Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

mistlethrush · 08/05/2012 08:58

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

on a different note- girl guide forfeits...
"swim " round the room doing a gold fish impression.
wobble like a jelly fish.
crab walk across the room.
shark fin pat your head and rub your tummy ( hungry shark) at same time.

Boys dance class use as a warm up. from about 1 min in on this vid with actions.

I have just spent a part of my evening making a sail for a pirate ship bicycle... out of an old flag and some scraps of wood.

teafortwo · 11/07/2012 07:04

Oh Donk... : ( x x x x x .

CMOTDibbler · 11/07/2012 08:54

Oh Donki, thats just not fair, and you know what it means only too well. Lots of love and hugs to you. If theres anything I can do, I'm more than willing to help

UniS · 11/07/2012 20:15

UniS fluffs up Donki's hay pile with some extra sweet lovely stuff.

Its been soooo wet this summer that some local farmers have put their cows back into barns... thankfully they got first cut done so are OK for hay, silage will be no problem this winter.

May I have a proud mum moment , school report day. Boy is doing just fine, exceeding expectations all over teh place except for a few things where he meets them. He is even starting to write in school with out an adult keeping him focused. Hurrrah.

any one for petit fours and an after dinner coffee?

Donki · 11/07/2012 20:37

Uni The carrot was very welcome to crunch - I am dreadful for comfort eating.

Tea and MT, thankyou for the restorative cups of tea. It is a well know universal panacea for almost all known ills. I would love to take you up on the offer of real tea, MT, but I am a bit busy with school work until the end of term.

Maud Ear strokes are always very calming to one of an equid persuasion... :)

We may find out later what treatment is being suggested as FiL had another appointment today with the consultant at UCL. DH was wondering whether they would be doing/had done the test for methylation of MGMT to find out whether the tumour would respond well to temazolamide - but he daren't ask FiL/StepMiL because if he asks and it isn't offered at UCL, it might increase their anxiety levels. DH does some of the lab tests in Leeds....

Donki · 11/07/2012 20:39

CMOT I meant that last paragraph mainly for you! I don't suppose you know what type of radiotherapy UCL offers?

mistlethrush · 11/07/2012 20:41

Its more difficult when they're at a distance too.

Offer of tea is not restricted to this week - its up for grabs at any time during the holidays too - although it will have to fit around Mc's social life and sports camps......Blush

Unis... looking wet!

Donki - RT there is very good. They were very early adopters of several techniques, and certainly have the latest stuff that we make. I would hazard a guess that they do that test, but I don't know anyone there personally to ask. The normal course of treatment is debulking surgery, then radiotherapy, with any other drugs added in during RT when the blood brain barrier is disrupted.

Sending you (((hugs))) Donki.

Well done, UniBoy!

UniS · 11/07/2012 22:32

MT - as you head down south into the deluge... PM me with your contact details for the week. So we can work out where to go on friday next.

Not that its any wetter here than yorkshire... BUT modbury was under some feet of water at the weekend.

Scout19075 · 12/07/2012 13:42

Bean, thanks for the DVD recommendation. Toddler wouldn't rest today (don't require sleep but do ask him to "rest" for a bit, reading in his bed with his Bunnies) so I put the DVD on, which arrived this afternoon. He's currently on my lap, enthralled by the DVD, barely moving other than to tell me what sort of train he's seeing.

teafortwo · 13/07/2012 08:14

Tired, tired, tired... Sad, sad, sad... I think I'll just drink tea and read in here for the rest of the day in my head at least Sad

beanandspud · 13/07/2012 08:26

Here you go Tea... BrewBrew

Hope you are ok?

teafortwo · 13/07/2012 08:45

Yeah - I am ok... Just overworked, under-paid and.... Ready for a holiday! How's you, Bean? X

beanandspud · 13/07/2012 09:09

We're ok, ready for the weekend though. Small Bean has been pretty grumpy the last couple of days which isn't like him and he's trying everyone's patience a bit.

I think what I would really like is a day to myself to just potter on my own [dreams] Grin

Have more Brew!

kmdwestyorks · 13/07/2012 13:58

knocks politely on door and wonders if i can take up MT's invitation to join you all for a restorative.

Promising that this mornings crisis is now over.

mistlethrush · 13/07/2012 14:00

Have a Brew and grab a slice of cake kmd - what's your favorite and we'll get Mellors (the butler / handyman) to bring a slice over.

OP posts:
kmdwestyorks · 13/07/2012 14:26

ooooo, lemon drizzle or blackcurrant and lavender. High expectations on the cake front but only as i've recently discovered the joys of toddler baking don't go too far past chocolate cake.

and many many Thanks too.

mistlethrush · 13/07/2012 14:37

I think lemon drizzle is probably one of the favourites here - together with sticky ginger - and possibly a good coffee and walnut on occasions. Blackcurrant and lavender sounds interesting. UniS might use that as inspiration for an icecream (will really have to revisit at some stage UniS as Mistlechick still remembers that one we had with bits of meringue in). (And the letterboxing too) (But it might really be TOO SOGGY for that this year)

I should say - lovely to see you here, ds is an only and he's 7 and extremely energetic, rather large and talks too much. Grin

OP posts:
kmdwestyorks · 13/07/2012 14:53

he sounds lovely.

DD is 3, very bossy which could be everything to do with peppa pig taking centre stage in her life or possibly that she's worked out if she puts a yorkshire love or darlink on the end of any order she gives it brings weaker people to their adoring knees.

I cheat on the cake, it's really more a lavendar sponge with the blackcurrant and lavender jam filling and not forgetting cream. Goes great with Lady grey tea

mistlethrush · 13/07/2012 15:07

I've got a mug of that on the go at the moment. Drank the other one Wink

OP posts:
CMOTDibbler · 13/07/2012 18:22

Mmm, that sound lovely. I have 70 vanilla cake pops in the kitchen, and 50 cupcakes (choc and vanilla), and just contemplating a batch of lemon cake pops (which I have lemon meringue sprinkles for) and some strawberry ones.

Hi KMD, I'm CMOT, and I have a 6 yr old ds who is very active, never stops talking, and is a wannabe scientist/medic. I am also possessed of very frail parents, mum has dementia (of a type that primarily affects her speech and comprehension) and dad is just.. worn out really. Today he's in hospital with an unspecified heart problem, which is worrying, and I'm too far to just pop down if he'll be out again in an hour.
