LushAndVerdant · 09/05/2014 22:25

Yes, I imagine it was terrifying to see/hear him fall at such speed.

Scout19075 · 09/05/2014 22:38

I think they should make warning you of the sounds & feelings that are part of injuries & sickness as part of the "training" or "education" or whatever those pre-natal classes are that the community midwives and health visitors provide.

Scout19075 · 09/05/2014 23:04

Did anyone watch that Bear Gryllis men on an island program? MrScout has it on now and I swear next time I'm going to break out the alcohol and play Bingo and I bet you anything I'll be drunk by the first advert break. ARGH!!!!

Donki · 09/05/2014 23:11

No - I haven't had the dubious pleasure of watching Men on an Island...

I'm glad SB isn't too much the worse for his misadventures. It is so frightening when they fall like that.

After trawling through the emails I only wish I could set the NMBs on MrD for real...
You would have been more than welcome to join in with the LeCreuset wielding.

I swing between deep depression, completely miserable incomprehension and incandescent fury.

Somehow I have managed not to be more than mildly grumpy with the YD.

LushAndVerdant · 09/05/2014 23:18

Oh, Donki. I can't think of any suitable words, but have a warming ear rub.

Scout19075 · 09/05/2014 23:21

Donki, I'd suggest not watching it. I wanted to shout at the television in regular intervals -- I'm not sure if Bear or the "men" irritated me more. MrScout seemed mildly amused by it so I suspect I'm going to be subjected to more of it.

To be honest, SB isn't the most coordinated of small boys so I'm a bit surprised we haven't had more injuries/misadventures. The odd scrape, lots of bruises on his legs that just seem to appear, but that's it.

Is SATs week this coming week, Donki?

Scout19075 · 09/05/2014 23:22

Would anyone like a Brew?

LushAndVerdant · 10/05/2014 02:23

Argh. Insomnia. Perhaps I should go out for a sprint on the tea room Bike.

Donki · 10/05/2014 06:53

SATS are week beginning 12th May.

The YD's school (well, the TA) spent some time going through things with the YD - he knows he has a scribe (and has practised) and extra time.

I do worry about the scribe. I know how hard it is to use a scribe well - several students at my school have to use them. It takes them ages to learn to dictate their answers properly.

Donki · 10/05/2014 06:56

What sort of Bike is it Lush?

Was it a quiet and gentle moonlit ride - or more of an fear adrenalin inducing mountain bike trail?

(And when did bike emoticons turn up?)

LushAndVerdant · 10/05/2014 08:41

I think the Bike has been here for a couple of days. I would need a nice sedate "sit up and beg" style, or possibly a tandem with Mellors doing most of the legwork. I am sure he looks mighty fine in cycling shorts.

UniS · 10/05/2014 09:09

I took the uni family tandem to collect boy from school tother day. Boy whinged all the way home , he has grown again and the tandem is now too small for his long legs.
I think this means we are now in an in between phase. He is too tall for the kiddy crank set and not tall enough for crank shorteners.

Racing ( bike) today. cricket tomorrow....busy weekend in chez uni. dh is also working from home as he has a mountain of stuff to do before Tuesday.
Can mellors pop in at lunchtime and make him a sandwich.

I have a nice sit up and beg which is feeling lonely and unloved.

I must get out on it more - it would be good for me.

LushAndVerdant · 10/05/2014 14:33

I haven't owned a bike for deleted years and haven't ridden once since I was a mature student, but have that same sense that getting out on a bike would be good for me. I very much like the idea of sitting at the back of a tandem while Mellors does the strenuous bit.

CMOTDibbler · 10/05/2014 14:53

I've been very much enjoying getting out on the Bike. DH went out on his before I actually got up this morning and returned somewhat windswept. Tomorrow is family cycle day, so hope the weather is nicer!

Donki · 10/05/2014 17:11

Had a lovely afternoon with MT, MC and Mistlehound.

Whom I am now convinced is a kangaroo hybrid.
Grin

Donki · 10/05/2014 17:15

Now waiting for MrD to deign to appear.

I ripped up one of his shirts in a fit when I found it in the laundry basket.

Aaah,
Being able to express my anger physically felt GOOD!

The rest of his clothing is safe.

For the moment.
Blush Angry

Donki · 10/05/2014 19:41

Childish maybe. But I need to express my anger soehow, or I will end up even more depressed

Scout19075 · 10/05/2014 20:05

Sounds brilliant, Donki.

Scout19075 · 10/05/2014 20:05

Who's watching Eurovision?

mistlethrush · 10/05/2014 20:09

I think that's probably fair enough Donki! What's the betting he doesn't notice anyway?

Glad you enjoyed things - I thought that the YD coped admirably - to come somewhere that's so noisy with so many strangers and do what he managed to do under the circs was really good. He seemed quite taken with mistlehound too - despite the jumping. She did the long race with the two ibizan hounds - and was made to look remarkably fast as a result! We were looking at them because they do look as though they should be able to go the same speed but they didn't have the great lump of muscle on the back of their legs like mistlehound and most of her lurchery friends.

Donki · 10/05/2014 20:20

The YD did really well - and it's the first time he's dared to get so close to a dog as big as Mistlehound.

He was highly amused by her kangeroo hops - and the antics of the two afghan hounds when they were enjoying evading recapture...

He was quite scared by the Chihuahua - took an enormous detour round it when we met it at the gate as we left!

MaudantWit · 10/05/2014 20:32

This is my new and very obvious name.

Donki - I think a bit of catharsis/direct action is just what you need. It was, after all, only one shirt.

It sounds like a lovely doggy outing.

beanandspud · 10/05/2014 20:39

I'm watching Eurovision. Mr Bean is back from trip abroad and I suspect that I may have had a couple of Wine (hic).

Glad you had a good day MT and Donki, sounds like a lot of fun.

Stupid proud moment - I have had one of Small Bean's friends here all afternoon (first proper 'leave them here for several hours with no parent' play date thingy) and we all survived!

Donki · 10/05/2014 20:40

I was very tempted to go upstairs and attack the other shirts in his wardrobe. He always leaves his shirt buttons done up and they pinged off gloriously when I got hold of the two sides of his collar and pulled hard...
