oh nannyl i am sooo sorry he really should be trying to be a bit more symapathetic :( nobodywould choose to be ill and it is not all in your head! some men arnt good and dont like there partners to be sick and deal with it in a horrible way for some reason. i remember afta i had DD and was really ill and gradually getting worse because of the swab being left in me, i was in so much constant pain it was unbearable i went upstairs and sobbed, he came up and asked wot was wrong and i told him i cant deal with the pain anymore....his answer was i think you must have a really low pain threshold i wanted to kill him. as if he had any idea wot it felt like!

do u have any friends that mite come over and look after u for a few hours and try and make u smile rather than blame u for being ill?

((((hugs)))

nannyl · 05/02/2011 12:41

no

all of my freinds live down south 250miles away...

i left everyone and everything to be here with OH

jbells · 05/02/2011 12:47

:( where are u based, maybe your mum could come and stay with u for a few days or a best friend from where u used to live

jbells · 05/02/2011 12:47

if i lived close id post u a travel sickness band thru the door

nannyl · 05/02/2011 13:17

thanks

my mum offered to come up this weekend but i told her not to worry

i said to OH today i wished she was here... he said that id be better off down south with her if he wanted to be with her as, he was useless

Yes me saying "wish my mum was here" meant (in his opinion) "that he was useless"

thanks

I got dressed and made it downstairs and got my keys and was about to drive into town myself, but OH stopped me and at that point phoned his mum to come and drive him as i clearly cant drive...

No i can barely stand up.... i feel completely wobbly, probably because ive barely eaten kept down a thing for almost 2 weeks, and the last decent meal i kept down was last Saturday (which was a one off, since the previous Monday!)

On a + note i ate breakfast an hour ago and drank 250ml water.... have NOT vomited it back (yet) so if when i do, at least some will have been in my stomach long enough to digest and give my body some calories Grin

bebejones · 05/02/2011 13:25

Nannyl - I am so Angry at your OH! How dare he?!?!! I had no idea about hyperemesis & I was exactly like you are (minus the hospitilisation coz the thought of it was terrifying) and there is no way you would choose to be feeling like that. It is debilitating! I couldn't move because I felt so sick then eventually I couldn't move because I felt so weak through not eating & puking up dried blood for days. I think at one point I actually thought I was dying! I probably have some travel bands somewhere if you would like me to post them to you just PM me.

bebejones · 05/02/2011 13:33

Just told my DH about what your OH said! His face was actually like this Shock. For all his faults he is the best Florence Nightingale!! He used to bring me little treats to 'tempt' me & would come home from work & clean out my sick bowl, sit with me and watch films & he slept on the sofa for months so that he wouldn't disturb me!

Good that you have managed to keep something down...for now. Eat what you fancy when you can, you need the calories. Sending you big virtual

nannyl · 05/02/2011 13:36

thanks so much

OH and his mum are getting them now so should be able to try them soon.

I know what you mean... on Tuesday / Wednesday i felt like i was dying too.... i really really did

was so dehydrated..... i could vomit blood, and pee blood but even when they had managed to get the line into my vein they couldnt even suck out any blood with a syringe! (they had to wait until later when id had 3 litres of fluid!)

i CANT 'make' that happen.... also cant make my body digest itself
OH seems to think its in my mind.. GRRRRRR

bebejones · 05/02/2011 13:49

Yes obviously, because of course in your mind you really want to feel like you are dying! Hmm

The travel bands took the edge off a bit for me, but did stop working after I had been wearing them 24/7 for a couple of weeks! Really hope they help. It's good your GP has given you something, mine refused & said it was surgery practise not to prescribe anything like that during pregnancy! Hmm If it happens to me again I shall be insisting on medication, can't feel like that with a toddler to care for!

strawberrypie · 05/02/2011 16:59

I'm shocked at your OH's behaviour Nannyl! Yes he must be feeling helpless and frustrated but that's no reason to take it out on you! And when you give him somehing to do that might actually help (get the bands) he drags his feet! Serious words needed and poor you can hardly speak never mind give him what for!

I live not far from Glossop if that is anywhere near you and I'd be happy to come over for a chat tomorrow tea time if you wanted me too xxx

strawberrypie · 05/02/2011 17:01

Also, I forgot to say- I hope you are ok Jbells

AmandaCooper · 06/02/2011 10:58

I think this just goes to show that with this terrifying baby making business everyone has a bad day, gets stressed out and handles things badly sometimes, even if they're normally a sweet, lovely DP. Has he apologised yet? Give him a kick up the backside, nannyl.

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 06/02/2011 11:38

How are you doing nannyl?

nannyl · 06/02/2011 13:48

Good morning

am feeling quite a bit better actually Smile

i vomited alot of my tea (spag bol) but i dont think all of it. Also had a yog, ice ceam and choc and kept that down. Smile

i feel my bands might be working i bit.

I have no energy and feel dizzy and am still in bed, but having hardly eaten much for over a week i cant expect to be full of energy...
I feel week and still feel dizzy even lieing down.

I had a few mouthfuls of breakfast but stopped as i knew any more would have made me sick.... but at least i had some

not vomited (yet) today.

More good news is that my Dad is adament that if i need rehydration again im to go to our local private hospital (about 20 / 25min drive away) and he will pay.

Also in the event i cant have my home birth on NHS (which is my plan)... say i have to be induced or baby is breech etc, then he'l pay for me to go private too.

at least ill have (nice edible) food bought to me and not need to wait nearly 5 hours for a drip when dehydrated.
Will also have own room and TV and be much easier to get to.

Im sure someone asked which hospital... yes it is in a place beinging with H (that shares its name with one of the big highstreet banks)

OH very sorry and understands its not my fault and theres nothing i can do about it.
I know he was feeling really really crap yesturday, and he seems a bit better today. (think his mum had words too Wink)

strawberry you are very kind... Glossop not a million miles from here but not next door either.... im near holmfirth / huddersfield.

lots of love to everyone and hope to read through and catch up on a whole week of posting tomorrow!

strawberrypie · 06/02/2011 13:57

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better Nannyl. What fantastic news about going private if necessary, I bet that takes a load off your mind x

bebejones · 06/02/2011 14:08

Nannyl - that's good news. :) glad you have managed to eat a little too. Little and often. Don't push yourself with big meals. Glad OH is being more understanding!

Much excitement here that DD has done a 'number 2' in the toilet yesterday & today!! :o So sad I know, but these things are momentous occasions!! Wink Roll on half term when potty training take 3 shall commence...and succeed!

Had a really rubbish night & was still awake at 3.30am, was on the sofa watching ER at midnight! Probably had about 3.5hours sleep. Just couldn't switch off & was feeling rotten. Really getting myself worked up about the consultants this week. Not good when I still have a few more days to go!

squirrel007 · 06/02/2011 17:15

jbells how are things with you today?

bebe sounds painful! Hope you start to feel better soon :) When's your consultant appointment? Has your DH agreed to go?

nannyl sorry to hear you were feeling so bad yesterday, and that your OH was not being supportive. I hope it's just that he's at a bit of a loss, and not that he really thinks you're making yourself sick. But it is good that you're keeping some things down today, and that your dad has offered the private care :)

DH and I have been out looking at prams today, and I am still a bit confused about what to get! I thought it'd be good to have a carrycot/stroller system thing, and the baby could sleep in the carrycot as there's no room for a cot in our bedroom. But then when I looked online it said babies shouldn't sleep in the carrycot overnight. And babies can't stay in a carseat for more than a couple of hours. So does that mean you need a carrycot, pushchair, carseat and a moses basket for overnight?! It all seems a bit much Confused

bebejones · 06/02/2011 18:46

Evening!

What a day! So much going on here my head hurts (and that's on top of the cold & no sleep)

DH isn't coming to consultant, he can't get away from work! :( but in some ways :)

Squirrel - with DD we had a car seat that fit onto a stroller. Didn't have a carrycot as we didn't walk around lots & she would only have been in it for such a short while it seemed like a waste for us. Depends how much walking around you are planning to do. We had a moses basket (which lasted for about 4.5months before she outgrew it & had to go in her own room as we couldn't fit a cot in our room, and bear in mind she was not a big baby!) She spent alot of time at home in her rocker chair thingy. Worth it's weight on gold & for ages was the only thing she would sleep in at all! It's sucha minefield. You need to work out what you are going to be doing when you use it. If you drive alot then one that is easy to fold and fit in your car & chuck the car seat ( usually with sleeping baby) onto for quick trips round shops might be best. If you will be out walking around with baby alot then a carry cot would be beneficial. If I get to buy another travel system I think I'll go for a fram that you can fit a car seat onto & also get the buggy/seat part that will lie flat as well as sit up. Sort of a seat/carrycot all in one IYSWIM?

No getting around the fact that babies come with alot of kit!

bebejones · 06/02/2011 18:48

frame to fit a car seat onto!

squirrel007 · 06/02/2011 19:43

Thanks bebe :) It's really useful to know what others have done! I reckon I'll do a fair amount of walking - we live central so I don't have a car and tend to walk (or cycle!) everywhere. We might do some driving too, but that'd be with DH at the weekends. I'm thinking of trying a sling too, but I guess until baby is here I have no idea what will be practical/useful/comfortable!

Shame your DH can't make the appointment :( Have you talked any more recently about ttc?

bebejones · 06/02/2011 20:37

No, no more talking about TTC. He has a really busy & stressful week coming up & it's my fertile window so not looking like I'll be able to 'convince' him this month. Which makes me v :( EDD would have been my Dad's 65th Birthday & would have been nice to honour him a bit, miss him every day :( Always wanted to avoid a Dec/Jan baby, but now I don't care. If DH changes his mind (suddenly) next month I'll just want to get on with it!

I'd like to have a sling next time too. DH wasn't keen on me having one with DD. But I think it'd be necessary with having a toddler & a newborn. Need hands free!

This is the system I have my eye on. The seat unit can be used as a pram as well so you don't need to have a carry cot as well. Plus 10% off at the moment! Wink

strawberrypie · 06/02/2011 21:35

Well today has been one of the best days ever!

We have been zooming around telling family about the wedding which was great and when we went to tell my best friend she also had some news for us......she is pregnant!

I couldn't not tell her about our baby news too so it was fantastic- she is 4 weeks ahead of me so we will hopefully be on maternity leave together!

It is such happy news for my friend as she and her DH have been trying to get PG for 3 years and was giving up hope that it would ever happen :) :) :)

Can't stop smiling!

Hoping nannyl and jbells are ok and you get some better sleep tonight bebe.

strawberrypie · 06/02/2011 21:36

were giving up hope

jbells · 06/02/2011 21:56

evening all, im not going to bore u with my complicated love life Hmm

strawberry- wot fantastic news :) i wud love for that to happen and so nice that they r finally expecting

bebe- a friend of mine has that pram it seems very practical for walking and in and out of cars

squirral- if your doing a lot of walking something quite lightweight and that can face both u and the other way is wot i would suggest mayb like the one bebe has linked or the britax B smart. i have got the britax b dual which is the same thing practically but a double and even tho its a double its by far the easiest pram i have had to push, even DP commented on it, and u can pick the carrycot, pushchair and car seat package up quite cheap.

nannyl- really pleased your DP has bucked his ideas up and that u have kept sum food dowm

waves to everyone else

so wot do u think about my names selection for boys

luca john

isaac john

jackson john

or zachary john

???

AmandaCooper · 06/02/2011 23:45

Jbells I like them all actually, which is your favourite?
