

Dilligaf81 · 11/09/2011 22:50

Farmer christmas instead of father christmas - I get irrationally angry if people correct them (Im their DM I want them to say it when they are 20!)

For some reason yoghurt is bit-bit ??

NoNoNoMYDoIt · 11/09/2011 23:00

growings = seedlings / plants growing.

as in 'DS - look at how your sunflowers are growing'. then became 'look mummy. my growings are getting really big'.

SaggyHairyArse · 11/09/2011 23:03

My DS says countenator for calculater and my DD used to call a badge a badger as she got a badge with a picture of a badger on, oh and also a diary was a diarheoa (sp?).

Flowerista · 11/09/2011 23:04

We have Sunday cake = Yorkshire pudding
Leyow = yellow
Jump jump = trampoline
Grrr = grandad
I loves ya = my personal favourite

PeriPathetic · 11/09/2011 23:12

These stuck and passed into family language:

Crisspsspsspss - crisps
Niss-noss - rhinoceros
No-num - snowman
Dandy-darling - dandelion Grin

twinmam · 11/09/2011 23:27

Am loving these!

A few of ours from 3 year-old DDs that spring to mind are:
Crockledile - crocodile
Ice cream shop caravan - ice cream van
Bedroom trousers - pajama bottoms

Also, we live in a bungalow yet somehow have a 'downstairs' and an 'upstairs'! There are 2 steps to the back of the house where the bedrooms and bathroom are. Of course, it's caught on and DH and I use it too now, attracting us some confused looks from visitors who wonder where we've hidden the extra floor!
