Oh well done rosa, sometimes some good old retail therapy can lift the spirit a little bit Grin, especially after a bad night.

I need to find the inspiration to do some cooking NOW. Ds is at a friend and then going to football, dd is playing Barbies with a friend, so peace reigns... and I really should get moving... che palle, I am fed up of cooking!

BananaGio · 21/03/2012 18:01

fed up with cooking as well franca which is why tonight with dp out me and ds are feasting on frozen chips and fishfingers!
Rosa poor you-sounds like a challenge! How is mini rosa reacting seeing dd1 going ahead on the star chart? Your outfit sounds lovely.
I have hurt my ankle-have become a 30 day shred dvd fan over the last month but think some of the new level I am doing has been harsh on my ankle and am hobbling like an old woman.Am loving the exercise though (a phrase that I dont think have uttered before and am 4 kilos down so far) - long way to go though...
Pippi dont be a stranger- come and offload if you need to

Gio, wow 4 kilos already, that is quite a lot!

And yummie at fish fingers and chips. I ended up making a sugo with some triglie I had in the freezer, to go with some rice. Boh. Totally uninspired.

Sputnik · 22/03/2012 09:37

Wow Gio I am impressed. I actually bought the shred DVD and never opened it Blush.
I got my DD to choose what to have for dinner tonight, as DH is away she choose pankakes. So pancakes it is, with tomatoes and cheese followed by honey and lemon.

Rosa · 22/03/2012 12:44

Minirosa is sort of taking it in she is not throwing tantrums when DD1 gets a star and infact they found the pintpon fairy I had bought for her in terraferma . She accepts when we say no cartoons, Ipad, parties infact she doesn't seem that bothered. Last night she woke every 2 hrs. The first was an obvious nightmare shouting non tocca a te . I went and calmy spoke her through it and tried to take her for a wee. hence tantrum starting. 'voglio andare , voglio andare'....'Dove' says I - no answer. Then aquya , aqua aqua - shouting jumping up and down. I give her aqua but its in the orange bottle not the yellow , tantrum - so she doesn't get any water. Then she says pee pee so off we go and she did actually quieten down by then. We had a long cuddle and she went to sleep. Only to wake again and agian. DH managed to get her off once. joint effort second and the 3rd I brought her in with us as she was going to kick off again. SO no star again .
GIo well done on the 4kg. I see posts on the dvd shred but I haven't tried it - I ought to as all this lack of sleep is leaving me with no energy so I am snacking again.
As for food it will be fishfingers for us sta sera - Mind you dd has party No2 this afternoon and I know there will be losts of food so I only have to think of minirosa really....

Francagoestohollywood · 22/03/2012 16:22

Salivating at honey and lemon pancakes!!! I want them now!

Rosa, oh dear, waking up every 2 hrs??? I feel for you my dear. Has anything happening at materna? Or is she "growing" a lot (like making cognitive progress) and is unsettled by it in a way?
So sorry to hear your nights are soooo hard going.

I am taking ds to swimming class in 2 minutes. I think I am making pasta with cime di rapa, given that dd is having dinner at my mum's and she is not keen, while we all like them.
Also, dh found yesterday that his colesterolo is high, so I suppose he needs to watch what he eats. He'll disappear, he is so thin! Plus, we don't cook particularly fat food, what do I do??? che palle! Grin

Rosa · 22/03/2012 21:21

I think we should food idea swap to boost our boring menus as mine are getting sempre the same and I need to do some changing.
Franca what a worry my Mil has colesterolo and the doc said cut, salami and all secciati,( duro x lei) burro- fritti, panna. But she doesn't do it all the time. Is there something he is eating that is boostung the levels? She also drinks the yoghurts but I think they are a finto.
Minirosa seems happy at school but the first wake is normally a brutto dream then it goes worse . Even in the gym they said I looked tired. Today she had a nice day only one tantrum over a please that I won't budge on ( and she refused to say). We are trying to be calmi in the evenings and do story reading, canzoni coccole and baci before bed. Tonight she has woken once took 20 mins to settle so I am dreading what is going to come now.
Still thinking about the shred!!!!!!!!!!!
Sput what are you making now ? Not seen any links on Fb recently.

BananaGio · 22/03/2012 21:32

The Shred is fab! 20 minutes a day. I sweat like a pig Grin so it must be doing something and am losing cm. Decided to judge more by the cm loss than the weight loss as my weight fluctuates daily! Rosa ds always wakes up a few hours after going to sleep due to incubi and by 2 in the morn can normally be found in our bed! I havent the energy or will to fight it!
Yes lets switch recipes although at the moment mine would be boil Giovanni Rana ravioli for 4 minutes!

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 23/03/2012 13:00

Oh yes, lets swap menus! Sounds like a brill idea! Smile

Rosa, I think colesterolo runs in dh's family... Hmm, and both his grandparents died of a heart attack, and 2 of his uncles have bypasses etc. His brother found out he has colesterolo alto a few months ago. So he needs to watch what he eats. We eat quite healthily, though I do bake a cake once a week (and he loves cakes/puddings etc), and he loves focaccia with prosciutto in the morning and pancakes for breakfast on saturdays. He is very thin, so he's never had to "think" at what he eats iyswm.

I hope minirosa has a better day today, and a better night. Perhaps it is all linked to her growing up, sometimes nightmares are a sign of more awareness of the world. Boh, poor minirosa and poor parents!

Tonight we are having lasagne ai carciofi made by my mother. And I will make peperonata. The children don't like cooked artichokes, so giovanni rana raviolli for them! (Giovanni Rana should be given a noble prize, btw!)

Francagoestohollywood · 23/03/2012 13:01

ravioli and nobel, of course

Rosa · 23/03/2012 15:29

dh and I are going out , we really need at right now as in really as no2 daughter is pushing us to the limit ....
Boring pasta al sugo here either sta sera o domani but I have put pancetta in it , then pollo impanata probably with mash ..They won't have both as its either a primo o secondo...... ( I have got both so the babysitter can have what she wants.) I am also a fan of giovanni rana but my 2 only like the proscuitto ones . I am the only one who likes carciofi in this house so we never have them.....

Francagoestohollywood · 23/03/2012 16:18

Grin well done for going out Rosa, have fun!!!! Are you going to one of those divine gems that are hidden in Venice? Well, if you have baccala mantecato please think about me!

Rosa · 27/03/2012 12:34

We ended up in oue of our old haunts and had a lovely meal , with not that much wine but it was lovely. We hope to do it again and soon !!!!
Having said that minirosa has another febbre ....She has been well since March7th ....yesterday she said she had mal di gola , pancia e gamba !!! However today she says that nothing hurts . THis am it has been sitting at 37.3 so waiting to see what happens this afternoon......

BananaGio · 27/03/2012 13:11

bring on summer and an end to these bloody viruses. hope minirosa ok this pm. ds off school with an earache, 20 mins after the nuroflex he was bouncing around playing current fave game of Roma vs Lazio (who always lose by about 20 goals) with a foam ball. Complained of it again about 20 mins ago so had another dose. certainly doesnt seem ill though and I think I may have been had by a 5 year old Hmm
glad you had nice eve out Rosa. DP and I went out the other day to the cinema to see the latest Carlo Verdone and had a drink. We tend to do the social things separately or together with ds, very rare its just me and him.
Franca dp had fairly high cholesterol readings as well a year ago- he's pretty thin and exercises so he cut out his evening habit of mini wurstels as a snack, hunks of cheese and piles of mortadella while waiting for dinner and last test showed it had gone back down...
Such a gorgeous day, really cannot be bothered to work- want to sit in the sun and read my kindle.

Francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2012 16:03

hello my dears, I am happy to hear you both had a lovely night out with your other halves...

I am, on the other hand, rather pissed off with mine, but before I write all down I need to cool off a bit otherwise it will all be gshiosgfhoig

Sputnik · 27/03/2012 16:07

Hey Gio I started with the shred today and really enjoyed it, well parts of it were tough but I felt great after, I'm hoping to emulate your lost centimetres. It's either that or buy new underwear. Anyway I'm thinking 20 minutes of anything is bearable, no?
Franca apparently oats are good for lowering cholesterol and macadamia nuts, they are really tasty too.

Sputnik · 27/03/2012 16:08

Oh go on, have a rant Franca :o

Rosa · 27/03/2012 16:18

Thats it going on Amazon now . I do 3X50 mins of walking look on youtube to see what it is ...... is on a walking machine to music and its 500 calories but I am not going down .... So an extra 20 mins a day will help me thinks.
Franca breathe , have a glass of wine or a coffee then come back and tell us more..... MIne has been a good doc to minirosa today and he is also doing it tom as I am going to anticipate my other teaching day incase she is still ill ...but I don't think so but at least I am covered and the bimbi love Easter bingo !
infact I am going tonight but hell its warm I will be a slimy mess afterwards....

Francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2012 16:20

Thanks for all the anti cholesterol suggestions, though at the moment I am tempted to hide eggs, gorgonzola and kilos of lardo in his lentils... grrrr

Oh, I have booked and actually paid the flight tickets for the 4 of us to go to the bloody US in June, as he said he was free, and how nice it'd be to travel with the dc. So I carefully planned a great itinerary, booked hotels and as I said, actually paid for the tickets, as it was a good offer and it couldn't wait.

In the meantime dh applied for a stellar grant. Still told me it was ok to book the effing trip. Turns out he has passed the first stage of his application. He needs to go for the interview exactly on the day we should be flying to the US. Oooooh I should be proud to have a smart dh. Well I am, but for fuck's sake????? ghiòghògjiò

Sputnik · 27/03/2012 17:11

Rosa, it's this: right?
Yay, we can all get shredded together :) I personally have some way to go before I look like the girls in the DVD though.

Franca I can see why you are annoyed, we had similar over easter waiting to book while DH confirmed his work travelling, meanwhile prices went up...
On the other hand getting a grant sounds pretty important, what will you do, change the tickets? Or he comes a day later?

Sputnik · 27/03/2012 17:17

Oh good grief, I forgot about links here

Francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2012 17:20

I know, I know that getting a grant is very important, I really hope he gets it, to be fair Smile.
But he totally forgot to mention he might have had an important interview, before I bought the tickets (and i double checked before I bought them).
The tickets aren't refundable, btw. Yes I think we'll go, and he will join us 2 days afterwards. Ma che palle!

Rosa · 27/03/2012 17:22

OH Bugger and SFW ( only to be used in extreme circumstances....) I am guesisng huge penalties to change the flights even for 1 let alone 4. If it is a proper carrier IYKWIM then you need to split the booking for 4 into 2 and then try to do the changes and apply charges. But the thought of a 10 hr flight with 2dc is not my idea of fun.... However well done to your DH ..I am guessing that there is no way for such an important thing he can change the date???

Francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2012 18:56

Oooh I feel like crying now. I was really, really looking forward to this trip.
I don't know re the tickets, tomorrow I will go and ask the travel agent. I know that the tickets aren't refundable.
Do you think he'll be able to keep the ritorno and do a different andata?
I think I will be all right on the flight with the children, they are big now. Just worried of being on my own with them until he arrives, I also get very apprehensive when he flies on his own. Che palle, che palle.

Rosa · 27/03/2012 20:12

Ok IMO don't rush into anything. Travel agents can often not do anything but often they can........ If you have booked flights via an agency then they will be able to which class ( ticketing ) you are in and if the date can be changed. Bookings can easily be split they just need to take dh from your booking and rebook his andata. They should be able to see that on the computer terminal and be able to give you a price quote. It is possible with all major airlines BA/Alitalia etc. If you have a booking reference the you can also go online and look for yourself and see if you can change. Or contact the airline direct. Often agents are reluctant to changes because of comission however now that so much can be done online they should bend over backwards inorder to keep the business.
Where are you flying to first? I am sure you can cope as you are capable and you will be so jet lagged when you get there then you won't even be able to stress about dh ........
Fammi sapere ....
