Diluvio here too, and more of the same tomorrow, uffa!

BananaGio · 16/03/2011 20:20

got soaked coming back from taking ds round to play at a friends house. The said friends mother spent the afternoon telling me about Bendandi and how he predicted Rome will be destroyed by an earthquake on May 11 this year Hmm. She is talking rubbish isnt she?? isnt she...???

OP posts:
Sputnik · 16/03/2011 21:13

Who is Bendandi?
They say Rome can't have strong earthquakes as it's on sand, or something.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/03/2011 21:58

Who is Bendadi? I don't think rome is in a zona sismica

BananaGio · 17/03/2011 06:41

thats what i thought. Apparently he predicted various earthquakes including the one in Fruili. this is him. Like an idiot I did a lot of may 11 googling last night. Dont know whats wrong with me, normally I dismiss all these scare stories (millenium bug, 2012 etc)but this is really on my mind. Maybe its because of all the footage from Japan. Boh!

Back to reality-i think we'll do Argentario. Can get there on the train. Would love to do Siena but is hours on the train. Maybe will rent a car for a few days if i get some invoices paid by then! Am getting very very bored of clients excuses for late payment at the moment

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2011 11:12

Gio, your ds's picture on fb nearly brought tears to me eyes! So sweet Smile

Buon 150 anniversario!

Yes, delaying payments seems to be the norm nowadays (with lame excuses most of the time)

Have a lovely day, it is raining here as usual.

BananaGio · 17/03/2011 11:41

was very cute when picked him up from school yesterday and him and all his little friends were waving their flags. He is not so happy now he has realised that the festa doesn't involve a physical party and cake and candles Smile

Lovely sunny morning then we have just had a mega rainfall and a bit of thunder.
Went to SIl for lunch as we arrived she found that her dd had nits so SIL panic ran to chemist and spent the entire time washing her dd hair. In the end there were only 2 nits bt a fair few eggs. So we sorted out fed the kids and then came home again!
Apparently the chemist saod that they have had a sell out on stuff for nits....So will wait for them as well !
DD1 also came hope with a flag and dh has been all scarcatsic about belusca and napolitano etc all day - real bah humbug. Mind you if this was the Uk there would ahve been street parties and lots of patriotic things going on ...

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2011 14:03

Oh, a sunny day at last!

Rosa, I hope you didn't pick the nits!

Rosa · 18/03/2011 16:23

I went to Ikea this morning as it was 15% sconto for family and I am going to the gym this evening I am mad !!!
I did actually spot the nits as SIl was just sort of picking at the hair. She rand me this am to say no moving nits and teh eggs seemed much smaller the ones that had remained on ...Yes I said that is because they are dying due to the treatment and they will fall off..... Its such a taboo subject here nobody talks about it but they seem to be rife ... I just hope I don't get them as can't wash and dry all the sheets !!!

Francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2011 14:45

Oh, what did you buy? I need to go to Ikea too!

This morning I went to my local market to get cheese/vegetables and pollo allo spiedo for lunch and there was our mayor the evil Moratti walking among "normal people" (la gente) as she is campaigning for the imminent elections. I hope she won't win, lets put it this way Grin

Rosa · 21/03/2011 12:25

I was about to say not alot but I spent Eu400 so not the case! 2 shelves a coat rack ( DH needs to put them up), Coco palm boxes ( they are brown and I like them !) storages boxes and I want to go back and get an iron holder as I do have space for it ...
Plus lots of other very useful stuff.. SOme of which is still in the car as I couldn't carry it !

Sputnik · 21/03/2011 21:06

You got off lightly Rosa!

Rosa · 22/03/2011 13:07

This time but there is lots of room for improvement!!!!
Sunny but cold here !

BananaGio · 23/03/2011 06:53

do we have spring now Smile?? I am full of a cold though - always get something this time of year. Very Envy of your Ikea trip Rosa, I want an Ikea trip! Am now considering renting a car for a few days if can get a good deal when my parents are out so we can go to Tuscany. I need a break!

OP posts:
Rosa · 23/03/2011 12:39

Spring cold ...or is its the start of alergies? Good idea re the car try the small comps as well as the or also use your Uk address and see if its cheaper booking' from England'. I find its cheaper to book 'from Italy' when booking in the UK. ALmost too warm at 12 today collecting minirosa but it was cold at 8.30 taking the dds to school !! Its very quiet round here at the moment FRANCCCCAAAAA dove 6 ? ANd the others ?- I know Buch is alive and kicking as I saw her posting on another thread.
DH put a shelf up last night - I very happy put my books on it and it fell down bringing a bit of wall with it .... ZIo falengame is coming round later !!!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 23/03/2011 14:38

I am here! I went away for 2 days, went along with dh to Cagliari. He had a seminario and I enjoyed the change. Lovely city. Lovely food. Quite a quiet place, very clean etc, a welcome change to bloody Milan.
The population seems to have multiplied recently, it's not just the cars, there is lots of people. I am becoming a hermit Grin

How are you all?

I need a trip to ikea too.

SuiGeneris · 23/03/2011 16:52

Alive and kicking here too. A gorgeous day in London: so sunny and warm I had lunch in the garden and was able to hang the washing in it too (ah the joys of housewifery).

We've been away skiing and it was heaven: no people, mostly good weather and when it snowed- well, I like skiing on fresh snow. Also, my parents looked after DS, so DH and I skied like two lovebirds...

Did you see the Nabucco on 17 March? DS loved it and was first listening v attentively while holding my hand (and stroking it ) then he started waving excitedly at Muti. Clearly my son!

BananaGio · 24/03/2011 06:37

sounds wonderful SG, both lunch in your garden and skiing with DH. And Calgliari with your DH Franca Envy
hows the shelf Rosa? We embarrassingly have to pay a handyman to do anything remotely Ikea connected as we are both so completely useless.

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/03/2011 12:25

Shelf back in box until Friday...... As zio reckons it needs bigger screw thingys. SG glad you had a good holiday and lucky you with teh skiing - I gave my ski jacket away when we moved as DH said it was too 80s!!!
Cagliari I liked when I went it was quiet a quiet place but with some nice buildings.
Getting warmer and warmer I might even go and buy some flowers for pots ( I have half a small fence to fill - ALl the other flats do it and I was told the pots there were from the old owner......I take that as a hint !

Francagoestohollywood · 24/03/2011 13:12

Hello, another sunny warm day in Milan, and oh boy, does the good weather change my outlook on life Grin

SG, happy you had a lovely break up in the mountains.

And I like the idea of having a handyman assembling Ikea stuff Grin

Rosa · 25/03/2011 13:36

silly warm at 12.00 but bloody cold in the am ... Madness! Went for the infiorata today not really sure what it was all about - a priest , the mayor, the madonna and lost of flowers twas nice through and the children liked giving the madonna the flowers....

Francagoestohollywood · 25/03/2011 14:11

What's l'infiorata, I've never heard of it, sounds nice!

Sputnik · 25/03/2011 21:39

Do they not have Infiorate in your neck f the woods? Here lots of places have them, they pave the streets in petals arranged in various designs. Usualy in May though.
Sorry I have been neglecting you! I have been playing with my new friends on Etsy, they are having "euroweek" so been doing lots of promotion and actually sold some stuff! It's been fun.
Also 3x a week for physio for the shoulder, it's working but not left much time for other stuff.
