Ciao tutte!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 25/03/2011 21:40

Sorry, they use lots of !!!s on Etsy, I have to readjust.

Rosa · 26/03/2011 13:36

Glad the physio is working though. And well done on selling stuff. I am wondering if cupcakes would take off here. Selling at £1.80 a bloomin fairy cake I am thinking serious dosh !!!!
Domani is BIL birthday and SIL told us that lunch is at alocal place that we all go to a fair bit. However the cucina is closed this Sunday and its pizzas only. She booked anyway.... So minirosa and I will not be going as minirosa is 2 and although likes a bit of pizza on the side she is is not in love with it and needs topping up. I don't think a packet of grissini will do either... I think his family are ok for a bit and then they go and do something totally off the wall. Its not as if there aren't loads of other places all child friendly ( in same price range) that we can't go to......

Francagoestohollywood · 26/03/2011 15:13

Hello Sput, great about the physio and Etsy, it must be good fun!

Rosa, do they know minirosa won't eat pizza? (Shock at not eating pizza though Grin)... seriously though, I agree with you with all the lovely restaurants doing all sorts of things in Ve, they really sound uncooperative Sad.

We are here today, but are going to the inlaws tomorrow. It'll be nice to leave Milan for a few hrs, but rain is expected, so not sure we'll make the most of the countryside!

Dd is watching Babe, ds is out to play football, so I can relax a bit!

Rosa · 28/03/2011 13:25

Yep they knew - SIl thought I could cook something and take it along in a thermos (FGS) yummy pasta or gnocchi in a starchy mess. The last time I took something for minirosa she was about 10 mths old and on pappe etc. Anyway we stayed at home and she had a mega sleep and we had a good play.
Grey and drizzly here but its due to be only 24 hrs. How was your Sunday - hope it styed dry?
I have only about 3 boxes to go so I am well pleased howver the thought of a cambio stagione is sending shivers down my spine I am NOt ready for that just yet thank you !

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2011 14:09

Did she really expect you to prepare a thermos for Minirosa? Shock!!!

The children had a lovely day yesterday at the inlaws, despite the grey weather (it started to rain in the late afternoon). Ds played with his cousin (di terzo grado) and, as they are both studying the preistoria, they built primitive weapons. Dd played with the rabbits and helped mil making clothes for her dolls. When we had to get going back, she was in tears because we had to leave, so I have promised we'll spend the next weekend there.
Bless her, she is still struggling to spend such a long day at school and still miss the cozy environment of her scuola materna Sad

She used to play maestra a lot last year and she was all sweet etc, now she puts on a stern voice and tells off her "students" all the time Sad

Rosa · 28/03/2011 14:18

Aww honey poor thing are lots of children like this when they start up or is your dd suffering a bit more than others? SOunds as if she had a lovely time .
I haven't spoken to SIL and really don't intend to . This is just what dh said .
Iknow MIL knew a few days beforehand and she would have said something for sure. Just started to tip down now as I have to go and get dd. DH is trying to get home so I don't have to take minirosa...Fingers crossed he makes it in the next 15 mins !

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2011 14:25

Oh no, it always starts to rain when it's the school run, no?

I think the first year at elementari can be hard for many children, in different ways. I remember ds had problems to fit in and also struggled a little with writing etc and this made him apprehensive.

Dd was very lucky at materna, because the children in her class were quite tranquilli and so were the teachers, while now she finds it difficult to cope with the noise and there is a small bunch of badly behaved children and the teachers seem to shout quite a lot. She gets stressed by the constant level of casino, I think (note that the number of children per class has increased this year, and it will only get worse, thanks to tremonti cutting funds to our schools)

Rosa · 28/03/2011 17:55

Dh made it home ----Phew as it tipped it down , it seems to have eased off now.
I hope it gets better for dd what do her teachers say about her ?

Sputnik · 28/03/2011 20:59

Franca that sounds like a lovely sunday, I hope you were relaxing while all this creative play was going on! Hope your DD can adjust soon, I think the teacher can make a big difference too, maybe next year she will do better.
Sorry about your ILs Rosa, but look on the bright side you were spared from going!
God I feel like a vecchietta today, I fell over in the Poste (I sat on a chair that wasn't there Blush), and fell putting my weight on the bad shoulder. ouch

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2011 21:51

Ouch Sputnik, your poor shoulder! You poor thing (sounds like something that could happen to me, sitting on a chair that it is not there... maledette poste!)
How is master sputnik?

Rosa, the teachers are extremely happy of dd, they tell me that she seems perfectly adjusted (and I can see her with her peers, she seems so self confident and smiley etc), she probably just melts down at home, poor dd.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2011 21:51

Oooh yes, I was relaxing, I read all the papers!

Sputnik · 28/03/2011 22:06

Yes it is all the fault of the Poste, not making their rows of seats long enough!
Master Sputnik doing well, settled back at nursery and they say he has progressed. I need to make an apt this week to talk to DD's school about him starting in sept.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2011 22:09

Arg school already, he was a tiny toddler a minute ago Smile!

Sputnik · 28/03/2011 22:16

I know!
(He is still my little sausage though)

Rosa · 29/03/2011 12:44

Don't minirosa should be starting materna in Sept but I see her now as just too small - she is talking more but she is still a baby .:Well I suppose she will always be my baby anyway !
Sput that is good that he is making progress and Franca pleased about the teachers its sad about teh meltdown and it must get you worried I know it would me.
We might go to Verona zoo domani but it is 1hr45 in the car not sure if the dds will manage it. Gardaland is nearer 1hr15 but thats booked for April ! BUt we can't think of anything else to do as a family other than a day trip to Jesolo and we want to do something before we get busy with tours etc ....

Francagoestohollywood · 29/03/2011 13:20

You hjave just reminded me that I really should take the dc to Gardaland, they'd love it. I think I can use the punti from Esselunga to get tickets... mmmm tempting!

Take them to the zoo, they'll love it! (don't they fall asleep on the car?)

eurocommuter · 30/03/2011 13:11

Ciao Tutte
Sorry to have been so quiet. Manic at work and home. We got flooded and I'm we are still cleaning up. Thnak goodness the whther has improved. All else is well though.

How is everyone?

P45, welcom. The BBC shop are selling the Muzzy Italian at a discount because they have now incorporated the 5 languages in to one pack for the same price £150 Blush. They are trying to get rid of the signle language packages. I don't know if that is helpful. People rave about them but i have never had the stomach to pay the price.

Hope you are all well.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/03/2011 13:38

Hello Eurocommuter! Nice to see you, and Shock at getting flooded. How, when, why?

eurocommuter · 30/03/2011 17:52

Ciao Franca
Strangely it never made the news. But we had 'torrential' rain for 3 days and the rivers just burst. It was most of Le March and some of Abruzzo. Our whole scantinato was flooded. Lost a lot of books. Other than that niente grave.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/03/2011 22:05

Oh no, what a nightmare though. No, I didn't read anything about flooding in Le marche! How is ds, is he settled in the new school?

BananaGio · 31/03/2011 06:16

poor you EC! Wonder why it wasnt on the news? Hows the shoulder Sput?
Took DS for his private eye test yesterday after the fiasco last month and all is fine, has no issues, eye sight fine. Took nearly an hour in there and did a zillion tests so am really pleased I took him.

Francagoestohollywood · 31/03/2011 13:57

Ah good news Gio Smile

Rosa · 31/03/2011 14:12

Gio what a relief afater the hassle you went through with the useless docs..why do they bother and stress you out so much ?
Euro there was nothing in the news but sorry about the books , glad it was nothing more serious.
We did go to the zoo safari- it wasn't Windsor but it was good and the animals looked well cared for and not stressed which always worries me. The dds had a great time I was shattered at the end of the day mind you we did call into Decathlon on the way home as dd needed new trainers. She is in the middle of a size ( as usual) so we had on about 8 pairs ( and of course minirosa wanted to try on as well. The Decathlon own diddn't fit her so she has a pair of Nikes!!!! I needed to look for me - NOt a hope!

Francagoestohollywood · 31/03/2011 14:17

Ah, a trip to Decathlon after the zoo safari, you are brave Rosa Grin

I need a pair of new trainers too, my New Balance must be now 4 yrs old and are compltetely knackered. I was thinking a pair of Adidas... (I love a good pair of trainers, I've been loyal to NB for yrs now, as I find them perfect to walk in)

Rosa · 31/03/2011 14:20

We drove right past it on the way home so it seemed silly not to stop or spend a fortune in foot locker as that is the only alternative in Venice city- she needs something for gym club and also running round !
