Endearing things DCs say wrongly that you don't correct

As in when they are tiny and learning to speak obv, not revising for Oxbridge entrance exam...

Mine are 'Larf!' for the note that follows 'Sew' in the song Doe a Dear, 'turk-noise' for turquoise, oh and she likes to eat a nice 'cereal bath' every so often. She has recently adapted 'Grandad' to 'Dadgrandad' having noticed I address him as 'Dad'. My Speech Therapist sister used to encourage her very early habit of saying 'moo' when she saw a dog because she found it hilarious, but I drew the line there...

Bit of indulgence for the weekend and I am sick so could use the distraction!

And still haven't corrected 'Uncle Donald's', sounds so much better than asking to go to McDonald's for dinner Blush.

sungirltan · 10/09/2011 21:56

dd calls cloth nappies 'posh puppies'

AWimbaWay · 10/09/2011 21:58

Not quite the same but my Dd1 is convinced dh has fur on his body not hair, 'why do you have fur daddy?' Grin, I think she suspects he is a chimp.

Booboobedoo · 10/09/2011 22:01

DS is four and a half, and we have:

'alreadily' (I have alreadily washed my hands'

'Worldpool' (for whirlpool. It's amazing how often this comes up in conversation with DS)

And he still has a Jonathan Ross 'r', which I love.

He starts school tommorow.

Alambil · 10/09/2011 22:01

I am loving Strawberry Idiots and Cheekywowows - they're just inspired!

Panzee · 10/09/2011 22:06

My 2.2 year old says "nic nic" for picnic and "loc loc" for yoghurt.

DaydreamDolly · 10/09/2011 22:12

Love this thread!

DD 2.2 says wunny babbit and oboe instead of elbow.

She also says 'No I aren't' and 'No I doesn't' Grin

She calls nipples nibbles and always asks for 'sweetie bix' for breakfast. I hope they all stick I don't want her to grow out of them Sad

Gluttondressedaslamb · 10/09/2011 22:15

My DS2 loved strangled eggs

Nikkid21 · 10/09/2011 22:17

Dy man ite for dynamite

Uncle geo for uncle liam

Eye plugs for swimming goggles ( dh uses ear plugs at work)

rhetorician · 10/09/2011 22:18

DD had a lot of these, disappearing fast :( my favourites are 'ricespies' (rice krispies - holiday treat) and 'compucumber' for computer. She did a nice line in 'mermalades' (mermaids) a while back, but this is sadly sorted out now; oh and 'rainbow coat', for a rain coat that has some bows on it Hmm

KingofHighVis · 10/09/2011 22:34

New one for DSS (3.4) is yer parties in place of me hearties when pretending to be a pirate.

I also remember when we were small, my younger brother used to say Freddy Milk when he meant Incredible Hulk.

warthog · 10/09/2011 22:36

good after instead of look after Grin

lisalisa · 10/09/2011 22:37

Not my dc but I once heard a little one refer to a pomegranate as a granny pomet. So sweet and endearing that me and dc always call them thsi.....

In our house umbrellas are umbrumbellas after being christened so by ds when he was tiny ( he is now 12!)

ameliapond · 10/09/2011 22:44

Dd2 is nearly five and a half and has a slight speech delay.

We get:

Glubs for gloves
Dirdil for gerbil
Hello Titty for Hello Kitty
Bsgetti for Spaghetti
Chunks (as in wet cat food) came out, and still does as c*nts
Emails used to be memails
Lemonade used to be melonade for a while

PetitPiaf · 10/09/2011 22:45

My DS (20 months) calls wellies "splashbooties". He also counts "wan, too, five, six, five, six, five, six, teeeennnnnnn!"

I adore him.

PigeonPie · 10/09/2011 22:45

DS1 (age almost 6) still says tooken instead of taken. DS2 (3 1/2) calls me MummyBunny which isn't wrong, but is endearing. A few months ago DS2 insisted that Buzz Lightyear was called Buzz Lightlitre.

The one which will continue for us is Manky Cheese for Macaroni cheese which DS1 named years ago and has stuck.

I still tell the DC to put 'their feet on' rather than their shoes as that's what I said when I was little.

MrsKitty · 10/09/2011 23:06

DD (2) says Skeee-bee for 'excuse me' - Love it

DS (4) has Compinputer (computer) Cue-cim-cumber (cucumber)

Also 'Hehr-bottom' is what he calls a fart! When DD was a baby she had hiccups all the time (which DS, then 2 called 'Hehr-cups') therefore, in his 2 year old logic, noises from the other end became 'heh-bottoms!) That's the term we've adopted in our house for them now Grin.

BuxomWenchOnAPony · 10/09/2011 23:09

Need to write these down so I don't forget. DD says:

Chicken yoghurts (nuggets)
Buzz Like Yeah (Lightyear)
Mow controw (remote control)
Rizzackly (exactly)
Up Darnells (McDonalds)

Thumbwitch · 11/09/2011 02:59

Ha, the Dunjee post reminded me of DS's favourite song - the emu song.

got it after a short while cos he sang a bit of it - let me entert-emu! (R.Williams Esq) Grin

FrumpyPumpy · 11/09/2011 03:04

Cardidood... But that has passed "no daddy, not cardidood, cardidun" Smile

Bigglewinkle · 11/09/2011 05:23

DS1 (2.5) says hodilay instead of holiday. And he often refers to himself as a dilly doshage (silly sausage)!

FemaleEuknickers · 11/09/2011 05:59

DD:
jumpaline for trampoline
yoghurts instead of nuggets
welly/ wally for willie, usually accompanied by hoots of laughter
snoo me, for excuse me
long yoghurt for a frozen frube
little bot bot for her bum, usually with a dance
barbar for grandad which has stuck for all subsequent grandchildre

FemaleEuknickers · 11/09/2011 06:00

oh and wobblelies for wallabies

Jacksmania · 11/09/2011 06:09

DS used to say happycopter for helicopter but he's now so ridiculously articulate that the only thing he really gets wrong is "girl". For some reason he can't make that "urrrrl" sound. It comes out as somewhere between "grul" and "gril".

Jacksmania · 11/09/2011 06:15

Sorry, that sounds like PFB bragging and I didn't mean it to, it's just that it wasn't so long ago that he said all these cute little things and now he sounds so grown-up and I miss the little toddler things he said :(
