Is it short for MAXimillion or is it just MAX?

How many are there on MN? My cousin called her DS MAX but his real name is MAXimillion {sorry about spelling if that is not correct haven't seen it written down yet}

I dont know any boys called Max, but if I were to have another baby and it be a boy I think I would call him Max (however Hubby hates it).

spookyserenity · 30/10/2005 19:52

I don't know any in RL, but the Max in Roswell (TV programme) was short for Maxwell.

GeorgieVickyLou · 30/10/2005 19:52

None

Cam · 30/10/2005 19:52

My nephew is Max (NOT Maximillian) but I do know 2 Maximillians

lalaa · 30/10/2005 19:52

don't know if maximillion or just max

TinyGang · 30/10/2005 19:53

What about Maximus Decimus Meridius? Sorry, saw Gladiator again the other night!

fluffykitten · 30/10/2005 19:54

Do they get called the full name?

Somehow Maxmillian seems a mouthful whereas MAX is a great name

My dp wants Max if bump turns out to be a boy. Im not too sure as I didnt know what it was short for if anything.

Bewitched · 30/10/2005 19:57

1 son of an ex colleague - think he was just Max.

1 son of one of my closest friends. He's Maxilimian (with that spelling - I thought it had 'll' in the middle until she corrected me).

aloha · 30/10/2005 19:58

I know two. Think both were just named Max.

winnie · 30/10/2005 19:59

1 (and I don't know if it is short for maximillion).

1 and yes it is short for the longer version.

littlerach · 30/10/2005 20:00

I know one. He is Maximus in full.

His mum calls him this when he's been naughty.
Also on Xmas cards he is full-named.

Prefer just max.

There's a Max in one of the reception classes at dd's school - he's just Max, not short for anything.

charliebat · 30/10/2005 20:03

1 Maximillion

fluffykitten · 30/10/2005 20:05

Crumbs there seem to be different spellings of it. I will have to check before I send a congrats card.

My DS has a very long name that his schoolfriends shorten but he gets it in full at home.

4 at dd's nursery

Goldfish · 30/10/2005 20:06

I know 1 and he is just Max.

tweetyfish · 30/10/2005 20:07

My brother is Max, short for Maxime (With an M), but that is french...

collision · 30/10/2005 20:07

My ds (2.7yrs) is Max and I LOVE it!!

He is just Max but it can be short for

Maximillian
Maxwell
Maxim
Maximus

We call him Maxi or Maximino as a pet name. It is so easy for him to spell as well.

When we lived in Italy people tried to call him Massimilliano which is ridiculous........imagine trying to spell that for school.

Amai · 30/10/2005 20:13

I know two max's. it is a very popular name just like jack. I would avoid it if i were you.

Miaou · 30/10/2005 20:14

I have a nephew called Max, short for Maximilian (with one l). He is always known as Max though.

hunkerpumpkin · 30/10/2005 20:15

I know one, short for nothing. But his mum was fed up with saying, "Just Max. Not short for anything" because people always assumed there was some longer name she was hiding from them.
