Endearing things DCs say wrongly that you don't correct

As in when they are tiny and learning to speak obv, not revising for Oxbridge entrance exam...

Mine are 'Larf!' for the note that follows 'Sew' in the song Doe a Dear, 'turk-noise' for turquoise, oh and she likes to eat a nice 'cereal bath' every so often. She has recently adapted 'Grandad' to 'Dadgrandad' having noticed I address him as 'Dad'. My Speech Therapist sister used to encourage her very early habit of saying 'moo' when she saw a dog because she found it hilarious, but I drew the line there...

Bit of indulgence for the weekend and I am sick so could use the distraction!

I didn't think we had any until this morning when DiddyDragon (2.11) came out with "pea-cooter" for computer. :)

FloydieDoydie · 16/09/2011 12:54

I used to say "take him over Daddy!" when I wanted him to overtake in the car Smile

I also used to say lumpys for elephant and nivegar for vinegar. Smile

I can't wait for DSD to start coming out with cute stuff like all these, at the moment she's just babbling away in her own little language!

bevj2boys · 16/09/2011 13:10

One son used still says meringue-u-tan (instead of orang-u-tan) & retweet (instead of retreat). My other used to say pushion instead of cushion

HelenQ · 16/09/2011 13:10

DD has a wonderful way of making things sound rude....

my sister Lexie is 'sexy'

she cannot say '64 zoo lane' so dances round the house singing 'sexy balls, sexy balls, sexy balls to day'

we also have a mote and a mummy bush.....

MollyTheMole · 16/09/2011 13:24

DS says Cumbumber instead of Cucumber

Stef83 · 16/09/2011 13:43

My little boy says "jamarmas" for pajamas and "Bouncaline" for a trampoline! He also manages to repeat every Spanish word perfectly on Dora the Explorer, but when she asks the kids to say "map" he screams "mack" at the telly every time!! hehe!

My brother used to talk about a film called "The Fly and the Alligator" too and noone could figure out what he was on about for ages, until we realied he meant "the flight of the navigator!"

keb1 · 16/09/2011 16:51

My DS (now 8) used to say cubababa for cucumber and my 3 yr od DD3 says Granny Pig for Guinea Pig - sooo cute!!

Anniepops · 16/09/2011 18:05

When my daughter was about 4, she asked me if the hens we were going to see were real. Confused as to what she was talking about I asked "What hens?" "The Stone Hens!" she said ... yes we were hoping to see Stonehenge!
I work with 2 & 3 year olds and theyare hilarious. We used to have a soft play near us called "Raggamuffins" and one boy excitedly told me he was going to a party at "Dragon Muffins" (which I think is a much better name!). Also used to love it when one little boy squealed and pointed at the sky for us all to look at the "Ally cocker!" (helicopter )

FarelyKnuts · 16/09/2011 19:04

just thought of a million more of them
funniest is fork coming out sounding like fuck EVERY TIME!
gigger= good girl
leggo= lets go
poopy gake= peppa pig
twings= swings
"allo" said in a peculiar french accent, which considering we are irish and aussie respectively is a bit disconcerting to say the least Grin

cherrypez · 16/09/2011 19:09

definately when DS told me his favourite part of our trip to the zoo was seeing the 'cheese-pandees' (chimpanzees)

Slambang · 16/09/2011 19:25

We had Nigel mixed up with angel.
"Mummy look at the Christmas Card with all the pretty Nigels."

Slambang · 16/09/2011 19:28

Oh yes, and countculator (still named so of course)

SpamMarie · 16/09/2011 19:36

My baby brother used to get very annoyed if you spoke over him and say, 'don't interrupt my word!'

I used to say littletard instead of leotard (at dance class). When we bought me a new one I remember calling it my bigtard for ages.

SkivingAgain · 16/09/2011 19:37

I remember my parents laughing when I was telling them that I was going to be unrolled at brownies. Blush

caesar04 · 16/09/2011 19:42

Loving these!!

DS still using loads of these (pappy, puter etc)

Blush ones are
Boobies -blueberries

And the current favourite...Mummy I CUNT do it!!!!!

He means I can't do it obviously but always shouts it so loudly as he is usually frustrated.

The other thing he does is adopt DHs Salford accent (we don't live there any more) so its caHHS for cars, this little piggy went to maAAHHHrket.
Hilarious!

PhishFoodAddiction · 16/09/2011 20:17

Love these threads.

My favourite one at the moment is DD2 (3.4) getting a bit confused about earwax... she thinks she has several 'whacks' in her ear. So she says, 'Mummy, have I got a whack in my ear?' and 'Shrek did made a candle with a ear whack' Grin

PhishFoodAddiction · 16/09/2011 20:20

Also DD2 thinking a pigtail was called a big tail and crying 'I don't want big tails Mummy, I want little ones!'

FrameyMcFrame · 16/09/2011 20:25

DS 2 says keeper-potter for computer.
Greem for green.

DD used to say dinner 'hole' instead of dinner 'hall' when she first went to school... Grin

SybilBeddows · 16/09/2011 20:27

my 6yo says 'certainately'.

and my ds1 used to think it was 'an ife' rather than 'a knife'.

girliefriend · 16/09/2011 20:32

my dd called barbies barbeques for ages! It made me laugh so much i never corrected her!!!

Indaba · 16/09/2011 20:43

My little one asked this week to listen to his "Only William" talking book.
Grin

girliefriend · 16/09/2011 20:57

My brother randomly called earwigs 'billy goats' for years, apparently I used to call icecubes 'cold stones' Grin

Also I would never ear dumplings as I thought they were 'ducklings' and couldn't bring myself to eat a baby duck!!! Only figured that one out when I was about 10yo!!!

louisianablue2000 · 16/09/2011 20:59

DD1 is losing all of these now. We still get the odd blutterfly and caterpillow which I love. And she likes to be hung upsi-bi-down.

Not so good is the fact that she insists that when DH and I pronounce our 'r's we are wrong. She has a friend call 'Ough-la' apparently (and here was me thinking it was Orla) and during a game of I spy said she saw something beginning with 'w'. It was road Biscuit.

LemonDifficult · 16/09/2011 21:31

Sprinkle Onions (Spring Onions)
Ebinda (Edinburgh)

BikeRunSki · 17/09/2011 13:07

For some unphathomable reason, DS calls windmills "Billies".
