Thanks everyone for commisserating with me over AF's visit. We all know it's for the best really, it will be better all round if we stick to the plan to try in June, it's just a matter of waiting a few more weeks. I'm only halfway through the healthy eating regime and alth

although I've been on folic acid for over twelve months it's only recently that I've been taking it daily without fail.

ShaggingWithIntent · 10/05/2011 13:54

Hey AC - sorry to hear about AF's arrival :( Mine was 3 days early so God knows what is going on!!! Think I'll try and get a thermometer and start charting to see if it helps. The issue for us is that we only have 3 nights a week together and the likelyhood of them falling during my peak fertility period is minimal. Are you on CD3 today too?

Think DH was a bit gutted we weren't successful on holiday but the good news is that he is very open to me calling him the morning I ovulate to book in some London based SWI! Bless! I've promised that we'll continure to have lots of shagging the rest of the month too so he doesn;t feel like a stud horse expected to perform on demand!

Looking at BM dresses with DSis on Friday. Only 6 months 'till the wedding so they have to move fast but I have no idea what size or shape I will be by then. Maybe I should chat with my mum about it as it would be a nightmare to get something that won't work on a bump if I am fortunate enought to have one!!!

AmandaCooper · 10/05/2011 15:55

I'm on CD2. Yes get temping at once so we can compare charts and agonise over how high our temperatures are - this is always assuming you don't get pg next month of course!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 10/05/2011 15:55

I think minipie is starting TTC in June as well.

OP posts:
ShaggingWithIntent · 10/05/2011 16:34

OK - done! Can I get a thermometer from Boots?

AmandaCooper · 10/05/2011 17:05

You can but you'll pay through the nose - get two and buy them online.

OP posts:
ShaggingWithIntent · 10/05/2011 17:19

Hmmm impatient me so it's boots on the way home!!!

AmandaCooper · 10/05/2011 17:56

Lol stock up on HPTs as well while you're at it!

bebejones · 10/05/2011 18:18

Welcome back SWI! Sorry you didn't get a holiday baby. But exciting that you are now officially TTC :)

Worried about an odd feeling in my toes now I don't want a relapse...not fair! DD has been a beast this afternoon, it's almost put me off TTC number 2!! Hmm

MrsSatsuma · 10/05/2011 18:35

Mine was about a fiver from Amazon and seems to work okay!

Have given up trying to interpret my chart - beginning to wonder if my high temps on CD12 and 13 were due to me feeling ill. Strangely I'm not too bothered as there's no way I could miss the Autumn term now anyway (which I wanted to, given that it's by far the most stressful) and also I'm suddenly looking forward to lots around this time next year (which I might not be able to do if I've got a teeny baby!). Has taken the pressure off a bit but also confused the heck out of me.

SWI - the thermometer came with a chart, but I find it easier just to write down the temps and put them into Fertility Friend later as it does all the analysis for you.

Bebe - FX for you that it's just a new prescription needed.

Jbells - sorry to hear about your DD, although it's good you're immune.

SWI - glad it's all going well so far and that you had a good holiday!

squirrel007 · 10/05/2011 18:37

Hi everyone!

Amanda an exciting few days for you! Are you and your DH now convinced that it's time to start ttc? Sometimes I think a scare is a good way to realise what you want (even if it's not pleasant to go through).

nannyl again your organisation and bargain hunting puts me to shame! And please sign me up for one of those pain free births that your friend had :) I love the names Zoe and Susie (unfortunately can't use either!).

100years sorry to hear about your headache and being off work :( I've had a lot more headaches than usual this pg, think it's an unwanted side effect! Also, 2lb doesn't sound too bad for weight gain over a few weeks. I've put on 2 stones already (at 30 weeks) so that's roughly 1lb a week Shock Mostly seems to be bump though!

bebe fabulous cakes again! I haven't read the anti-cupcake thread, but I think there's been a bit of an explosion lately in rubbish cupcakes, just because they're fashionable. The majority of cupcakes made just aren't that good. Yours however are a cut above and should definitely not be counted along with the majority ;) Hope you're feeling ok and just need new glasses.

strawberry so glad to hear you had a great wedding day :) I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures.

jbells can't believe you're almost there, fingers crossed baby makes an appearance soon to keep you from waiting around too long! Although hope the chicken pox clears up first.

Hi to SWI, mrsS and quod [waves]

Things are good here, although I think that now I've passed 30 weeks it's all starting to sink in and feel a bit more real. I'm buying stuff in earnest (did a big order of stuff from Boots the other day!) and spent a chunk of last night researching what should go in my hospital bag. Work has slowed right down so I have nothing to distract myself with, and now it feels like I'm just waiting for July to arrive.

AmandaCooper · 11/05/2011 05:37

MrsS your EWCM coincided with your bbt rise, which is a good sign. What do they say on the charters thread? I don't know enough about it to make sense of that temp spike. Switching to CBFM might be a good idea, as nannyl suggests.

Or get a kitten, my temps have been way more accurate since ours started waking me at bang on 5.30 am every morning! No sleep is probably not conducive to lots of BD though!

Bebe I hope these symptoms are just paranoia and that the optician sorts you out. Feel so bloody bad for you.

Aw Squirrel what a nice idea that my DH might become "convinced" that it's time to TTC. Resigned to it like it is root canal treatment or something is more like it! But yes from my point of view a little scare was just what the doctor ordered, it made me do a lot of thinking and realise that "we" are ready now.

Wow 30 weeks is serious stuff, how are you feeling? Are you able to sleep ok? Do you have plenty of energy? It must be so surreal! There's such a range of views about what should go in the hospital bag, if you MN for long enough about it you will find you need a few attendants to follow you in with all your luggage! But you'll be prepared for literally any eventuality!

OP posts:
bebejones · 11/05/2011 08:37

MrsS - I won't even presume to pass comment on your chart! Really not my area of expertise!! :o

SWI - How did you get on with your thermometer?! :o

Squirrel - 30 weeks...eeek! Home stretch now then! I think I packed & re-packed my hospital bag about 20 times! Everytime I thought I had it sussed I then read something on MN that listed a new 'essential' or told me that something I had packed was pointless! My only tip is, when you have got it all sorted, get your OH to pack the bag. They will probably be the ones getting stuff from it & it's much easier for him to know where to look rather than you having to say 'It's in the side pocket.......NO!!! THE OTHER POCKET!!!!!'

AC - I am so pleased that you have finally 'got there'! :) All very exciting stuff! :)

Foot/Leg definitely not feeling 'right'! :( Angry Feeling alot of resentment towards DH about the whole situation, if we had TTC as promised in Jan then I could possibly be nearly 5 months updiffed by now & this more than likely would not be happening!! At the same time I feel that it's my own stupid fault for believeing that he would change his mind & therefore didn't need to go back on my meds! Feel like such a fraud being on here while you all start to TTC & I may never do that. Hoping that optician can sort my eyes out & if leg still isn't feeling right 2moro will ring GP again & possibly start steroids!!! Fuck!!!!!!......sorry! Blush :(

nannyl · 11/05/2011 09:26

Good morning all.

jbells sorry to hear about C pox. (what awful timing) I had it when my sister was just 3 weeks old (so would have been aroud her infectious from when she was about a week old) and she was fine... and has NEVER in her life had Cpox. Hope its not too itchy. suggest eurax cream if it is

SWI welcome back, cant wait to here all the "amazing" details. Smile
Sorry to here AF arrived... though "shorter / lighter / earlier"... you SURE it wasnt implantation bleed? Hope you got your themometer and good luck charting etc.

bebe so so sorry to read about your foot. How very VERY frustrating. Perhaps this is the perfect opp to say to DH "LOOK..... we need to get on with TTC, & give him the reality check"? Good luck with GP... and STAY here please (if you can bear to?)

squirrel enjoy your last few weeks of relative peace. wow, cant believe WTTC is coming to 'nearly giving birth' for a few.

mrs S good luck charting... not sure what to make of chart, sorry.

AC sorry you had a wierd cycle but at least by charting you had some idea of what was happening.

I had some sad news this morning Sad..... ANOTHER person has died.
In the past month one of my friends found her DH dead (suicide), One of OHs great school friends, an airline pilot engaged to me married also killed himself, (about a month ago the plane he normally flew crashed (in ireland i think) and he couldnt live with the guilt of "not dieing when he should" so killed himself, at the weekend, again found by his fiance. And this morning i learnt that "another regular on my nanny forum, who, although Ive never met her, she has been a regular for years and years, she has a 3 year old, and a baby due in June, well her husband has been killed in a motor bike crash... leaving her nearly 8 months pg, with a 3 year old, and no daddy. Sad Sad Sad

On a more positive not am off to collect my birthing pool today, and go to the tip!. Joy. Yesturday postman arrived just before my trip to Sainsburys with a £12 off voucher (well 4 of them actually)... was very good timing... i got £72 of stuff, which after offers cost £61 (had been adding as i went along) then got my £12 off, and also used a couple of other coupons making it just £48. Aqua- natal was fab, and SIL passed her driving test, so we all ( SIL & BIL, BIL & SIL, and OH and I) went out for dinner to celebrate. Was lovely. (local italien). yummy Smile

Today birthing pool / tip / and attack that MASSIVE pile of paperwork / filing that is STILL looking at me!

ShaggingWithIntent · 11/05/2011 10:44

Bebe - sorry to hear about your eyes and leg. Fingers crossed that it's just a trip to the opticians and nothing more serious. have some Brew and one of your awesome cupcakes (Boooo to all the cupcake haters out there - I love them, particularly the red velvet ones..... Mmmmmm!)

Squirrel can't believe that you are at 30 weeks already! Time flies! hope that you are having fun with the shopping etc! Gret ebaying :)

I bought my BBT on the way home and did my first test this morning. As I had nothing to compare it to I googled "What are average BBTs?" and the answer came bac as:

"The average range of BBTs is between 36.11-36.5 Celsius before ovulation and 36.5-37.22 Celsius after ovulation. Ideally, a woman?s temperature will not bounce around more than .5 degrees in the follicular phase and will stay above the coverline during the luteal phase."

Mine was 36.61 this morning..... what does that mean? Can someone who charts tell me what their average pre-ov BBT is?? I am very confused Confused

nannyl · 11/05/2011 10:54

SWI i wouldnt worry too much what the temp was

what matters is what the chart LOOKS like and how the temps go up / down.
Your average BBT and everyone elses are all slightly different, its the pattern thats the same (well supposed to be)

You need to do it immediatly upon waking, while still lieing down. just sitting up will rise it a bit, and it amazed me how different my temps could be if i did it immediatley (I did mine 7am, on the dot, always, using watch alarm) and again 1 or 2 mins later after sitting up and just speaking "good morning to OH"

Just a few mins difference (even if still asleep CAN make a difference)

AmandaCooper · 11/05/2011 13:22

Mine is usually around 36.20 early in the cycle, climbing to around 36.60 after OV, but everyone's different. It's your normal temperature range that matters. Also echo nannyl's warning about moving, speaking etc. Also I find that anything more than a small glass of wine will send my bbt rocketing.

OP posts:
ShaggingWithIntent · 11/05/2011 13:38

Good advice - thanks ladies. I rolled over and took my temp. Not a word to DH and no sitting up. Maybe I'm just a warm person!!!

nannyl · 11/05/2011 15:58

Free Pg test here if you are quick enough Smile

ShaggingWithIntent · 11/05/2011 16:30

:)
I'm stupidly debating testing tomorrow as have still got spotting (Which I never have) and am feeling really nauseous. Am I insane?!?!?!

bebejones · 11/05/2011 18:28

Do it! Do it!!! Test! Test! Test!!!!!! Wink :o

Sorry that's not helpful is it?! Hmm

AmandaCooper · 11/05/2011 19:12

Lol @ Bebe. Go on just do a cheap one. A Home Bargains pack of 3 for 79p!! Should I mention that I get additional high temps at the very start of my cycle just as AF is packing up?

Nannyl I'm very sorry to hear about your friend's husband and your OH's old friend. That's terrible news. Were they still close?

You must be so excited now that you've actually got the pool in which (hopefully) your baby will be born! Are we assuming it's a girl?

MrsS how are you doing, are you in the test zone yet? Xx

OP posts:
squirrel007 · 11/05/2011 19:41

Amanda it sounds like 'resigned' is as good as 'convinced' from your DH!

Yup, can't believe I'm over 30 weeks now (31 today!), it's very scary now. Am feeling pretty good though - not struggling with the extra weight or anything, and I'm fine with sleeping. The only thing is that I can't reach my toes anymore! But that is my excuse for booking a pedicure soon :)

bebe great idea, have told DH he has to pack my bag and then I'll time him with a stopwatch till he can find stuff quickly enough! Sorry to hear that you may be having a relapse :( but if I remember, the meds wouldn't necessarily have stopped it. Please don't feel like a fraud though (hug)

nannyl all those deaths sound awful, and so tragic :(

swi I have no idea about the temp, but Maybe worth testing if it'll put your mind at rest?

bebejones · 12/05/2011 09:46

SWI - did you test?

Squirrel - meds, might not have stopped it, you're right! How exciting that you are at 31 weeks! That's gone so quick...probably not for you though lol! Wink

Nannyl - v exciting about the pool! So sorry to hear about your friends, how awful for them all :(

Well, shoot me, but I haven't told DH about my foot/leg. Have rung my GP & requested a call back, to see what he says. If he thinks it's my MS I'll tell DH, if not, I don't see the point in worrying him. He's under so much stress & I don't want to make him feel worse or make him think that he needs to be at home with me. It's not so bad, yet, so we'll see how it goes! :)
