LaRagazzaInglese · 21/04/2011 15:22

Can I interrupt?
Can anyone tell me the names of some good bilingual websites, or sites where I can buy CDs of Italian nursery rhymes, or books, that sort of thing?
Thanks, ciao for now!

Rosa · 21/04/2011 16:47

Try Amazon.it its not been going long but you might find something there.
Bilingual web sites I don't know but Disney has a site in Italian and another in English !

LaRagazzaInglese · 21/04/2011 22:05

Thank you! I'll start there...

Rosa · 22/04/2011 12:37

Just seen a ad on JimJam (TV) for Magic internet for children - interactive site or something .....SO you could have a look at that as well.

Venice is full get me out of here before I do something serious to a tourist like ram them with a buggy ......

Francagoestohollywood · 22/04/2011 13:12

Lol Rosa!

Madreinglese, I second Amazon.it and also suggest to have a look on www.deakids.it for games and suggestion of tv shows you might find in Italian (my children can't get enough of a serialization of Pippi Calzelunghe which was made in the early 1970s Grin)

Rosa · 24/04/2011 08:07

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2011 11:18

Buona Pasqua!

Sorry to hear about bugs and maldipancia, it's awful.
We are in the countryside and the sun has finally made an appearance.

Also, buon 25 aprile for tomorrow, not sure I'll be able to go online then. Ciao!

Rosa · 24/04/2011 12:53

Oh our mal di pancia vanished thankfully and she has eaten a rosat meal .....
Gio sorry about the D&V bugs they are just foul... If you can get the strong fermenti lattici for the adults they really help to get you back on track - The pwders that you add with water.
The asparagus lasagne I am making it up !!! Going to saute the asparagus with a bit of onion . and chopped pancetta ( smoked). Then mixing with bechamel and daddi di smoked ham and layering.
Oh 25 Aprile ...Good I need a few roses here !!!
Have fun in the countryside and have a good picnic ...I do wish we had gone with the BBQ griligiata...... Never mind next time !

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2011 15:32

Ah goo Rosa.

Not having a fantastic day, I am a bit pissed off with part of the family, tis a long story though and I don't have the energy to discuss it really, as I am feeling very putdown.

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2011 15:33

good

BananaGio · 25/04/2011 06:53

sorry to hear that Franca, let off steam if you need to here.
Bloody raining here. Not happy! Feel like have wasted loads of time when my parents are over with illness and not ready for them to go back this week Sad

Rosa · 25/04/2011 14:43

Oh Franca sorry you have not had a good day - hope toay is better. My lasagne was yummy .. I actually cooked the asparagus first and then put in in the dish with sauce and then when I had layered it all before the lasy topping of bechamel I poked the layes with a squewer and poured some of teh asparagus water in to help cook.
The pork was pork fillet rolled in curry powder and cooked in the oven in melted butter ( basted regularly ) and the mustard sauce was yum.... We have all eaten too much and I would like t o go for a run ...But I don't like running !!!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2011 21:04

Mmmmm sounds delicious Rosa!

Thanks girls, well, tis a long story... basically there is a relative of dh whom we are very close to, who is always having a go at me in a very passive aggressive way, and I really can't cope anymore. Dh isn't at all a bit supportive, and at times I really feel like I want to run 1000 miles away.

Gio, yes, how sad that your parents are leaving and you didn't manage to do the things you had planned. It's hard.

I had a much better day yesterday anyway, as we saw friends we hadn't seen for a while and their children are lovely, which is always Smile

Rosa · 28/04/2011 13:21

Dh stuffed up the computer and I can't access just about anything ... I am so cross as I am now behind with everything and parents are coming on Mon and I have anticipated my English class...grrrrr
Franca can Dh not see / hear what this relative is like ? I get very uptight about my ILs as you know but I just have to ride with it at times. I have put my foot down about dd going to Nonnas too much as Nonna doesn't smoke in front of her but Dd comes hoem smelling like an ashtray ...I want Dh to give her articles on passive smoking but he just shrugs his shoulders.
Gio sorry it hasn't been 100% fun with your parents with illness etc Hope the last few days were better.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/04/2011 13:54

Grrrr that's annoying Rosa.

No, dh doesn't see it. I suppose people could argue that he is always lost in his own world, but you know what, I am fed up. Actually, not fed up, really depressed by the fact that I am the fucking emotional target of the whole family (btw, she always has a go at sil too, but bil put his foot down).

Sorry for the rant, but I am really really annoyed Sad

Rosa · 28/04/2011 16:23

Can your BIl not put his foot down for you as well ??? Or get cross with your Dh and say you refuse to see this relation again until it stops.... It is obviously upsetting you so I would keep going on at him ...... Lost my muffin receipe and need to use up some chocolate.....

Sputnik · 28/04/2011 21:09

Ah Franca that sounds crap. I would be tempted to fly off the handle with this person, it might clear the air a bit.
Sorry you've all been sick Gio.
We went to Toscana for Easter, it was nice even though I had a really bad cold, now sinusite, I am still trying to recover. Tomorrow I've got my sister coming, we might go to the beach briefly tomorrow as the rest of the weekend looks awful, weather wise.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/04/2011 21:36

Yes, my only problem is that I am not good at answering back/fighting my own corner etc, I just storm off in a strop looking like a teenager... uffa!

Hello Sputnik, sorry about your sinusite (awful). But Toscana... awww how lovely Smile

Btw, dh has just come back from the UK with a Royal Wedding mug and a copy of the guardian and grazia. I am slightly less pissed off at him.

On the other hand, I have dd who is being a miserable cow, and I am really starting to loose the plot. Aiuto!

Sputnik · 28/04/2011 22:18

If you want a moan about 6-7 yo DDs I will join in!
You first...

Francagoestohollywood · 29/04/2011 14:14

Oh Sputnik, I don't know, she is weird. Not stroppy or anything like it, but she looks very unhappy and goes through days when she eats very little, even her brother notices and worries.

I think many children find it difficult to adapt to the first year of elementare, and she is always wants to do extremely well, I think she is a bit stressed out, and the way she is showing it is eating very little, instead of tantrumming. And this is worrying me and I don't know what to do.

What about yours?

Sputnik · 29/04/2011 21:48

Ah mine is stroppy!
But also goes through phases of saying things like "I don't like myself". I think she's looking for a reaction tbh.
Yours sounds more serious, I would worry too. Is there something maybe she's not telling you about that's bothering her? (ok, silly question). I think the best you can do is try and make her feel secure and loved, which I'm sure you're doing. Hope she perks up soon.
