Tearoom 35: Sun, sea and sand...

beanandspud · 27/01/2013 20:33

This breathtakingly beautiful island has unspoilt powdery white sand beaches, crystalline turquoise waters that wash over pristine coral reefs, and verdant green rainforest.

Scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and sailing trips are available and you can discover the island's charms on foot (with or without Mellors the guide) by mountain bike or private island buggy.

For those in need of pampering the spa offers a selection of luxurious treatments to soothe and heal both body and soul.

For dining, enjoy a freshly prepared meal at the tearoom, a picnic on the beach, or a delicious dinner in the oceanfront restaurant with its stunning sea views. There is Wine, Brew and good company, everybody is welcome.

SB is always up at the half-crack of stupid.

Sounds like a successful party, Donki. What time do you get rid of the guests?

Donki · 21/12/2013 08:58

10.00
They have had breakfast, and I am chivvying them to get dressed and sorted. .. the carrot is that I will get the snake out to say hello.

Donki · 21/12/2013 09:04

I expect the YD will have a meltdown sometime today... tired and overexcited.

We had a screaming meltdown yesterday before the party, but are getting better at managing them, so managed to de-escalate and distract before it got violent (to objects, never people)

The disruption to routine at the end of term has been "interesting" and the YD has found it hard.

Scout19075 · 21/12/2013 09:49

Donki, what time is sparrow fart, approximately? I'm not sure I've ever heard that one before.

I think SB is brewing something nasty as he's getting wound up about things that normally wouldn't phase him. We've spent half the morning watching DVDs (Lost and Found and now we're on the second viewing of The Snowman).

Sounds like difficult branch of the family have deemed to grace us with their presence for Boxing Day tea. Oh joy.

Donki · 21/12/2013 10:05

I'm sure I heard them around 6.15...
:)
I need a yawn emoticon!

mistlethrush · 21/12/2013 10:14

Sparrow's fart here is 6am. It's not meant to be . The dog normally manages to stay in bed for a bit...

Donki · 21/12/2013 10:21

Scout Good luck with Boxing day!
Mistle Lazier sparrows round here then... Grin

Scout19075 · 21/12/2013 12:02

I thought they were meant to sleep later when they got older. 6-6:30 is normal time in Scout Camp. Half crack of stupid is anything before 6 a.m.

Donki · 21/12/2013 18:33

I think teenagers are supposed to sleep later...
But I never did.

beanandspud · 21/12/2013 18:52

Hello Tearoomers! I keep losing this thread but good to see everyone back for Christmas Smile.

Did the food shop at 7am today, a few bits left to get but (finally) feeling pretty organised. House cleaning tomorrow and then it will be a case of take us as you find us!

Wine and nibbles here if anyone would like to partake. SCD on in the background although the boys are moaning that it's not football.

MC has decorated the tree - so its enthusiastic rather than tasteful - although I have vetoed the worst of the clusters and did get to put the lights on...

Feeling very unprepared at he moment - but don't know what means we're meant to be catering for which doesn't help. It seems to change every day.

Donki · 21/12/2013 19:56

Mmmm
Nibbles!

Carrots all round Grin

There is a small large vat of mulled wine for anyone who wants.

And nuts.

Our tree will go up on Monday evening - I prefer it to go up on Christmas Eve, but we will be travelling to MIL's.

I love nuts... (not very donkey-like I suppose)

Oh no! Not again! Blush

Donki · 22/12/2013 19:01

?Clip clop clip clop?
?Drags large pile of fragrant meadow hay into the corner?
?Settles down in her nice soft bed?
?Looks around, gets up and makes a large quantity of mulled wine, putting a pile of gluten free mince pies and a HUGE pot of brandy butter on the side board.?

Awaits company
:)

Scout19075 · 22/12/2013 20:02

Hi Donki.

I'm laying in bed, listening to a very poorly SmallBoy and praying he is able to fall asleep soon.

Donki · 22/12/2013 20:36

Oh, poor SmallBoy - and difficult for you, listening to him.
You thought he was sickening for something - is it 'flu?

Donki · 22/12/2013 20:36

(Prayers for you and SmallBoy)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/12/2013 21:37

::Accepts mulled wine with gratitude::

Oh no, Scout. What do you think is up with SB?

Donki · 22/12/2013 21:54

?Waves at Maude?
The YD has just gone to sleep after a stonking meldltdown...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/12/2013 22:03

::Waves back at Donki::

Oh dear, Donki. I think I have missed some of the back story here. Is the YD finding life difficult to negotiate at the moment?

beanandspud · 22/12/2013 22:24

Poor SB, hope that he recovers soon. Are you at home?

And Donki, hope that YD catches up on sleep and gets back into a 'routine'. It's such a funny time of year, it feels like a long term with the children wound into a frenzy by the end with plays, parties etc. Small Bean has had a couple of late(ish) nights by his standards and his behaviour has been up and down. He did about 3 miles on his bike this morning so I'm hoping that all the fresh air and exercise will knock him out tonight.

The Young Donki is finding life (and particlarly school) very difficult at the moment.
He really struggled with the end of year 5 and the transition to year 6 - and his year 6 teacher just does not "get" the YD at all, although in many ways an excellent teacher. But he was the wrong teacher at the wrong time for YD.

Donki · 22/12/2013 23:00

It is really difficult to see your child so desperately unhappy and anxious. I just want to make everything better - but magic mummy kisses aren't enough any more :(

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/12/2013 23:04

Oh no, Donki. That sounds very distressing for both of you. Is this why you are pursuing a Statement (if I have grasped what's going on)?

Would Cake help, even slightly?
