Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

mistlethrush · 08/05/2012 08:58

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

Are you well away from any possible flooding LaBelle ?

Scout19075 · 08/07/2012 17:35

What is this gap between the rain clouds? A bit of blue? Some glowing thing in the sky? Wwwoooowwww.

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 08/07/2012 19:09

We don't actually flood, although there is a moat around the house (giant deep puddles which practically join up and mean that you can only venture outside in wellies ::shakes out sopping trouser hems as she never remembers::) However, the cess pit, pumped out at vast expense last month, has filled with rain water, so that the loos don't flush and the sinks don't empty. So I can't do any washing, we can't have baths and, far worse, we can't flush the loo. Not a good situation. Although AP forgets and lets the washing up water down the drain and DH keeps washing his hands under running taps. Hmm

I wish I could wash my hair - maybe in a washing up bowl in the sink and throw the water outside.

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 08/07/2012 19:09

There seems to be a ) missing.

Donki · 08/07/2012 19:25

Flippers and snorkel seem de rigeur at the moment

Scout19075 · 08/07/2012 20:29

bean, What sort of songs are on the DVD you recommended? I'm seriously tempted, just wondering if I can tolerate it on repeat.

mistlethrush · 08/07/2012 21:04

Sounds grim LBD - and very annoying after expensive pump out too.

Had quite a bit of rain on the way home from dropping mc off wiht my parents.

He came home on Friday completely dumbstruck as he came 3rd in the colouring competition - was so unexpected that he said he 'went black' after hearing his name... I think he meant 'blank' but perhaps even more so - everything shut down - he couldn't tell me who'd won as he was so surprised!

He went to a special children's concert with my parents this afternoon - after I'd left - and apparently was one of the very few children behaving themselves (and got some pocket money for doing so well). Hope it continues similarly!

Well done MC! Grin. It's so nice when someone else witnesses and compliments good behaviour.

LaBelleDame - that does indeed sound grim, is the 'moat' a permanent feature or do I remember correctly that you were doing a huge amount of building work?

The songs on the DVD are ok Scout, nothing that I'd heard before and although they are catchy and go around in your head they aren't as bad as most (and I have a fairly low tolerance to annoying children's songs). I do think that it was the reason that Small Bean had 'pendolino' as a fairly early word!?

Back to work tomorrow Sad. Would anyone like to join me in a final holiday Wine?

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 08/07/2012 22:07

Congrats on colouring!!!
Moat permanent, although not improved by building work.
Bean, joining you in valedictory Wine.

Scout19075 · 08/07/2012 23:46

Yay for well behaved children. Grin

Boo for rain, sore hooves, moats, floods, etc. Sad

bean, I've ordered that DVD. I'll let you know how Toddler likes it.

Am also ordering a cartoon in French. To the French speakers/those of us in France, has anyone ever seen The Big Knights (on DVD) in French? And if so can you point me in the right direction? Random question, I know.

mistlethrush · 09/07/2012 07:24

UniS - we might be leaving the dog back with my parents if it looks as if its going to poor with rain all week - as its easier to deal with just mc and not have to leave her in the car all day (again) if it is wet. Its even worse when its its a mixture of sun and rain because of the overheating potential.

I'm sure we can find things to do though - and not have a problem about having a good week.

I hope the moat situation gets a bit easier LBD!

Hiya - sorry scout we watch very little French tv so can't comment about French cartoons. All I know to reccommend is kiricou (sp?) and The Red Balloon (it doesn't have talking but is beautiful) you can watch it on YouTube.

Eccles is in deepest darkest Brittany and Milk is in Scoutshire and I am a single gal a Paris. I bought some yellow cropped jeans to match my responsibility free lifestyle... But am nervous of wearing them out of the house incase someone thinks I have gone mad!!!!

whose for tea? Xxx

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 09:49

Tea, The Big Knights is an English cartoon. Just wondering if they dubbed it into French the way they have programs like Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly. The Big Knights is one of MrScout's favorites (he's so excited they're making a feature-length film he keeps reminding me they are) that I thought it would be a fun gift since he watches other cartoons in French with Toddler.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/07/2012 19:40

::Admires Tea in her jonquil jeans::

It is soooo wet here. I am going to dig up the garden and turn it into a padi field.

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 09/07/2012 21:40

Have never seen The Big Knights. Kirikou is wonderful; my familie loves it and I often use it with classes. I think ToddlerScout is quite young (?) when younger Wriggle liked Tchoupi and Petit Ours Brun. Short episodes, everyday life.

Oxeye, is OxBoy 6 yet? I can't get my head round 6. Milk must be 6 as well?

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 23:03

LaBelle, yes, Toddler's still young -- 2.8. I'll look out for Kirikou and Tchoupi and Petit Ours Brun.

When does ToddlerScout stop being ToddlerScout and become BoyScout?

I'm hoping to take Toddler to toddler roller skating & play session tomorrow.

UniS · 09/07/2012 23:05

there are a number of Tea room 6 year olds now ( or VERY nearly 6 )

Who will be teh next wearer of teh Tea room "I am 4" T-shirt after mini thumb? Assuming there is still some life left in that T after 3 or 4 previous lives.

I've just polished off my birthday present from boy- a bar of Divine "Dark choc with Raspberries".. very nice with a mug of hot choc. Just the kendal mint cake to go and I'll have eaten all my birthday goodies.

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 23:30

I think LittleBean is 4?

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 23:38

And JB?

Scout19075 · 09/07/2012 23:40

You're all creative -- I need help.

I'm making a fishing game for my last ever Seniors meeting later this week. On the fish there is going to a challenge for the fisherwoman to perform. These are silly, active challenges such as "pretend you're a ballerina" and "skip backwards around the children's tables in the classroom." I need 12 ideas in total (12 fish) but have only come up with nine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Donki · 10/07/2012 22:05

Shit shit shit shit shit

FiL has just got the histology report from his brain tumour.
Its a grade IV GBM.

Not words strong enough.
It was bad enough last time - can we face this again?

And what are the bloody odds of both our father's getting this?

Poor YD - both grandfathers....

Donki · 10/07/2012 22:05

And I'm past caring about the aberrant apostrophe...

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 10/07/2012 22:09

Donki, I am so sorry. Sad

Was going to think about forfeits for girl guides, but now doesn't seem to be the moment ....

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/07/2012 22:31

Oh Donki. I m so very sorry.

::strokes your ears and offers you a totally inadequate for the circumstances carrot cake::

mistlethrush · 10/07/2012 22:36

((donki)) and offers of real Brew if that might be good - no MrMT or mc for two evenings....
