Ciao tutte!

What do you tell her when she says she doesn't like herself? Is she fishing for compliments do you think?

Yes, I'd prefer if dd channeled her frustrations and stress into a nice big strop. I am worried, to be honest and I think I'll have a word with a psychologist I know for advise.
I feel guilty, as I wonder if it's me who encouraged her to be so bloody perfect Sad. At school is is good as gold, if you look at her playing with her peers she is relaxed, friendly, etc.
Btw, she seems happier today and has had a very good breakfast. She might be also very tired. Boh!

Francagoestohollywood · 30/04/2011 11:36

Btw, I am not a perfectionist at all, far from it.

Rosa · 30/04/2011 13:21

mmm that is a worry Franca - I would as you say seek professional advise as how to handle her . Is she close to say a nonna who maybe she would open up a bit more about how she feels. I have heard that often this helps ..sometimes they don't say all to the parents.
Sput great about Toscana but sorry about the cold ..get the areosol out. How is your shoulder btw?
I am having a nightmare with the popes vist and closures etc etc .( we have groups arriving.
He is coming in by boat and I would take teh dds to see it as there are a few places that we might be able to see him along a canal. However he is arriving between 12.30 and 13.30 how antisocial a time is that? DD1 might understand the wait for pranzo but minirosa certainly won't!

eurocommuter · 01/05/2011 12:18

Hello
Hope you all had a nice easter!. I'm okay. Just taking it easy as I felt shattered for weeks.
Not much to report here. Just contemplating going to visit a friend who' s children have chicken pox so mine can get it now. Not sure if i will go through with it.

Gumpy 7 year olds? I have a boy. He is so stroppy and gets so angry that he loses it. It scary. I can get him to say why he gets so angry.

Bouna Domenica!

Francagoestohollywood · 02/05/2011 12:45

Hello Euro, glad to hear from you!

Rosa, dd is very close to both her nonne, but hasn't so far said more than she usually say to me, that she is tired and doesn't want to go to school.

She had a lovely weekend (and has eaten more) but yesterday night she cried as the weekend was over. I encouraged he to have a big cry, I think it is much better if she lets out her frustration, iyswim...

Euro, to be honest I wouldn't bother seeking chicken pox deliberately, if your youngest is still at materna she'll catch it sooner or later...

Rosa, did you got at the end?

Rosa · 03/05/2011 14:06

Pope is here next wekend... Nonni here from Uk now so everybody happy !
I woudln't go withe the chicken pox either. Minirosa got a very mild form of it by sheer accident and she had teh vaccination as well....

Francagoestohollywood · 03/05/2011 14:21

Oh how lovely, enjoy the nonni Smile

Rosa · 05/05/2011 13:51

they go home domani..all too short!

Francagoestohollywood · 05/05/2011 13:59

Oh no, that was too short indeed!

Sputnik · 06/05/2011 22:27

Very short!
I had my sister over for last weekend, taking advantage of the royal wedding holiday. I think I quite like 4 day visits!
So who came home with lovely lavoretti for mother's day then? I have to admit I am the most unsentimental person, but I love them!

Francagoestohollywood · 07/05/2011 20:19

Ciao, how great that your sister came to see you Sput!

Mine made a few cards, but ds hasn't given me his yet, I think he had to write a letter thing. I have to say that the lavoretto that moved me to tears has been the pulcino ds made for Easter, he learnt how to make pon pon at school (how do you call pon pon in english? boh) and he was so pride. Now he spends most of his free time making wool pon pons... Smile

Had a lovely saturday taking dd to a party in a cascina on the outskirts of milan, chatting to other parents in her class, some are really nice.
I wanted to go see Pisapia (the mayor candidate) but didn't find the time, such a shame.

Sputnik · 07/05/2011 22:02

I guess a pon pon is a pom pom!
We had a nice saturday too, the DCs played nicely together all day, which must be some kind of miracle!

Francagoestohollywood · 07/05/2011 22:26

Oh it's great when they play well together, makes you feel all proud and warm inside.

Pity that my evening is being ruined by bloody milanisti taking to the streets to celebrate the scudetto and beeping their horns under my windows, grrrrrr.

Rosa · 08/05/2011 13:33

I have just seen the pope......How few people were out on the fondamenta I was so surprised I imagined it to be jam packed .....ANyway thats my bit done now so dd can say that mamma took her to see the pope!!!
I had 2 pics done at 7am this am with a note from dh saying I have a buono for a telefono nuovo !!! ( Ist time he has remembered without prompting). Plus a lovely heart thing done by dd at school.
I have a volcano cake to start making this pm so am hoping teh dds will play nicely for mummys day ...hmmmmmmm

Francagoestohollywood · 09/05/2011 10:06

BananaGio · 10/05/2011 07:22

Woken with mal di gola and aching limbs Sad

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2011 12:48

Rosa · 10/05/2011 12:50

I have a funny cold its sort of in my throat ( but seems now to be migrating towards my nose....)Lodas fo dd1 school off with febbre and tosse..Ma I thought spring was supposed to take teh bugs away not bring new ones back ?

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2011 12:55

I think that spring's erratic weather always triggers colds! Plus all sorts of allergies, dh doesn't like pollen at all.

BananaGio · 10/05/2011 13:14

got febbre now che palle!!!
Went to see Habemus Papam Franca with dp when my parents were over. good film

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2011 13:27

Rosa · 11/05/2011 10:15

BananaGio · 11/05/2011 10:26

I know people who have taken the day off work and kept kids off school because of the fear. It was even mentioned on Sky news this morn!

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2011 13:42

Gio, it really sounds like a full on flu, poor you.

Yes, I've just read how empty Rome is today (as if you avoid the earthquake staying at home!), it could be a great day to go shopping!

My dc's school will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for the elections, and they'll leave early on Friday, it is quite a welcome break, as they are super tired.

Sputnik · 11/05/2011 17:14

Still no earthquake here!
Hope you're feeling better soon Gio.
