I'm interested. There was talk about it at the London xmas meet-up last saturday and there was definate interest. Any chance you could post the link to the web site where you sign in?

JoPG · 02/12/2005 13:21

Here is the link

santaslittleunicorn · 02/12/2005 16:39

me me me!!
Marsy lady was up for this as well wasn't she? and someone else.. was it Cadbury?

Shall try and get entry in - in time this year, missed out last time round.

santaslittleunicorn · 02/12/2005 16:46

am a bit confused (not hard!)

Can you apply online, or do you have to download and print off application form?

Cadeauxbury · 02/12/2005 16:49

Yes, glad I've seen this. I'm up for it. Mars is only just back on line but I'll point her towards this when she's around.

So, are we planning on doing the full one or the half one? Should we try to enter as a team?

NotHavingXmasInChicagomum · 02/12/2005 16:50

That's what I was thinking too, I guess you have to print and post as (a) you need to send a cheque and (b) you have to sign otherwise they say they will send it back.

My problem is I don't have a working printer at the mo. Also want to know there are a few people definately doing it before I commit.

MarsyChristmas · 02/12/2005 16:52

We're planning on doing the full on.

Also... when you apply and the form asks which time you think you will finish in TICK THE FASTEST TIME BOX otherwise you'll not get across the start line for over an hour.

So... cadders etc... are we doing this?

I think we should do it as a team and we should call ourselves The Mumsnet Mommas (just my wee suggestion!)

NotHavingXmasInChicagomum · 02/12/2005 16:54

Of those of you thinking about it do any of you do much walking/power-walking? I originally thought its just a sponsored walk, but looking at the website it seems real training etc is required.

MarsyChristmas · 02/12/2005 16:58

You need to train Chicago. Start now with a couple of miles every few days and slowly build up.

There's a training schedule that you can follow. It's definitely worth it. Also, go to one of those specialist trainer shops and invest in trainers for walking. They will sort the ones that suit your feet and style of walking best. Well worth it.

Going out tonight, but will book my place in the am. Determined to do it again!

Cadeauxbury · 02/12/2005 16:58

okay!

I'm willing to give this ago. I think 2006 ought to be the year of doing new things for me.

MarsyChristmas · 02/12/2005 16:59

Excellent. Click the link and book your place. I'll do mine now.

Cadeauxbury · 02/12/2005 17:03

I can only see the postal way of doing it unless I'm missing a big obvious button that says "enter online here"

santaslittleunicorn · 02/12/2005 17:04

the online one seems to be for volunteers for the playtex walk, not walkers...
so guess will have to try and apply via snail mail.

MarsyChristmas · 02/12/2005 17:05

okay... the online booking is FULL so, download the application and get it in the post TONIGHT if you can or first thing tomorrow... and no being stingy with the stamp. lol

Cadeauxbury · 02/12/2005 17:06

so, are we The Mumsnet Mommas?

MarsyChristmas · 02/12/2005 17:07

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

rummum · 02/12/2005 17:11

I've put my name down for being a volunteer..

NotHavingXmasInChicagomum · 02/12/2005 17:11

Have emailed dh at work to ask him to print of a copy for me so will do it tonight. Do we apply as a group or individually?

Cadeauxbury · 02/12/2005 17:13

Think you have to apply individually but say that you are one of The Mumsnet Mommas

NotHavingXmasInChicagomum · 02/12/2005 17:18

OK will do. This will give me incentive to get fit and slim in the new year.

MarsyChristmas · 02/12/2005 17:20

Right.... I'm off to the post box.

Cadeauxbury · 02/12/2005 17:21

Marsy, are you sure we need to put the quickest time down for this - there is no way in the world I coupd do it in that time.
