I remember when tapeing the chart was compulsory and reading the lyrics from smash hits was what library time was for.

overdraft, we used to go treking accross the fields with only a bottle of juice to survive and come back 4 hrs later then spend all the summer evenings playing massive games in the streets like dodge ball. Now we would be called a gang and have an ASBO issued .

ScarySkribble · 20/10/2005 21:53

Who was Lindy Layton from beats international? My memory is fading, I take it that was a "band".

spidermama · 20/10/2005 21:54

Pruni - I too suffered highland temperatures as I was brought up in Aberdeen. Brrrrr.

overdraft · 20/10/2005 21:56

Anybody else remember a drink called Midori? It was green and melon flavoured. Played a big part in the first time I ever got pi$$ed. Taboo (red and strawberry flavoured) played a big part in the second....

ScarySkribble · 20/10/2005 22:08

We did british bull dogs v. violent (DS plays bulldogs but sounds different. We played lots of mad up stuff involving bikes and roller skates. We did a sort of roller ball thing that involved trying to score goals while on skates pulled by a bike, loads of skint knees .
I loved midori and taboo, step up from cider and blackcurrant.

hatstand · 20/10/2005 22:12

another one who'd forgotten her madonna phase. she was such a goddess. I had a long white tight skirt made of curtain-like fabric, with a bit of a flower pattern , a flowery t-shirt, (I was being ironic) big fat white belt round my hips, TONNES of jewellry - virtually any old beads I could lay my hands on. including a rosary, and several crucifixs, 3 earings, god alone knows how many bangles and ransom bits of leather, an entire can of hairsray, very dark red lipstick, and black lace-up ankle boots. I think i even used to buy oversized bags of crisps in homage to DSS

hatstand · 20/10/2005 22:13

was just about to ask about taboos otehr half -then i remembered - it was mirage. the alcopops of our day.

3PRINCESSES · 20/10/2005 22:14

Mirage was for girls

SerahScarer · 20/10/2005 22:14

Insette Spikey Hairspray.

Am I the only one whose hair cracked off when touched??????

spidermama · 20/10/2005 22:16

Mine had already melted inside the crimping tongs. What survived was then streched and frayed by vigorous back-combing.

SerahScarer · 20/10/2005 22:16

Oh, and sadly, there is a 2.8i Capri parked at the end of our garden. It just needs its brakes sorting out if anyone is interested?

SerahScarer · 20/10/2005 22:17

Oh god yes.. the backcombing..... hours and hours of

Dh has just reminded me about those teeny tiny pony tails/plaits people had at the back of their wedge haircuts. How could I have forgotten? Sat behind a girl in my form who had one for the whole of the second year in 1983.

SerahScarer · 20/10/2005 22:19

but are your jacket sleeves still rolled up Pruni

SerahScarer · 20/10/2005 22:20

And I thought it was only me that taped the hits off the Chart Show on a Sunday

Roobie · 20/10/2005 22:25

Fiorucci sweatshirts

White lacy tights

Swapping those Virginia Andrews "Flowers in the Attic" books and Jilly Coopers "Imogen", "Octavia" etc...

Corkscrew perms

Gold pixie boots

Drainpipe jeans with coloured piping down the side.

spidermama · 20/10/2005 22:27

Nae bad pruni. Yersel?

I too escaped sharpish.

I used to spend lots of time in Ellon wi' teucherters mind you.

Dodsey · 20/10/2005 22:29

jUst remembered, after my perm we then progressed to hair clippers & shaved the hair away at the sides of our heads, just above the ears!!!Or was this just an East Coast of Scotland thing? Remember cans of Tab, or was that 70's?

spidermama · 20/10/2005 22:32

Dodsey I shaved the sides and backcombed up the top too. I used to carry a Rainmate (old wife hair thing) in my pocket in case of, well, rain. Just a few drops of rain could utterly ruin 7 hours back-combing.
