Siamo qua!

OP posts:
Bucharest · 28/10/2010 13:38

I don't like Hallowe'en. I didn't like Bonfire Night either. I just don't like chaos and noise. Thankfully dd hasn't shown any interest in it.

Heaving sigh of relief this morning is over....Man from Milan came (from the company I work for in the summer) to bring me brochures and talk to me about selling courses (so Little Italy, you are hereby warned, anyone asks about vacanze studio, refer them to me pretty please!!) So, of course this was the morning dd (because she'd been in trouble again yesterday Shock decides she has stomach ache, headache etc and doesn't want to go to school. I bribed persuaded her, flew home, chucked dirty washing and toys in ripostilio (sp??) ran to bank, then station to pick chappy up. Fed him a cold lunch (couldn't be faffed cooking in front of a stranger, and dp has now taken him to get the train to Rome.

Am going to lie on sofa and read Delia Christmas I think. Grin and maybe put some more things in my Amazon lorry basket.

Tomorrow (talking about things that last) I'm going to a tupperware party. Fab!

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 13:43

Oh wow, a tupperware party!!! Smile!!

Bucharest, perhaps you can help. I've been thinking that it could be a good idea to spend at least 2 weeks in the Uk during the summer holidays. I've been wondering what kind of activity the dc could do so that they can speak english, be an english environment...
Preferably in London, or a city (so that dh can go to libraries etc)... do you think it is doable?

Rosa · 28/10/2010 14:02

Is that the new Delias Christmas one ? Tell me what its like it is sitting in my wish list at Amazon. i was going to get it of M&S but they don't post things like that overseas! ( then I wimped out when I bought the dds things )
Tupperware how posh ......You will have Avon calling next .
Franca - I would look Franca at activity kind of holidyas if they like that kind of thing maybe you could be nearby or there must be some kind of family places that you could maybe stay abut only the dcs do the activities. PGL kind of thing ..Just an idea. I wouldn't want to stay with a family if it was me as you already have lots of Uk knowledge IYKWIM

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 14:08

No, I wouldn't want to stay with a family... Grin
Ideally, we could find a small flat in London, the dc could spend the morning doing something... and then we'd have the afternoon to do together all those Londony things.... awwwwwwwwwww

Bucharest · 28/10/2010 17:37

Ha ha, already had Avon calling, one of dp's new colleagues sells Avon and has sent me all the catalogues. (am a bit of a catalogue whore actually) I wanted to go all nostalgic and would have bought some of the old perfume ranges I remember from my teen years and childhood but apart from Timeless they don't do any of them anymore.

My Mum still has tupperware containers from when she got married in 1965. Grin

I'm also a new convert to Stanhome cleaning products, tupperware friend is also selling that, and I must say it's very good and the containers are very nice colours

Rosa, yes it's the new Delia- I got it from Book Depository- about £14 including delivery. It's good, in that it's a cookbook, and a Christmassy one...but it's not as gloriously food porny and house porny as Nigella IYSWIM? It's very frigidly Delia "put that there, move that here, half a teaspoon of oil, put it in a polythene bag" I almost imagine her yelling to Mr Delia in the boudoir "have you put it in a polythene bag?" before she lets him have a fiddle with her. Grin It's basically all the recipes she covered in the mini-Christmas series she did last year. She unabashedly says it's an update on her original Christmas book (which I don't have)
Some nice looking savoury pies and things I want to try, but unlike the Nigella book (where I want to try everything) with Delia I don't.

Franca, would you want the children to do an actual course?

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 17:49

Well I'm not really sure, yes, a course where they also do arts and crafts, you know, not the conventional English course, bearing in mind they are 6 and 8 and actually still speak good english.

Sputnik · 28/10/2010 20:04

Hmm, maybe you could try joining some kind of summer holiday playscheme, I'm sure you could find something, maybe start a thread.
Hey Rosa, are you in Ikea family? They are doing 20% sconto on dining tables and chairs in november.
Now I wonder how many posts I can go without mentioning Ikea again?

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 20:37

Yes, that is a good idea Sputnik.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 20:46

Oh I'm soooo proud of my IKEA family card, it is so cool, no? Grin

Sputnik · 28/10/2010 20:47

Ok, I will shut up about Ikea now Wink

Sputnik · 28/10/2010 20:53

cooler than my spesa amica card for sure.
I am quite proud of having got most of the bigger furniture items in our house on discount: kitchen, sofabed, mattress. And our shelves made from wooden worktops cut in half, which were 1/2 price in the angolo occasione. I love the angolo occasione, I scored a nice cushion cover and a box in there last time.
Ok, really will shut up about Ikea now :o

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 20:54

"That is a good idea" I was referring to the playscheme, not about shutting up about Ikea!!! Smile... have I told you already how frustrated I feel for not having a trofast?

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 20:57

When I worked at IKEA, I worked near the angolo dell'occasione! The guy in charge of it was the mito of the iKEA di Corsico!!!

I'm really smug about my sortera boxes

Sputnik · 28/10/2010 21:06

I like their new childrens line more than Trofast actually.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2010 21:15

Oh yes, those are totally cool!

minervaitalica · 29/10/2010 08:04

Stanhome cleaning products are ace! I love the liquid woollens detergent and the thing for descaling taps and sinks which makes everything shiny. Oh I am sad.

I have never been to a tupperware party though - I now feel I have lost out.

Freezing here - I have had to de-ice the car windscreen big time this am. Not looking forward to months of this...

Francagoestohollywood · 29/10/2010 08:35

Oh my mother is the queen of stanhome products Grin. I'm partial to Nuncas products, just for the packaging Hmm

I'm watching Obama at the Daily Show... I still adore him!

Bucharest · 29/10/2010 13:58

OMG, the tupperware was fabulous!
I could have spent 1,000 euro or more, but have restricted myself to a thingy that you roll pastry over, and it cuts "cornetti" shapes out that you just fill and roll up in 2 seconds instead of faffing about cutting the shapes, and a chopper (for soffrito etc) not electric, but with a cord you pull that activates the choppy bit.

I've also just blown my gasket at the woman upstairs whose washing machine has just gushed all over my almost-dry washing for the second time this morning. Non ho visto piu'. Am a bit mortified actually, and will have to hide from them forever.

Dd upset again because she only got a "visto" not a "super" Gah.

Rosa · 29/10/2010 14:23

Right am off to see how I get this card .......Have a snotty minirosa mixture of teeth and cold Hurrah !

Francagoestohollywood · 29/10/2010 14:26

Oh wow Buch, I'm Envy pf your Tupperware buys... I want the manual chopper too!

Rosa, I applied for it in the store, but you might be able to do it online... boh!

Rosa · 29/10/2010 14:31

I have a log in for Ikea to do the wish list so it says I am already registered. However I don't get promotional e mails and I don't recall every actually signing in for the Family card ....SPUT - HELP ! ( I would love the discount on table and chairs .........)

Francagoestohollywood · 29/10/2010 14:33

I don't get promotional emails as well, to think about it.

We need Sputnik!

Rosa · 29/10/2010 17:09

Very unhelpful cust service. I called and said I have registered for the 'Il mio elenco di aquisti' but not for either Buisness or Family. He said you must be buisness if you order on line - No I said its just to see availability and to make my list for the trip. He said you must be family - I never had an e mail with the number or anything from then when I registered I am pretty sure - There is nothing in my inbox. ANyway will go to the desk when I go and see what they say. Where do you see the discounts SPut ?

Sputnik · 29/10/2010 20:04

Ok, you can register for Ikea family online, or in store when you get there. The elenco degli aquisti it's bollocks that you have to register, just make the thing and when you've finished press "stampa", it will turn it into a pdf with the shelf numbers of the stuff you want. Save the pdf to your computer and print it.
If you want to save the list to add to later you do have to register though, otherwise it will forget it.
The sconto for the table and chairs just go to the Ikea family section of the site and choose your store, it should be there.
