Weird, we have one here too Scout! Wink I have dared hang the washing out and plant out the courgettes. Have a friend coming for lunch so going to crack on with some work.

CMOT - circus was fab. A friend was in it performing and he was awesome - rode a unicycle across a tightrope whilst juggling knives!!!

Scout19075 · 14/05/2014 12:54

We got the strawberries and tomatoes done yesterday before going to swimming and the bloody rain started again. Also managed to fill in the hole in the planter across the street and planted a "wildflower seed mix" in it so hopefully we'll have some color over the summer (without me having to plant pansies again). The mix is meant to attract butterflies -- here's hoping!

SB has been on go-slow mode. I think gardening, swimming and soft play (plus scooting to & from town/swimming & soft play) yesterday has worn him out. It's given me a chance to catch up on some admin and those emails I've been putting off writing for weeks days. I am, however, about to throw us both outside so soak up the sunshine while it's here.

Scout19075 · 14/05/2014 13:04

Right, I have to ask -- what's the difference between a Flake and a Twirl?

MaudantWit · 14/05/2014 13:15

Ha! That one goes straight to my field of especial expertise! A Twirl is essentially a Flake that has been dipped in chocolate, giving it (unlike a Flake) a smooth outer surface. A Twirl has two bars in a pack and is less likely to disintegrate as you eat it.

Years of selfless scientific research went into that paragraph, I'll have you know.

CMOTDibbler · 14/05/2014 13:15

Flake is all crumbly, twirl has a smooth choc outer. I like a twirl for tidiness, but theres something about dabbing all the bits of flake up. And a flake is the only choc to stick in icecream

power cut at work.however we rent out generators and cable... business resilience. every other business on the estate has gone home. We are still all systems go.

Its a pity you couldn't rent some emergency ones out to other people nearby quickly UniS!

Lovely here - managed to have a drive out to meet someone so not stuck in the office all day - might try to make it out with the dog this evening though.

A Twirl is something I've not experienced - I got too allergic to chocolate to try them by the time they appeared. Have to stay clear quite carefully now, whereas I used to be able to have small amounts without too much of an adverse effect when I was little.

I hope your courgettes grew well Scout - I always have to grow them on a lot in bigger pots before risking them in the ground as the slugs and snails always make a bee line for them.

Scout19075 · 14/05/2014 15:34

But... but... I tried a Twirl today for the first time (got a Twirl Egg for Easter and it came with three bars) and it tastes the same as a Flake! I feel slightly cheated.

I just have to say, four year old boys children are weird.

MaudantWit · 14/05/2014 15:40

Yes, same chocolate, different format. For fans like me of Cadbury's Dairy Milk, that's no bad thing.

Scout19075 · 14/05/2014 15:45

I like Dairy Milk, too, but I guess I thought it was going to be a different bar/thing. Oh well. I won't complain I still have the egg and two more packets of bars and MrScout's egg and three bars because I'm sure he won't miss them--.

UniS · 14/05/2014 23:15

I just wolfed half a cadburys easter egg tonight. In my defence ist been a long busy day on my feet ( or driving).

We would have rented power ( or quick posibly given it away as generators work better with a bit of a load.) but no one asked, even tho it was impossible to miss the big grey box chugging gently away just outside our unit. I guess the other businesses were not as busy mid morning as we were. All three staff in today, normally I do wednesday and the office manager only does tuesday. The boss does which ever days need doing. I'm in again tomorrow and maybe friday as there are so many hires going out this week and early next.

?Goes and hides in the priesthole?

MaudantWit · 15/05/2014 00:05

Oh no, Donki. What's up?

Donki · 15/05/2014 00:15

Just MrD in a foul mood about moving out and him having to face up to reality.

MaudantWit · 15/05/2014 00:19

Oh dear. I suppose it's a good thing that MrDonki has woken up to reality - we'll leave aside the question of why it's taken him so long - but I'm sorry you're having to hear the brunt.

Donki · 15/05/2014 00:34

He doesn't shout, but he has sulking and glowering down to a fine art. The bad mood is palpable...

mistlethrush · 15/05/2014 07:46

However, only 2 days to go now....

Donki · 15/05/2014 10:06

Yes - I will miss him but it will be a relief.

Donki · 15/05/2014 11:32

Going into town to try and sort out single person council tax. Then apply for DLA and sort out child tax credit...

Aaargh!

Donki · 15/05/2014 13:48

Well, that was unexpectedly straightforward.

mistlethrush · 15/05/2014 13:58

Very pleased to hear it - have you made yourself a Brew and got a slice of Cake (gf of course) to eat in celebration?

Donki · 15/05/2014 14:44

Brew (decaff) being drunk. Sadly no Cake...

Oh! Look what Mellors has just brought through!
GF lemon and ginger drizzle cake!

Would you like some?

mistlethrush · 15/05/2014 15:22

Sounds deliciously sticky - yes please!

UniS · 15/05/2014 15:32

Hurrah for straightforward.

Hurrah for l&g drizzle cake.

Hurrah for boys tag rugby team, winners of the local inter primary year 3/4 tournament today. Somehow boy ended up on the A team after only two training sessions. Not quite sure how.

The cake is yummy - and there is plenty for visitors.

I have downloaded the form for DLA as well. I have never faced the horror of doing this before as I didn't feel we needed the money, although we should get lower rate.

Not looking forward to this one, although a colleague and a friend have offered to help.

Claim form for child tax credit is in the post.
