Would anyone like a cup of tea and a muffin?

I'm tired and in need of refreshment.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

I thought that the fascinators mainly ended up sat on, behind the cushions or stuck in the aspidistra?

teafortwo · 19/11/2008 23:23

And one for Mistlethrush's ds!!!!

Tryin' ta dooo maaaaayyyy pattern recognition
Dat techer got nuffin but suspicion!

T42 momentarily whips off her cocktail dress to reveal underneath a big 1950s skirt, she removes her hat revealing a ponytail with ribbon and look down at her feet - yes - bobby socks... she swaps champagne for a glass of milk with straw and starts to jive.... of course all while still on the table!!!!!

WELL DONE MISTLETHRUSH'S DS!!!!!!!!

mistlethrush · 19/11/2008 23:29

T42 - that will do very nicely. Just need one of the 'Strictly' professionals to swing us round - dh is certainly not up for it!

BoccaDellaVerita · 19/11/2008 23:31

Mistlethrush - You clearly know all about the tea room's racy history! It is true that the first batch of fascinators were rather mistreated and met a literally sticky end, crushed amidst the muffin crumbs and spilt gin, but we have since restocked. Today, for example, I am wearing the Nicole.

I am so happy to find someone who shares my liking for 70s disco. I've get the glitter balls spinning. Shall we strut our stuff to this one?

daisy99divine · 19/11/2008 23:44

Am I too late for the dancing? I hope not, and pass the Bolly Booca

Hi Mistle, good to see you, if a bit freaky that you know all about the cafe - I note that you arrived shortly after the gardeners fab buttocks hove into view

well done your DS

If we're going all 70s, what about Gloria - you can't do disco without I Will Survive!!!

teafortwo · 19/11/2008 23:47

Wow - Bocca's on form tonight!!!

Oh... ok - it is 'the Nicole' on your head, Boc!!! I thought it was a roadkill pheasant - as I knew you had arrived in your little sports car with the roof down! T42 points to carpark...

BoccaDellaVerita · 19/11/2008 23:49

Daisy - here! A galss of chilled Bolly!

BoccaDellaVerita · 19/11/2008 23:53

That would be a glass, obviously.

Tea - sshh! Now everyone will want a lift home in my cool beyond words car (and they may start wondering how the manager of a humble fair trade tea room can afford such a vehicle).

Good night Boc - ca good night!!!!

daisy99divine · 20/11/2008 00:01

Thanks Bocca - having seen you E type in the drive, we now know why the honesty box is permanently empty!

But I am afraid having seen the amount of bolly you consume I have confiscated the keys

I knew bringing that darn plant back was a mistake

teafortwo · 20/11/2008 00:06

Just one more jazz track... because I am really feeling very jazzy tonight....

www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYSbUOoq4Vg

and then because I am an hour ahead of you lot... to bed for me as well!!!!

Good night xxx

mistlethrush · 20/11/2008 00:08

When I was repotting it I found an 'Alison' settled on it couture-headwear.hatsandfascinators.com/Elaborate . However, ds insisted that I had to have 'Ophelia' in pink , although it does tickle his nose and cause much amusement.

Dog seems OK at the moment. Might go to bed soon.

But I've jusht got time for another glassh of that rather niesh bubbly thing...

teafortwo · 20/11/2008 00:24

ok, mistlethrush - I will have one more glass with you - before going... by the way your Ophelia looks fab! Did I tell you I treated myself to a lovely Gina while I was buying yours!!! Puts Gina on and wobbles head!!! Hee heee heee!!!

Good night and bye for now!!!

bbpants · 20/11/2008 09:10

Morning! So sorry I missed last night's high jinks - must remember to log on at night (rather than just doing it sneakily at work!). I'll just recycle these bottles and then switch on the coffee machine as I'm desperate for a latte - money's in the box.

I've picked up some double chocolate cookies if anybody's interested (although looking at the place, I think one or two of you might need a bacon bap - or veggie bacon, I can do either - to get going this morning!)

teafortwo · 20/11/2008 09:57

Morning bbpants - Just a quick strong coffee and then out to my very important meeting...

Oh God... my Faaaaascinator.... oh no, oh no, oh no, where did it go????

T42 looks everywhere!!!!

Panic over I found it on a light fitting... how did it get up there???

Now I am late!!!!!!!!

Oh... looks in plants...

What are these?
Well well well
they're Bocca's keys!!!

T42 drives off to meeting in Bocca's jag!!!

Vrrrrooooooooooom vrrrrroooooooooooooom!!!!

cnutdibbler · 20/11/2008 16:05

See, one night being good and folding washing, and I miss all the fun. And tonight, instead of being here, I will be in a boring meeting which goes on over dinner, followed by a night in a central London hotel, with, it seems, imperfect sound insulation. Followed tomorrow by more meetings before I screech back home to try and get back to go out to the Worcester meet up (or axe murderers convention as DH puts it)

Can I be excused fascinator detail please ? I'm a full hat kinda girl as being on the tall side, with a huge head, they look a bit daft. I loooove hats though

Jacksmama · 20/11/2008 16:47

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

WHAT got into you all last night??? My goodness, I stay away one night and all hell breaks loose!!
If we're all buying fascinators (unless I've missed my opportunity) I'd like the Elizabeth, please. Tea, I can't believe you'd buy a Gina. A GINA, fgs!?!?! I thought the name alone was anathema in the cafe. But I may have been mistaken...
Could I have a double caramel latte please? Our plane landed here at midnight, the drive to my mum's took ages because of the snow, and we didn't fall into bed until 1:45 am Toronto time. So when DS briefly woke up at 7:30 am, we were both unhappy. Fortunately he settled again and we slept w few more hours. It's funny though, the 3-hour time difference really affects us coming east. West, not so bad except he tends to wake up quite early for a few days (shudder).
Did anybody catch the, ahem, fisticuffs on Chat the last few days??? Phew!!! I'm so happy we have a peaceful fun-loving bunch in the bar jazz club cafe.

BoccaDellaVerita · 20/11/2008 17:16

Good afternoon, ladies.

Drinks and muffins coming right at ya!

cnut - proper hats are my first loyalty too, but I have bowed to the collective will in providing an opportuntiy for mums-of-one to wear their favourite fascinators within the sanctuary of the tea room. How do these axe murderer conventions meet-ups work? Do you have to reveal your real identity or do you wear a badge saying 'I am cnutdibbler'?

jacksmama - fisticuffs? I must have missed it, although I noticed a bit of 'fings ain't wot they used to be' and grumbling about the influx of newcomers. Do they mean moi, I wondered?

Anyway, I have to pop out again but will be back later with a crate of Bolly and some kickin' dance choons.

cnutdibbler · 20/11/2008 17:36

I've only been to one so far, and I seem to remember that everyone tried to introduce themselves by their real names as well as their MN names, but then went straight back to being MN names as that was all anyone could really relate to them as. Very strange to walk into a pub, look round, try to identify who the MN group is, and then launch into a conversation about the MN topic of the day.

It was actually a great night out, as there was always something to say - you could always go back to MN stuff if the RL topic faded, and everyone sort of knew stuff that the others had been talking about recently

BoccaDellaVerita · 20/11/2008 21:36

Right. The champagne glasses are stacked in a tower. We don't have a handsome cossack, so the hunky gardener will be slicing the top off the Bolly bottle with his rapier hoe.

Meanwhile, the immortal music starts.

teafortwo · 20/11/2008 21:42

T42 shouts over the music "Hi Bocca!!!"

Nice song!!!

BoccaDellaVerita · 20/11/2008 21:48

Glad you like it!

Think it's time for a bit of glam.

racingsnake · 20/11/2008 22:12
daisy99divine · 20/11/2008 22:21

Hello ladies! Now that the gardener has got his little dibber out I thought it time to wake up!!

Cnut, don't worry re the hats, I much prefer hats, but a fascinator is, well, it is rather special

I would love to see you in a pub in Worcester with a very large head saying, yes, Cnut really....
I would never DARE go to a RL meet NOOOOOOO, it is so wrong -

JM you made me smile, actually I got the ciggy lighter to the Gina and it is now a little limp

BTW what's with chat? I never do other threads really, come here and one other thread and occasionally ask sensible questions like "what should I do cos my ds won't poo" and "what kind of car seat can be used in a camper van" To both of which I got instant and very good answers- even my DH had to acknowledge grudging respect

VERY wise Bocca to get plastic glasses for this lot

pass the bolly, I can feel a bit of an AbFab moment coming on, I am more ABFab than Adam Ant these days to be honest ....
