Endearing things DCs say wrongly that you don't correct

As in when they are tiny and learning to speak obv, not revising for Oxbridge entrance exam...

Mine are 'Larf!' for the note that follows 'Sew' in the song Doe a Dear, 'turk-noise' for turquoise, oh and she likes to eat a nice 'cereal bath' every so often. She has recently adapted 'Grandad' to 'Dadgrandad' having noticed I address him as 'Dad'. My Speech Therapist sister used to encourage her very early habit of saying 'moo' when she saw a dog because she found it hilarious, but I drew the line there...

Bit of indulgence for the weekend and I am sick so could use the distraction!

My DS2 (3) has "eyebrowns" instead of eyebrows, and goes to the "cimena". I love both of these Grin

My DS1 had great difficulty mastering his "k" sounds until he was 5, and my DH and I to this day ask one another for a "tuddle" Blush

lisaneedsarest · 13/09/2011 12:19

My ds (4), says Taranchilla (which is what he calls all spiders bigger than a money spider!) I think its cute and make me think of some kind of cross between a a big mean hairy spider and a cuddly furry thing!!
DS2 (2), always asks his daddy if he wants a beard (he means beer!)

Lizzzombie · 13/09/2011 12:30

DS says U-rhinos for urinals.

It took me ages to work out what he meant. I thought his school toilet was decorated with animals.

OpheliaBumps · 13/09/2011 12:36

My favourite from DTD (2). She says Blackpool instead of breakfast, as in 'Can I have some blackpool mummy'. It's so cute I haven't corrected it, and in fact me and DH call it blackpool as well now Grin

pramsgalore · 13/09/2011 12:38

ds says gugglebum for bubblegum, and when he was little he would say onkey ask, for his monkey mask,

BustyStClaire · 13/09/2011 13:10

Cinderella cheese, for mozzerela!

Lemonylemon · 13/09/2011 13:36

DS used to call automatic doors "automagic" doors....

cleanteeth · 13/09/2011 16:37

Today my DS demanded that he have some pizza and carrot in the house as it was getting a bit loud!

Think he meant peace and quiet :o

peeriebear · 13/09/2011 16:41

DD2 is 4 and when the milk was on the doorstep would say "Milk alive!!" (presumably "milk's arrived!")
Now if the milk's here whoever finds it shouts "Milk Alive!!" while DD2 says "no, it's arrived" with a raised eyebrow.

Pinkx3 · 13/09/2011 16:47

My DD2 (3) has quite a few, tortoy (as in 1 tortoy 2 tortoise), gogurt (yoghurt), manilla ice cream (vanilla), opapus (octapus) but by far the best one is fagnamying (don't know how to spell it!!) glass (magnifying glass) Grin

Justonecheese · 13/09/2011 16:50

Labydird for ladybird. Labillit for rabbit. Bullobolly for wobbly. Wish they would stick as I find them so very cute :)

stealthsquiggle · 13/09/2011 16:50

DD (almost 5)'s one remaining ones is that clothes/shoes have always "growed out" of her, rather than the other way around. I shall mourn that when it goes.

mamsnet · 13/09/2011 16:56

My DS (3) used to say "I love you so well" instead of "so much".. I was really Sad when he corrected it.. but now he usually says "I love you too" even before I have told him I love him..

cantpackwontpack · 13/09/2011 17:03

My dd2 called scissors nissors for ages and it was so cute. Now she is almost 3 and much more grown up she calls them snissors Grin

freesiaLiliy · 13/09/2011 17:04

evacuated milk Smile

Proudnscary · 13/09/2011 17:44

My son is nearly TEN and still says 'mines' as in 'yours and mines'
No it's not cute at his age but I am hanging on to any baby talk I can!

SouthernStrumpet · 13/09/2011 22:24

We had 'himomomomous' for hippopotamus from DD2 & DD1 wouldn't go anywhere without her 'bugger' (blanket!) which was quite embarrassing for a while.

AGlassHalfEmptyNoLonger · 15/09/2011 00:19

DS (9) has only just stopped 'yesterday this morning' and 'yesterday tonight' (yesterday morning and last night). We also used to have cogram (program), toytoyse (tortoise) and when he was toddler age, everything was mine, as in 'mine mummy', 'mine nags' (he has Nags and Grumps rather than Nanny and Grandad, but that was my mums choice, not his). Best thing is he won't be corrected so if he is saying something wrong, you just have to keep saying it right and hope he will get it eventually.

M0naLisa · 15/09/2011 00:30

Our ds2(3 - 2 at the time) used to greet us every morning with

Good norning mummy, good norning daddy.

Sadly he can now say morning :(

HipHopOpotomus · 15/09/2011 00:45

Hummous is called Thomas in our house Grin

BustersOfDoom · 15/09/2011 01:05

DS is 24... but these are all from when he was about 5. And we still use these terms....

Cardigans are cardionagains - as in 'if you're cold put your cardi on again...' DS thought that's what it was called and it stuck.

Gherkins are gherks. As in their's a gherk 'in' my burger. I nearly wet myself in BG when he came out with that one and looked all puzzled when we couldn't work out what the gherk was he didn't want to eat.

labrawoman · 15/09/2011 01:17

My son was really proud that his friend at nursery had "special knees".

BustersOfDoom · 15/09/2011 01:21

BK not BG. I blame Wine

Nibledbyducks · 15/09/2011 02:45

DS1 used to call windows pigeons, he also knew that pigeons were called pigeons Hmm
DS3 called crocodiles chocolatedials
DD called the local animal park chocoquaria instead of tropoquaria
DD also used to say "I can't want to" rather than don't, always thought that was more accurate myself.
All members of the family for three generations have called vapour trails drooper trails thanks to my dad.

Nibledbyducks · 15/09/2011 02:48

Also DD, (5), when I say "oh poor DD, you must be tired out" always says "no mummy, I'm tired in! I'm inside!" :)
