Tearoom 35: Sun, sea and sand...

This breathtakingly beautiful island has unspoilt powdery white sand beaches, crystalline turquoise waters that wash over pristine coral reefs, and verdant green rainforest.

Scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and sailing trips are available and you can discover the island's charms on foot (with or without Mellors the guide) by mountain bike or private island buggy.

For those in need of pampering the spa offers a selection of luxurious treatments to soothe and heal both body and soul.

For dining, enjoy a freshly prepared meal at the tearoom, a picnic on the beach, or a delicious dinner in the oceanfront restaurant with its stunning sea views. There is Wine, Brew and good company, everybody is welcome.

I'll have a sloe gin please, even if it is a bit early.

I'm on 'stopping dog licking paw in sock' duty... woke up a couple of times to stop her - and the second time couldn't get back to sleep.... I've had to get the dog up to come downstairs with me as DH wouldn't wake up if she started licking it. Good news is that its all looking good and nice and clean and not infected (at the moment) so just have to keep it carrying on the same until she can have her stitches out.

Here you go Mistle.
I'm glad Mistledog is recovering.

Donki · 24/12/2013 13:49

Merry Christmas to one and all!
I'm going to MiL's this afternoon - and I can't even sneak off for a quick check in here, cos my phone gets no signal.

(I have left a HUGE bucket of mulled wine on the side, with GF mince pies, brandy butter, sloe gin, Christmas cake, twiglets, and cheese straws.)

Scout19075 · 26/12/2013 21:51

Hello, UniS! Surviving this weather alright?

UniS · 26/12/2013 22:32

Weather has been survived, we got away with just a leaking conservatory. neighbours had springs appearing in kitchen wall and under living room floor. Bottom of the village were on flood alert and had their flood barriers in. But the stream peaked about an inch below floor board height ( some properties straddle the stream.) We lost power for a bit over night, but back on again by 8am christmas eve.

Was a wild and windy time. My folks place may be cut off by road from certain directions and their neighbours car was crushed by a tree.

Tomorrow we go up to in law shire. I'll be taking my new phone ( pressie from DH, so I may be able to face book and read the paper in their company - hurrah- Dh does and he doesn't get told off for it, where as my reading a book draws tuts of disapproval ( knitting is acceptable tho)

More mulled Wine fror any one, and how about a slice of battenburg roll? the cake that DH and boy made on Christmas eve, they wanted to do a swiss roll but neither like butter cream and one dislikes choc sponge. We all love marzipan... result - a roll up of vanilla sponge, raspberry jam and marzipan.

mistlethrush · 26/12/2013 23:40

Glad the house is still standing fairly securely Unis.

We have managed to survive the in-laws. Having specifically asked what nieces would eat and made the point that we wanted to ensure that there was something that they would eat, and been told that they would manage OK, they didn't. For main course Christmas dinner (goose / turkey / roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, sprouts, vege thing red cabbage, and pigs in blankets) they ate a couple of pigs in blankets only. MC ate everything.

I have done the honourable thing and gone and aunt-in-law sat (she's ill) whilst MiL went round to friends for a meal - DS and DH went too but left a lot earlier. I am doing my utmost to forgive / forget the 'incident' in the summer that upset me so much (and getting in some 'favours' in hand!)

UniS · 27/12/2013 23:32

here's another first. in the tea room while at the in laws! mil in right sulk at dinner buy she has cheered up after a few games of cheat. they have managed to give boy his Christmas present twice! but we have given one cheque back as was clearly an error. nice sil/ bil coming over tomorrow so life is looking up.

Scout19075 · 30/12/2013 11:19

UniS -- glad the house is okay and that the trip to the in-laws was good as well.

Donki -- thank you for the carrots.

Still in PiLshire. Survived Boxing Day but feeling a bit by it.

Have picked up a few 2014 presents in the sales and am planning on taking SB to one of the local garden centers this afternoon for a drink and a chance to feed the fish and a chance to escape the PiL for an hour.

Scout19075 · 31/12/2013 09:54

We are going out for the day with my PiL. SB is going slightly stir-crazy, hence the garden center yesterday and all day adventure today.

Can't believe it's the last day of the year today. How did that happen so fast?

UniS · 31/12/2013 10:23

go donki
go donki

you can get the damm thing finished by Friday. Tuck your self away in the priest hole and well we'll get mellors to bring you supplies of carrots and tea
