i think ive read somewhere about avoiding baths? I thought that was about implantation

I think the issue is the bath shouldnt be too hot to raise your core body temp.
i LOVE my baths and have a hot bath every night.... i just lovel being in water and love swimming, and hope to have baby in water too Smile

nothing could stop me having my bath every night... its about the only place where i am not sick & dont feel sick, though have been sick in bath once, but only once.

No plans for weekend here. I was supposed to be down south (without OH) for big family party thing... but have not been well enough to make the 5 hour journey Sad so am here with no plans

100years · 25/03/2011 14:24

WW when I saw the doc it was a quick check and she then told me to book in with the midwife - who then came to see me at home for my first appointment.

Well, stuff with me since last wednesday when I heard baby, had a couple of shifts at work, then a busy weekend away, went to a hotel and got turfed out at midnight for a fire alarm, which turned out to be an actual kitchen fire, so stood outside in just dressing gowns for 45 mins, plus we were on the 11th floor which meant traipsing down 11 flights of stairs feeling semi naked. I must admit to being a bit naughty in that the first thing I did while the alarm was going off was to have a wee ( I would have seriously wet myself if I had not weed at that point) and then to grab my bag with my maternity notes in it, other than that I was a model hotel guest! I didn't know that my OH had requested a high floor until I asked him that when we stay there again can we not be so high in case it happens again, especially if I am all massive and bumpy! The monday had a few times where I felt like I was going to pass out, which led to me sitting on the floor for a while and at one point having some 'fake' choc(ie dairy free) was mostly fine after that until yesterday when I did it again at work, got checked over and all seemed fine, but it's the same again today, so I've booked off work and am going to the docs in a while for them to say it's a normal pg thing!

My stomach is all hard now and I appear to have the start of a bump, although to people I probably just look fat unless you know I am pg, wearing my own clothes to work now, no more uniform for over a year :)

Got a few possible names picked out :) But we won't be discussing them with others until the baby is here, the last thing I want is raised eyebrows or 'oh really' comments, when you hand baby over and say this is my son/daughter and their name people don't do that thing, but feel it's OK in pg! Not for me thanks, people can wait. And we have decided if they can tell then we will find out what colour the baby is :) Whoop.

We are going off tomorrow to see a friend and have a meal with her for her birthday, and then next week I'm visiting family for the night. Other than that it's just moosying along.

bebejones · 25/03/2011 15:30

WW/Nannyl - I think the bath thing is the same as steam room thing ie' if it's very hot baby has no way of cooling down, and your insides take longer to cool down, so I guess it'd be a bit like cooking them! Poor little bubba! :( Wink

Nannyl - interesting that you say you don't feel sick in the bath. When I was PG being in water, particularly the shower was the only time I didn't feel/wasn't sick! I used to sit on the floor of the shower & let the water run over me for ages (sometimes over an hour) just to get some relief!

100 - When is your scan? All very exciting!! Sorry you are feeling faint & wobbly :(

Have decided to try & talk to DH this weekend. Confused I really feel that the best time for me to be PG/TTC is anytime from April onwards. DH really need to strap on a pair & realise it's not all about him! This has been prompted by getting my friends wedding invite. Always thought Id be PG by her wedding in June. DD is a handful at the moment, and if I can put up with that & still want another one then this is not a feeling that is going to go away!

nannyl · 25/03/2011 15:35

Bebe i wish you all the best for this weekend.

You are so right, its not all about what your DH wants... you and your DD have opinions too, that do count.

You have been patient for so so long.

I really hopes he takes you seriously. How is BIL by the way? home from his ordeal?

bebejones · 25/03/2011 16:09

I think he is home, we are seeing MIL tonight so shall find out what's happened from her. We don't see/hear from her very often...unless she wants something Hmm so it's always a bit difficult trying to get information from her!

Really scared bout talking to DH, which I know is silly. I think it's because I want it so much & I feel like there is alot riding on it!

nannyl · 25/03/2011 16:58

remember bebe, we are all with you in spirit.... (well at least I am Smile)

AmandaCooper · 25/03/2011 17:32

I think you can safely speak for all of us, nannyl. We are right behind you Bebe, if my DH can come round anyone's can! Not that he has of course lol.

We have just set off to the festival, can't wait to get there and see all our friends and (sorry to all the pg ladies) get hammered ha ha.

whywait I got all sorts of aches and pains early on, like period pains and sometimes sharper. I read that it's all just a part of everything stretching down there. My surgery wouldn't let me see the doctor, just sent me straight to the midwife for the first appointment. To be honest, there isn't a lot else to do until much later - I've only had 2 mw appointments so far and I'm at 24 weeks now, it's just been long stretches of nothing! So just sit back and enjoy :) I second nannyl's advice of getting up to date with everything so if you do feel bad, it's easy just to sit back and let things slide for a few weeks (although fingers crossed you'll sail through).

nannyl sorry to hear you're stuck home missing out :( Hope you can find something to entertain yourself.

100years hope the docs were reassuring. I have heard that feeling faint is all part of the deal, especially if you stand up too quickly or something. I'm with you on the name thing too, think it's better to keep quiet until the baby's here, then it's too late for anyone to make comments as by then the name belongs to someone.

bebe good luck with talking to your DH :) I hope he listens and takes your point of view on board!

Amanda I am so jealous of you getting hammered this weekend Envy This week is the first time since the beginning of the pg that I have really felt the need for more than one drink! It's all a bit hectic at work with a big deadline next week, and I have no way of getting rid of all the stress. My usual ways are to drink and work out really hard at the gym, neither of which I can do properly at the moment!

Talking of baths, I don't have them very often but I have a whole load of masks and scrubs and other stuff sitting upstairs, so I might have a nice relaxing (not too hot!) bath later :)

Quodlibet · 26/03/2011 09:47

Seconding Amanda, Bebe we are all behind you.

I'm off for a family thing today, looking forward to meeting my cousin's little one. Have a good weekend all!

jbells · 26/03/2011 11:58

We're at the tidy weekender which is a dance music festival. Have done two massive nights out in a row now, one more to go. I could do with a hot bath myself come to think of it!

DH and I had a lovely chat about DC last night, I am pretty sure we are on from when we get back! Better drink some more vodka while I still can!

Glad you are having a nice time AC :)

Does this mean I will be the only WIIT left not imminently TTC?!

bebejones · 27/03/2011 13:01

Or upduffed!

bebejones · 27/03/2011 13:20

Just been 'messing around' with the chinese gender predictor online. My chinese lunar age is 30!! Shock

I would love to have a boy (if we ever get around to DC2 Hmm) and according to this, it's just not that likely until November!

bebe, scan is the 20th April, so it's a little over 3 weeks away, I'll be nearly 21 weeks when it comes! Got checked by the docs and she wasn't concerned about the dizziness, said it's one of the oldest ever tests for pregnancy when the (I think) egyptians noticed women fainting they pretty much used to be preggers ladies! How did the talk go??? Fingers crossed.

Squirrel 24 weeks, wow :) Ace.

AC hope you had a good festival :) I'm not jealous about the getting hammered, I didn't drink much anyway :) Ace news re the on for it when you get back.

WhyWait I'm 17 + 3 now :) Shock

jbells, how long are you working for?

That predictor has me at a boy, although I think I remember looking before at it and it being wrong for someone, but I'm not sure.

Went out last night and baby was having a wriggle on while we were waiting for people to arrive, at least I'm pretty sure that's what it was :) RE the dizziness, it's not too bad today :) Except when I got really hot earlier on, but I think that's to be expected.

jbells · 27/03/2011 17:07

7 wks is the minimum time i have left 9 the most but im praying for 7. Still havnt decidef on a name im still trying to get dp to agree to the only names i can imagine him having

bebejones · 27/03/2011 17:55

The thing with the chart is you have to work out your 'Chinese lunar age', so mine is 30 right until next year, even though my birthday is Novemeber. Must check what it was when I conceived DD & see if it was right! It was discovered in some tomb or something of an ancient chinese philosopher. Confused I think mostly it's a bit of fun, but I know alot of people who ahve said it was right for them!

Haven't spoken to DH yet, but have had a lovely day, even thoughhe is now working. Was going to bring it up when we fill out our Census forms later! :o

100years · 27/03/2011 17:57

Oh well maybe I'm all wrong and my lunar age is not right, will have a proper look another time. Off for a curry now :) Yum, and I'm going to have a starter as I can eat almost properly now :) Woohoo.
