Awwwww Minerva! I remember when we were in the UK and the dc's nursery had the "Christmas Tableau", the majority of the under 3s cried and ended up sitting on their parents' lap or on the lap of the nursery staff. Bless!!!

Actually, I'm currently having a bout of nostalgia for the dc nursery in the UK.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/12/2010 14:25

I wonder if Eurocommuter made it to Italy this weekend.

Rosa · 20/12/2010 18:03

She perked up and then weent really flat again with cattarh and water she did another small vomit so another Peridom as advsed by doc.
So she is missing her 1st nursery xmas party I am not taking her back to school this week I daren't risk giving this to other kids.
I am knackered with a maasive backache and she is now in bed...... I will be following soon !
SO glad your ds enjoyed the recita I adore them as they are so enthusiastic and then when they get to primary its not the same thing.I hope we are all mended for dds on Thurs!

Francagoestohollywood · 20/12/2010 19:52

Such a shame Rosa!

minervaitalica · 21/12/2010 10:03

Sorry to hear that Rosa, and I am sure she will be fine for Xmas...

Anyone in a bit of rush as far as Xmas is concerned? I will be at work until the 23rd (although planning to finish early) but still have to do 2 million things - no presents, but nevertheless stuff to do. DH is at home on Thursday, so he will ahve a list for him to do(I am tempted to make him bake the Xmas cake... is it worth the risk?) Grin

BananaGio · 21/12/2010 10:11

how's minirosa? poor DD Minerva-it is very overwhelming when they are tiny.
had a baking session at weekend with ds-who invented his own special pies called apple balls which involved small balls of pastry which had been handled by him so much they had gone grey which somehow we are expected to eat with relish on Christmas Eve Hmm. Made mince pies of which have already eaten an embarrassing number (diet well and truly on hold til Jan). Just wrapped my presents and cant be bot

Francagoestohollywood · 21/12/2010 12:48

Grin at the apple balls, I'm sure they'll be delicious.

I still have errands to run (I mostly spent this month paying taxes, school dinners bills etc. wtf?), which is a pain given that public transport is sucking at the moment (as I said, I'm convinced they cancelled some runs to save money Hmm) and tomorrow there is the festa at school.
Today we are also given the pagelle.

Rosa · 21/12/2010 13:08

Pagelle...well ??????
Apple balls will be nicer than yours ....Wink
Minirosa slowly getting better It really did knock her for 6 poor thing and I hope none of you get . I bought a Pandoro today which she spied straight away so opened it and she had a good bit and some pasta in bianco . Thing is I will get bored half way through it the Pandoro . I like the really soffice ones that melt in yoru mouth and Mr Coops is ok but its not a 'WOW' one. I like uveta but not candite so avoid panetone usually. Boh.
Sputnik must have made it as she isn't back on here yet.
I have wrapping up to do and then to food shop really for the 24tha dn 26th for dh and and thats it - SOUnds easy no as have lots of other bits to do as well . Minirosa not going back to nursery so will have her as well and rain and b***y aqua alta is forecast again in the next few days !

Francagoestohollywood · 21/12/2010 13:14

Pagelle this afternoon, after school.

Ah thank goodness she is better.
When Pandoro is a bit old or not melt in the mouth, I toast it and pour cream.

I'm listening to a live gig of Elio on the vanity fair website, so I'm stuck to the pc instead of cooking for tonight and wrapping a few more presents.

minervaitalica · 21/12/2010 16:43

Panettone hater here too! Give me pandoro any day, preferably warmed up a little bit, no added sugar, Tre Marie is the best!

Finished a big presentation today so work should be OK in the next couple of days. Cannot wait cannot wait...

Francagoestohollywood · 21/12/2010 18:38

Pagelle went very well Smile

Sputnik · 21/12/2010 20:37

Yay we made it by some miracle! Bristol airport reopened just in time for us to land yesterday, then we made it very slowly to my parents's house, it took twice as long as usual. There is about 10 cm of snow here, we needed those tyre sock things for the last bit.

Anyway we are nicely installed here, snowman built, tree decorated etc. Half the presents won't show up but never mind. Rosa I think you were right to stay in Venice, the southwest has it really bad, remember when you were umming and ahhing whether to come and I said what are the chances of 2 years snow in a row!

I now feel better about DS's recita, he was upset by all the people crowding in (the room is tiny), started crying and we ended up leaving, as it was bloody freezing and we couldn't wait outside. He was ok at halloween when they did a little thing but there were fewer people.

Gio I might be tempted to secretly remake the apple balls!

Francagoestohollywood · 21/12/2010 21:25

So glad you made it Sputnik Smile, have a fantastic Christmas... it is lovely to have a white Christmas.
My friends in E. told me that there is really lots of snow, I wish I could see some pics of the hills covered in snow.
Gosh I feel all nostalgic Sad

Rosa · 22/12/2010 08:22

Nice one Sput am pleased for you as it was looking bad.
well done France with the pagelle - nice proud mum emotion then ???
AM off to bathe Minirosa as she vomited again last night . She does still have this cough which is obviously viral as they both have it and antibiotics took the edge off so with the poco that she ate last night the cough and teh delicate tummy it all cmae up. Then again 30 mins later. 1st lot I caught literally in my hands as I caould see favourite bunny underneath and another set of bedding and gro bag going under- second we were better prepared. Doc says Peridom for 2 days to settle the tummy one hopes 100%. Poor dd1 is having to eat her chocolate in secret and minirosa is not impressed with a dry biscuit in her advent calandar pocket thing!..... Dh is stressed and grumpy and I have found 2 xmas cards that haven't been posted 1 is for our lovely prete ....Arrgghhhh

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2010 08:36

Oh dear what a mess Rosa! I hope both the dds will feel better on Christmas day.

So, what did we get the dc this Christmas then? I can't remember if we've already discuss this.

I got ds a small flipper (from Imaginarium) and an Oregon scientific globe (plus a dvd of The Witches and books)
and dd a wooden bunk bed for her dolls and the Sylvanian hedgehog family (plus books and the dvd of The little princess)

Yes, I'm very proud re the pagelle. Only problem is ds who chats all the time Hmm

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2010 08:36

I am here killing time before going to the gym. I also need to go to the Rinascente, I'm trying to put it off!

minervaitalica · 22/12/2010 09:21

Ah Franca, Rinascente on the 22nd of December... A joy! I got DD a toy kitchen (it's probably better than the old crappy kitchen I cook in. It's even got a special rubbish bin for raccolta differenziata), but little else as she has another 10-15 presents from other people so things were getting a bit silly. What are Sylvanian families?

Sputnik enjoy your White Xmas - the weather is totally miserable here (rain and more rain) and unlikely to get better.

Rosa - my heart goes out to you - fingers crossed for your DD to get better!

Rosa · 22/12/2010 09:32

DD1 is fine ( apart from this cough but its a month now ...) She is in school and in full recita practice. I should be there to do the English bit but I am not so it will be a flop... I am going to give the genitori words for the song so they can join in due to lack of practice and help the bimbi along !
My dds have .... DD1 a wooden dolls house ( amazon I want to play with it) , Pattine from decathlon, cinderella dress and extras ( from Grandma) the small bits for her stocking pens, bubble bath , books etc .
Minirosa has in the nightgarden books and mega blocks, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and a Minne mouse dress ( I will post pics as she will be soooooo cute) The dress is actually size 5-6 as 2-3 was tiny and they diddn't have 3-4 . It will be long but at least they will have a few years play out of it.
Right Minrosa washed ( and we had fun in the bath) and she is on the sofa so I am going to try to wash the floor as not sure if all my vomit drips to the bathroom were cleaned up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On my xmas list is a clothers drier I have nowhere else to hang things - over doors chairs etc but I have to wash the smelly stuff !

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2010 12:16

I went to the gym (lovely class of "postural training), but couldn't find the strength to face the Rinascente. I'll go tomorrow Hmm. Also there is a manifestazione, so no trams and had to walk back home.
Sylvanian families

Oh yes, we want pics of the minirosas in their dressing up!

giveitago · 24/12/2010 13:34

Hope all minirosas and all other minis getting over the seasonal bugs ahead of Christmas.

I'm back at work so skimming through threads.

Just having a last tidy up before staying guests arrive in two hours and I've got food sorted for 4 different types of diet!

A lovely natale to you all and I wish you all the best of everything for you, your partners and your minis and juniors.

Rosa · 24/12/2010 14:04

Fingers crossed we are out of the woods. DH and I have colds but they don't seem big ones ( yet).
Merry Christmas - Buon Natale hope everybody has a lovely time.
My box from the British Corner shop arrived and the jar of sandwich spread has been well and truly opened. ( Other things have been hidden so I can find them 'surprise' in a few weeks ( yeah right) Might try and do some mincepies later but DD wants to do more biscuits for Santa !
I have Bacon , real bacon .
Auguri to you and your piccoli !

eurocommuter · 24/12/2010 14:34

Auguri a tutti. Hope minirosa is okay. We are all down with cold and febbre here and hope we will be able to eat more than minstrone tomorrow. I made it to Italy last week. Didn't risk flying back this week so a took an extra week off.

In laws present hasn'T arrived so am pissed off as sil keeps remidng me that i'm disorganised and should have ordered it aerlier. I ordered it 2 weeks ago. it was mean to be here last week.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!!!

BananaGio · 24/12/2010 15:27

does the British corner shop send bacon????? I was all excited as thought had found something that looked like gammon so did a Nigella yesterday and turns it was a lump of tasteless pork Sad
did battle at the market to get fish this morning. almost worth the crowds just to watch the vecchiette shouting and screaming at each other re who was first in the queue, at the price increases by the ladri market stall people blah blah!
anyway have a wonderful Christmas and auguri to you all, I am off to get myself a mug of mulled wine Smile
