EC- Palombelli seems to be working on the sofa of Quarto Grado at the mo. She's Rutelli's missis and used to do that political chat thing on L7 with that fat man who looked as if he had cake in his beard (and he had that oooh-bet-he-stinks look about him? Raving loon man politically? Editor of some fringe newspaper, help me out here Franca???) I do like Palombelli though- she was famous for refusing to meet the Queen as she was at the aesthetista and didn't want to miss her weekly botox or something.

Hmm, dd's maestra just told me whenever dd gets told off for minor infractions she reacts "excessively and screams in terror and hides under the banco". (eek, do you think maestra thinks she is beaten at home and is about to send the social round????) Will have chat this afternoon. Gah.

Franca, bet you could use lovefilm if you hooked up to Vpnuk thingy I'm always raving about (but then forget to use myself!!)

Submitted my proposals to the English school yesterday (the one in Oxford) about writing the materials this winter...they want to know how long I think it's going to take...how much money etc. I'm probably very naive but said, how the feck do I know? We'll sort it out afterwards, it's not as if I'm expecting to make my fortune. Obviously I want paying, but it's more to make my life easier in the summer with inexperienced teachers and also to keep in with the company for a potential future permanent position Wink etc etc.....

Away to sort out dregs of house.

Franca, roffling at your comment on IKEA on the MN thread!

Rosa · 23/10/2010 12:52

Oh that yucky man that gave me the shivers everytime I saw him . He looked as if he spat into his mike and anybody who camenear him. I could never stand more than 5 mins of him anyway.Barbara seems to me she has a brain and she really detaches herself from her hubby. I am guessinsg she is freelance and not a mediaset bird even thoughj she does lots of reporting for them.
Buch I am guessing you stick dd in the cupoard at home and feed her bread and water !Hope the discorso went well and you have a positive outcome.
LOL at Not giving Oxford a price I bet they were well shocked .
I have done a huge amount of boxing , sorting and more sorying today . I had huge plans for a 3 day blurge and I really started well only to be told that DH will be going to work domani and Monday so thats my time gone. He is also working next weekend so me thinks I am stuffed! I just can't get things done in the week as I have a normal life to lead!

Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 14:01

The evil fat journo is Giuliano Ferrara, one of Italy's biggest political chameleon. He started off as a left wing guy, turned into a socialist, when socialism meant craxi and not real socialism, then became a huge Berlusconiano, and in the last elections he formed a tiny party whose main goal was to change the abortion law Hmm, inspired by the American theo cons. Bleurgh.

Bucharest, bless dd, I was like that (still am in a way), really respectful to the verge of FEAR of authorities... Blush.

Gio, the very late bedtime sort of paid off, we all slept until 9.30... RESULT!

Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 14:03

Bucharest, yes, I remember you raving about vpnuk, again, dh said he'd sort it... he hasn't done anything yet, grrrrr.

Rosa, wow, I admire your organization (always have Smile

Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 16:59

Where, where can I find some nice magnetic boards? I found these, but they are over bloody budget!!! (love them, obviously)

eurocommuter · 23/10/2010 17:22

Buch oh poor dd. DD does the same. Not used to being scolded. Hope she's ok.

Good luck with your proposal. Although i have learnt now i should ask for the monet I want rather than be modest because they don't always appreciate your goodwill and end up sc**ng you. I still haven't tried though.

Franca, i've done the late night at a friends on occasions, especially in the summer. My mum would be [shocked] or ayone else in the UK. Only problem is, the few times i have done it. We have never had a lie in. They still wake up at 745-8 every morning.

Camomilla · 23/10/2010 17:25

Just wrote massive post on mobile, but in this place I should have guessed s.thing would have gone wrong! I'm in forsaken corner of yorkshire and my mood just got worse! Can't write the whole thing again, no voglia... 2 more days, che dio mi salvi before I kill someone... I thought pancera was just s.thing to wear under tight clothes or in my case it was my dads woolly one from his motorcycling days I used instead of hot water bottle for period pains... bloody dog it'd better not wake de up

BananaGio · 23/10/2010 17:39

Result re lie in Franca! Buch how did it go at school?Camo oh dear-are you at the inlaws?
Went on the Thatcher thread earlier. Why do I do it to myself?
Got DPs Zia round tonight and want to know why I have just been the one to tidy house, go to supermarket, spend ?60 on NOTHING, lug incredibly heavy trolley of nothing up hill and now have to shower ds and cook! Angry

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 17:45

Camo, what are you doing in Yorks???

My mum wears a complex structure of pancere and "bodies" to fight her maldischiena Grin

Eurocommuter, yes, lie ins aren't guaranteed in this household too, as ds tends to wake up at about 8, regardless of the time he goes to bed.
Luckily, he has learnt to play or read for about 45 mins before he wakes the rest of the family up (dd is more similar to me and dh: she takes her sleep very seriously Grin)

Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 17:46

I saw the Thatcher thread, but decided to skip it. I had already ruined 15 minutes of my life reading another: "why having children if you then use childcare" thread... grrrrr

Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 17:48

What was dh doing Gio? He has at least to do the dishes tonight, imo Grin

BananaGio · 23/10/2010 17:58

He was faffing with computer. Actually now feel guilty as he has just said I'll shower ds, make secondo (and he always does dishwasher) without me nagging. Oops think was just taking Thatcher thread anger out at him Grin

OP posts:
BananaGio · 23/10/2010 17:59

and Grinat me saying he was faffing with computer. Because the fact I was posting on mn and moaning doesnt count as faffing on pc does it.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 18:00
Grin
Camomilla · 23/10/2010 18:02

Yes, the outlaws... if I hear high-pitched "cup of tea?" One more time... though better to have come, proved why we shouldn't have and avoided the alternative which was fil at ours for 10th days... done my bit and safe to say the experience won't be repeated any time in the next 5 years! At least, thanks to dd's marathon nap, we've avoided visiting the great great aunt (known as la Regina) tonight, we've already had the mil's friend here, la Lagna... Hope for sun tomorrow so can at least take the kids on the steam train...

Lie in? What's that? Even despite the 8.5 hrs drive, arriving at 10pm, going to bed at 2am, sleeping very little, we were up before 8am this morning! Great, ds just woke dd....

Francagoestohollywood · 23/10/2010 18:05

Oh povera Camomilla! Grin at "cup of tea"

Sputnik · 23/10/2010 21:08

If my children woke at 8, that for me woud be a lie in!
Does nobody remember, ok this must've been 15 years or so ago, Ferrara and his wife did a show about sex? Can anyone think of anthing more off-putting?
Franca, surely you knew Ikea do magnetic boards, though I think only plain white, red or black ones. Funnily enough that's what I went to Ikea to get the other day with DS, but we had such fun I actually forgot them and have to go back.

Sputnik · 23/10/2010 21:27

For any of you not signed up to emails from Amazon, they are now doing free delivery to Italy on orders over £25.

Rosa · 24/10/2010 08:35

Tee hee - My order is due on Oct 28th !!!!!
Just finished the marathon this morning and was back in time for the dds breakfast !!!!!
I know my MIL wears some kind of restraining body even in summer she must boil !
Camo hang in there and enjoy the tea !
Never saw the Ferrara show about sex I couldn't think of anything more repulsive (shudder). I try not to join political threads however I am a bit [shocked] about the increase in the European budget especially as they have increased the entertainment budget and also newcars for vic presidents !Right off to walk the dds as forecast rain this pm and we have a party in the park with a small inside room .....

eurocommuter · 24/10/2010 09:33

Camo hope the weather is better today and you can get out with the kids.
Just ordered books from Book depository because the shipping was cheper( free to Italy). I should stop deleting those emails without reading them.

But i can't go on there now as i'll just end up buying stuff i don't really need. I've just spent so much on Boden's catch of the day this past week Dh will be furious at the number of packages he will be receiving this week [blush.

Rosa · 24/10/2010 11:59

My dh has given up as the parcels keep on coming in - I just have to make sure I hide the invoice slips though. Are you in the Uk this week then EC? I daren't even look at Boden as now Iam slimming down I feel I could do some damage.......With Next I felt I could justify the spend but Boden until I hit my ideal size am not sure !

Bucharest · 24/10/2010 13:03

My Boden box arrived yesterday (never done such a hooooooge order, took advantage of the catch of the day plus the 15% and made a killing) 12 t shirts, 1 skirt, 2 trousers and 1 dress (all for dd) for £120.

Been to catechism today (yes, me too, the parents had to go for girly talk with priest this morning) Must say, in comparison with all the others I've come across here, I truly like this one and am prepared to give him a chance. (he says Christian rather than Catholic for a start so I don't feel too picked on Grin)

Buggers up Sunday morning though.

Going to go and ebay some stuff now.

That is brilliant about Amazon.......

Bucharest · 24/10/2010 13:05

Meant to say, the maestra at school has told me to stop asking dd anything about school for a while, as she feels that even though for us, saying "how was it/what did you do/any stars on your work today/were you a good girl etc" is just normal interest, she feels dd sees it as pressure from us to be model student. THinking back over last couple of weeks dd has been saying stuff like "I'm the worst in the class" and moaning when her friends get a "stella" and she doesn't, and a couple of times saying "I think I might not be able to go tomorrow, I think I might have a febbre" Hmm

Hey ho.....

Rosa · 24/10/2010 13:10

Thats hard - Its automatic to ask how they are what they did etc.
I daren't sign up for Boden emails I can smell disaster.
I am miffed with Ebay - I sign up , weigh things get pics done start loading and then hey ho I have to be verified as I am abroad. SO do everything and now I have to wait for paypal to send me 2 amounts of dosh ..They have but it hasn't ben credited to my account yet( ok so it is the weekend). I wanted to list to sell so the cut off is next sunday ....
We have a nice prete as well he said he disagreed with the church about people living together before they got married as it gave them a trial ! Thing is when we move we will be further away from him so am not sure what we will do when the time comes for dd to start with the lessons.
Party in the park this pm and its loking very damp. THink I will put the dds in wellies ....

Bucharest · 24/10/2010 13:25

This prete is not our actual parish - we had to go and ask permission. The actual parish priest is a nasty old git apparently, and even his flock have nothing good to say about him....

Can't you just register with a UK address on ebay? I think that's what I did.
