Endearing things DCs say wrongly that you don't correct

As in when they are tiny and learning to speak obv, not revising for Oxbridge entrance exam...

Mine are 'Larf!' for the note that follows 'Sew' in the song Doe a Dear, 'turk-noise' for turquoise, oh and she likes to eat a nice 'cereal bath' every so often. She has recently adapted 'Grandad' to 'Dadgrandad' having noticed I address him as 'Dad'. My Speech Therapist sister used to encourage her very early habit of saying 'moo' when she saw a dog because she found it hilarious, but I drew the line there...

Bit of indulgence for the weekend and I am sick so could use the distraction!

OP posts:
thinkoutofthetoybox · 15/09/2011 06:00

Arse-cream instead of ice-cream Grin

thinkoutofthetoybox · 15/09/2011 11:04

Oops, killed the thread...

jellylegs · 15/09/2011 14:13

My DD said'Jamie Olive' uses 'Nutmug' in his hot choclate.......

fruitshootsandheaves · 15/09/2011 14:18

Ds called M&S Marks and Spensive ...we all do now!
and a trampoline is still a bounce-a-leen

ForcesSweetheart · 15/09/2011 14:19

DD's favourite movie at the moment is "Willie Wanker and the Chocolate Factory". DH and I struggled to keep a straight face when she said it the other day!

plusonemore · 15/09/2011 14:37

will read all when in need of a laugh, but for the moment...

DS1: round of applause= "round of the claws"
Grin

Joekate · 15/09/2011 14:40

My DD calls my bra "boob pants". I should correct her, but I prefer her version.

shakey1500 · 15/09/2011 14:48

Han Ong for Hang On but my all time favourite which I'm NEVER going to correct is Soddiges for sausages. Grin

shakey1500 · 15/09/2011 14:50

Oh and he says "Love you to the Moon and front" (instead of "back")

Seasider · 15/09/2011 15:14

DD said her brother was going into a "spider" of decline when she was six. It is now an official family saying.

DS has classified trees as evergreen, deciduous and carniverous (sp?) for trees with pine cones.

DownyEmerald · 15/09/2011 15:18

I adored pirrow for pillow, but that didn't last terribly long.
Ones that have just gone at 5.5 (I blame school) are woodhouse for woodlouse (very common in our house)
She still has a tendancy to say radriagators for radiators - we were designing an extension when she was 2ish.
And I don't think she'll ever stop saying bekfrast for breakfast.
Glubs was good too. We still say that one

Worcestercat · 15/09/2011 16:19

My LO listens to my cd I am playing in the car and says:

"Is that Take Out?" and I just have to say yes.

The other thing she says (because I am trying to teach her to be polite and use 'may I' instead of 'can I') is:
"Please may can I...?"

I hope letting her continue to say these won't make her a social outcast... :)

ceebeegeebies · 15/09/2011 16:29

Ds1 adored Thomas the Tank Engine for as long as I can remember and one of his first words was 'gigis' which is what he used to call Thomas. It lasted for ages and even now (he is 5), we still call Thomas 'Gigis' much to his disgust Grin

DS2 is nearly 3 and has a very cute way of saying 'what be on next mummy' when a TV programme finishes - it is too cute to correct him!!

Am sure there are others but can't think at the moment!

skiffler · 15/09/2011 16:29

We're big fans of Dalek bread in our house...

MunkyNuts · 15/09/2011 16:49

DD says lollipot for lollipop and DS calls M&S Marks and Spensive

hophophippidtyhop · 15/09/2011 17:01

dd's best one at the moment is piss-ti dust instead of pixie dust. She also says " my legs are out of breath" if I've walked her too much!

Hazelwhirls · 15/09/2011 17:05

DS (now 22) encountering National Curriculum in the infants explained that they have lessons called MummyC and Leprosy (Numeracy and Literacy!)

LucyLastik · 15/09/2011 17:11

We had:

Tissors (scissors)

Vegebubbles (vegetables)

Bider (spider)

Strangled eggs

Ninner (dinner)

Nausages (sausages)

Lackalay (Natalie)

Ewwa (Emma)

Dediden (medicine)

all from DS, 3.3

LucyLastik · 15/09/2011 17:12

Oh and jumpaleeeeeene for trampoline

trailingwires · 15/09/2011 17:37

Ours are/were:
soddiges (sausages)
mote troll (remote control)
scrull and boss bones (skull and cross bones)
jamarmas (pyjamas)
bippers and mips (chicken dippers and chips)
Marks & Spensive
maulk (milk) -used by all 3 so think my pronunciation might have something to do with it Grin

chocolateyclur · 15/09/2011 17:38

"I don't yike it" has stuck with us for the last year and a half.

oldgreybird · 15/09/2011 17:53

My two are grown up now, but some things I remember are: my daughter calling the bin lorry a Dustpan Lorry - and we still use it now. And she had a soft toy rabbit which she used to call Laundry (when we heard this we tried to get her to call her teddy Ironing Board but it didn't work!). My son used to call my daughter Gabbigabba instead of Gabriella - most appropriate it was too! And then there was the Hickhock which was the garden shed - we couldn't work that one out until we realised that they must have overheard us at some point talking about the Hollyhocks that were actually in front of the shed.

deloreshunchfront · 15/09/2011 19:14

I'm Mutzi and when potty training mishaps occurred our DD had accidermients.
Bo bo's for bedtime.

prettydaffodil · 15/09/2011 19:22

My current favourites are that DD (3) calls Wallabies Wobbilies and she's sadly grown out of calling her friend Kasper Cabbage.

Vickisuli · 15/09/2011 20:03

My 2 yo said Farmer Christmas too and also when taken to McDonalds (blush)by my inlaws as a treat called it 'Old McDonalds'

She still calls runner beans - running beans and butternut squash became bunnernun squash

Am now really cross I didn't make a note of these things cos she called dalmations something funny too but can't remember what :-(

Always mean to make a list of cute stuff they say and then they grow out of it before you remember....
