Episode 33 - The Orangery - Tea anyone?

mistlethrush · 08/05/2012 08:58

The tearoom has traveled back to the Orangery for another visit. There are bluebells in the nearby woods, and Mellors has Earl Grey and Lady Grey ready for some excursions. Mellors has, indeed, been overwintering away from Canada for some reason - I think he's been helping Maud out in the garden. There are tulips out in urns outside, and there are a few tables out in the sunny courtyard for use between showers.

Whether you have one child or several, pull up a chair and share a Brew or a Wine. The only rules remains no fisticuffs.

This weeks newsletter said that y4-6's sports day would happen next week unless the field was an actual bog, and to bring appropriate clothes !

DH has gone to Le Mans with his brothers, father and two nephews. Rather him than me as they will drive him nuts

Have just got a list of who I am teaching next year. Not good.
Ability spread in my GCSE class is horrendous... plus behavioural issues.

UniS · 05/07/2012 21:55

oh dear donki.

I have labelled 100 tombola prizes. think I'll hold off tearing folding tix till tomorrow night when I'm baby sitting. Managed to say to someone tonight " yes, I am knackered, can we have this conversation next week" which was a good thing, I want to get one event over before I discuss another.

more primary school Olympic week today and tomorrow. I nearly know the mascot dance now. Still not made that GF cake, it probably won;t happen now. ho hum.

mistlethrush · 06/07/2012 09:01

Sounds a bit daunting Donki. however, they are getting older... perhaps they might get a little bit more sensible?

UniS, we can't do everything - only what we can, don't feel guilty. Folding tickets for tombola - do them in strips - half and half again, collect several folded strips and then tear all at once (my family did the tombola for years at the church fete and we normally had about 150 prizes... so I know all about it!).

Lots of expensive presents are going in to school today (last day) - mc and I did differently, found a couple of nice tins (with cockerells on) and made some biscuits on Sunday afternoon and wrapped them up nicely with a hand drawn card from mc - so whilst there's not as much £££ there was plenty of effort, so I hope that they liked them.

Is it too early for the disco ball?

CMOTDibbler · 06/07/2012 17:16

I'm sure the teachers will love those MT.

And never too early for that or Wine Scout.

beanandspud · 06/07/2012 17:43

It's nice to be back Grin

Donki · 06/07/2012 20:02

I think I'm growing gills and webbed feet....

you can't be too careful about mud fever you know.

Mulled carrot wine ?

Donki · 06/07/2012 21:23

Mulled carrot wine! A sovereign remedy for all donkey ailments... :)
Thankyou CMOT!

Oh, no! you don't think that it's not gills, but mudfever! Aaargh!

One definitely can't be too careful with mud fever - I used to find that uddercream was quite effective as a preventative in the winter. Mud fever in the summer is just not fair.

Scout - only time will tell about next year. At least I have been promised some 'technician' time next year. Not much, and completely untrained. But electronics competent - and at least they'll be able to wash up! On the downside I will have a non-specialist (Primary/language development specialist) to support in teaching year 7 science. I am looking for a CLEAPSS safety course for her... asap!

beanandspud · 06/07/2012 21:31

Scout - we went on three (!) trains today - Small Bean was in his element. Here is the link to the train DVD, I couldn't link from my phone, would definitely recommend it for TS.

Donki · 07/07/2012 11:02

It's not raining!

Scout19075 · 07/07/2012 12:13

Torch Day!

Was in town earlier doing errands and you can feel the excitement. We're having an indoor picnic then going to stake out our spots.

UniS · 07/07/2012 19:57

Its raining again here. Village fete was not a wash out thanks to a VERY large marquee, and very small bouncy castle.... hurrah. We also missed teh worst of the rain overnight / this morning. it was bad here but brief and not AS bad as further south.
Carrot and custard pie?

Scout19075 · 07/07/2012 20:35

Oh good, UniS. I was listening to the national news and heard about the weather in your neck of the woods and was very concerned for you. Glad to hear you haven't floated away.

I/We "chased" the torch through Scoutshire today. Am considering going to YOUT at stupid o'clock tomorrow to watch it do the Chariots of Fire run and/or punt.

I'm crazy, aren't I?

Donki · 07/07/2012 21:04

Don't know why I bothered taking them off. We went out this afternoon, tempted by a strange yellow ball of fire in the sky.

We got wet.

CMOT Never mind the mud fever, I think I'm getting rain scald...

CMOTDibbler · 07/07/2012 21:22

DS and I avoided the rain today, and dpony has obviously been water repelling well. Though he had his first ever fairy plait from the wind.

Speech day was 2 hours of my life I won't get back. Wall to wall Boden as the yummy mummies all dressed up massively.

On the upside, all this rain has done the grass seed a vast amount of good, and our garden is starting to look nice at last

And we saw the occupants of a house that we have long wondered about as the land around it floods easily. They were coming down their drive in chest waders ! DS enchanted by this

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 07/07/2012 21:29

All the rain was here today. Took us over two hours to do a 40 min journey home from a party this evening; whichever road we tried to ke was blocked by floods and marooned cars. Wriggle asked if we were going to die if no-one would let us stay the night Sad (we had thought of phoning friends if we couldn't get back). However, we are now at home, with a G&T, a film on the TV and have fed the menagerie. Smile

UniS · 07/07/2012 21:46

radio ballard WOW
what a fab program.

CMOTDibbler · 07/07/2012 21:57

I've been looking forward to listening to that UniS - I really enjoyed the others

UniS · 07/07/2012 22:20

there are others? where?

CMOTDibbler · 07/07/2012 22:33

Not Olympic ones, but theres been whole series of them before

LaBelleDameSansPatience · 07/07/2012 22:44

It's raining again! Shock Time for an under=water emoticon.
