Morning All!

I have to confess thatI did test (had one in my drawer so it was impossible not to) and obviously it was negative. Does make me wonder why I keep feeling so sick though. Most perculiar!

I think that your plan for not telling DH unless you need to is a very sensible one. Definitely no need to worry him if it's not your MS. Fingers crossed that it is all ok.

bebejones · 12/05/2011 12:25

SWI - that sucks, but at least you know. Maybe all the flying etc has messed things up a bit?!

Have spoken to GP who thinks foot thing is MS, but asked me to ring my specialist nurse for a course of action & get back to him. So more waiting & hanging around! The nurses usually take days to get back to me & I'll have to tell DH before I get a confirmation of treatment, which sucks!

ShaggingWithIntent · 12/05/2011 14:20

Yeah possibly. Goodness only knows :)

Is there any way you can go for the appointment without telling your DH? I really hope that the Drs are wrong and that there is some other explanation. How long do your relapses usually last?

bebejones · 12/05/2011 15:33

Well I have to wait for the nurses to call back, and sometimes that can be in the evening when DH is home. If he picks up he's gonna want to know why they are calling! Hoping that I won't have to go and see them, and if they want me to have the steroid treatment I'm going to ask if they can agree to my GP giving me oral treatment like last time, rather than me having to go in to hospital every day for 3 days to have it IV. (Having a canula left in with a toddler around is not good!!)

Relapses are funny things. You never know when one is coming, or where it's going to attack, or how long it's going to last, or if it's going to get completely better! Last time I was better within a month, but we caught it early. My 'first' one (when I was diagnosed) lasted for nearly 6months, because I didn't get treated for 2 months! So who knows! Hmm

Ahhh WhyWait! How sweet.

Bebe sorry to hear about your symptoms, I hope you get some answers soon. I'm sad that you can't talk to your DH about it and share your worries with him. Will keep things crossed for you that it's not too serious.

SWI - ah, you are joining us with the charting madness! Be warned it's really hard not to obsess over what every single temperature means at the beginning. My chart made no sense at all until I'd been doing it about 7 weeks and a pattern started to finally emerge. Of course until that point I was convinced my stupid body (or my thermometer) was faulty!

squirrel007 · 12/05/2011 23:10

Great photo whywait, sounds like you had a good scan! Cute to think of the baby sucking it's thumb already :)

swi sorry about the negative, but hope the charting will give you a good idea of what's going on.

bebe hope the nurses call you back soon and you can get checked out. It's a bit rubbish that they take days to get back to you though. Have you spoken to your DH about it?

Counting down the days now, only 25 working days left!!

Anyone watching the apprentice? I am loving the episodes so far :) DH has always refused to watch, but I may have got him hooked this year.

bebejones · 13/05/2011 08:31

WW - that's so nice that you had a good scan.

Squirrel - are you crossing the days off on a calendar? :o

Haven't spoken to DH, he was in a foul mood last night and absorbed in work all evening. Just couldn't face telling him :(

nannyl · 13/05/2011 08:40

Good morning everyone.

Whywait i LOVE your picture.... so clear.. agree seeing baby for the first time is just magic Smile

Bebe so sorry again about what Dr says, and hope you can tell DH soon. Fingers crossed it wont be too bad, and might give DH kick up bum with regards to TTC to help your MS...

Squirrel, enjoy crossing off the days.. everything seems to be coming round so quick. (my friend (the 1st person i mentioned TTC to) who is 9 weeks ahead of me packed her hospital bag yesturday... which means its getting very real for her now... and im not that far behind.... )reality is in 2 weeks time MY baby might be viable.

SWI sorry for -ve

Whats happening here today.. not much really... OH has car as it needs MOT / service (fingers Xed its all fine)
Midwife this morning... MUST get up... lol
My friend (7 weeks behind who lives round corner) is coming round for tea and cake this afternoon with her girls (2 & 4)
Also might make some brownies or something....

Tomorrow NCT nearly new sale, to hunt some more bargains, Sunday Family dinner as OH's grandma's birthday.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend Smile

AmandaCooper · 13/05/2011 08:51

Oh wow I love the scan photo it's amazing how clearly you can see every part of him/her! Really good to hear that everything's going well. I can't believe it's been 31 weeks already doesn't time go so fast! These babies are all going to be here soon.

In fact thinking about it there must be people who were waiting when I joined MN who are now on to #2 - or at least waiting TTC #2. Good job I'm in the home stretch - 44 days waiting remaining.

Bebe I'm sorry it's not good news for you hon, hopefully it won't be a bad flare up and they'll nip it in the bud.

Quod it took me a few months to start producing charts that actually looked like they made some sense. I can't for the life of me think why, I think it disturbed my sleep subconsciously as I learnt to remember to do it iyswim.

bebejones · 13/05/2011 10:44

Spoke to nurse, she says if it gets worse over the weekend to call her on Monday & she'll get me in to see the consultant asap for evaluation. Got opticians in the morning, hopefully he can sort my eye out & that's not MS! FX!!

Nannyl - All getting very real for you too then! Very exciting! Get ready to sharpen your elbows for the NCT bunfight!! Wink

AC - I think there is someone from my MN antenatal thread with DD who is PG with her 3rd! On our antenatal thread she was having her 1st!! Shock 3 in 3 years!!!

nannyl · 13/05/2011 10:52

bebe, fingers crossed things stay the same (or better) over weekend.

Just been to midwife.... everything fine, as it shoud be, no worries at all. Was asking again about homebirth but they dont give anything away until 34 weeks. Told her i had a birth pool already though and that i am 100% serious that baby WILL be born at home, so long as no obviouse major complications become apparent before hand Smile

Got my elbows ready.... we will be there early and i have my NCT card so we can get in first before everyone else... this will be my 3rd so im getting rather good at it now.

I have been in mumsnet for years and years now, definitely more than 6 years, probably nearer 10 years as i discovered mumsnet not long after NJ and been there 10 years already. bizarre how time flies, and NJ logs how many HOURS of my life i have been logged in and active online for.... I am at over 100 days, so that 2400 hours of my life so far actually active on NJ.... and that counter didnt start at the beginning! Shock
Never used to look at pregnancy / birth stuff though, just CM / nanny / au pairs!

jbells · 13/05/2011 17:16

JBells are you having a section? Have I missed this??

OP posts:
squirrel007 · 13/05/2011 18:55

nannyl I forget how many weeks behind me you are, but I remember when I got to 24 weeks and being quite scared but also really excited by the thought that my baby was now considered viable! It was about the same time the BBC had a documentary on premature babies, so there were a few articles at that time too. Enjoy the NCT sale, we'll be upset if you don't get some bargains!

whywait not packed yet, going to get hospital stuff together though sometime soon.

bebe how is your foot today?

jbells wow, cannot believe your baby is almost here! It hardly seems any time since you announced it :) I'll keep everything crossed for you - hope it all goes well.

nannyl · 13/05/2011 18:58

Jbells how exciting about monday. Good Luck Smile

Well said Whywait. Smile bebe i completely agree with WW.... stop putting him 1st.... say what you need to say. some more hugs from me XX

WW get on with NCT booking soon.... i got the LAST place when i booked at 14 weeks Shock though it may be because (as i learnt today at the midwife) we have no NHS antenatal classes here Shock..... just a tour of the birthing unit... thats it Shock. Am relieved i booked in NCT early enough, cause had i have realised TODAY (when I asked my midwife) there would be no places for me anywhere Sad
Also... (not that I'm assuming you want one) but are you aware that you ARE "allowed" a home birth. (its not mentioned in your choices, but that maybe because its not for you? which is fine Smile we can all choose)
Unless you have been sectioned under mental health act EVERY one is allowed to choose a home birth, regardless or not of what midwives / medical proffesionals advise, and say they will "allow". Of course if you are having breech triplets you would be insane to insist on it, but you still have the right to give birth wherever you like. (though its not quite as clear cut before 37 weeks or after 42)

I have done lots and lots of research on home birth and birth choices... im not going to shove it down your throats, in the same way that no one is telling me why they think I ought to go to hospital, but if you are wondering send me a private message and I'll tell you, what I have researched, which has made me decide that a homebirth is the best choice for me Smile
(& my hospital is 45 ish mins away!!!!!)

have a great weekend

MrsSatsuma · 13/05/2011 19:40

WhyWait I can't see your photo! Where is it?

bebejones · 13/05/2011 19:43

WW - You didn't upset me. You are right of course. I'm just a chicken! I hate confrontation. :(
Re: birth choices...even before the MS (ie when I had DD) I would never have considered a home birth, coz like I said I'm a chicken lol I was in a similar position to you with options though. MLU about 15mins away with possible blue lights to hospital 10miles away. Or the hospital (consultant or MW units). MW in our antenatal classes sold me on the MLU when she told me 2 things:

  1. The hospital where you actually give birth gets the money/funding for you having had the baby there even if you transfer somewhere else postnataly.
  2. It would take half an hour to prep a theatre for emcs anyway & so having to go there by ambulance wouldn't have any impact. A theatre would be prepped as soon as I was on my way IYSWIM.
As it happens I had to be induced so ended up at the main hospital, and then transferred after DD was born. (which I felt a bit bad about doing as our MLU has precious little funding & has been faced with closure in the past which would be awful as it's fabulous!)

Nannyl - Shock at there being no NHS classes near you! (Not that ours were that enlightening!! Hmm)

JBells - How exciting, the first WIIT baby! :o Good Luck, hope it all goes ok xxx

Foot still a bit rubbish here, contemplating talking to DH in a bit! Confused Worried about opticians 2moro, hope it is just an eye thing!

nannyl · 13/05/2011 21:18

Still keeping fingers crossed for you bebe

squirrel sorry i cross posted with you earlier (the went out!) Im 22+5 Smile

I was too [shocked] at the no ante-natal classes, just a tour round mid wife led unit.... but then nothing really surprises me.... the MIDWIVES themselves are great... each and every one that i have delt with so far at Drs surgery and when IN hospital have been fab and i cant speak highly enough of them as individuals, but the NHS stuff here is just rubbish.... i would be so much better off in hampshire Sad

My nearest hospital is a good 45mins away (more, even a LOT more in bad traffic) although there is a midwife led unit in the local hospital about 20mins away (again more in bad traffic). I guess thats the price i pay for living on the edge of the middle of nowhere a national park...
The midwife unit more locally seems lovely and i have herd great stuff about it from the few people who i know who have used it... BUT you are only allowed the go there if low risk enough for a home-birth. (any probs, a 20 / 25 mins ambulance ride to the nearest hospital). If Im low risk enough for a home birth, then i'll be having a home birth.... and if i happen to not meet their strict criteria for home birth, I'll have a much better chance if INSISTING on the homebirth i am entitled to choose, than being allowed into the unit that wont accept me.
Also at the midwife unit Dads are allowed to stay the night and arnt evicted for 12 hours a day!... Cant think of anything worse than having to a) be in hospital (so by definition something hasnt gone to plan) and THEN b) having OH 'banned' for 12 hours of the day Sad (not sure newborns have got day / night sussed in the immediate hours after birth Hmm)..... not to mention the rubbish food (gets serious bad points from me, really not good at all, unlike my 2 local hospitals down south, where i have spent a fair amount of time and have no complaints what so ever about the food they serve.... its positively NICE!)

jbells · 13/05/2011 21:57
