Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

I have no idea - I don't know that part of the country at all - but as this is the boat of requirement, I imagine that anything is possible, especially with Mellors at the helm!

Scout19075 · 09/10/2011 20:28

Happy Thanksgiving (for tomorrow) JM!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 09/10/2011 21:39

Is it thanksgiving already??? ::Places fingers in her ears so as not to hear anyone who by chance might mention the C word::
Just dropping in to say hello - I do lurk frequently but seem to have little to offer at the moment. Are we on a cruise ship? Envy I am not a great sailor!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/10/2011 21:45

::Clasps Serpent to her ample bosom::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 09/10/2011 22:10

Rumour is, OFsTED may have been spotted close to the horizon. School work has increased from both ends of the day and is beginning to meet in the middle (of the night). And my HT is rather keen to have only Outstanding Teachers on her staff. I have rarely felt less Outstanding.

Wriggle is, of course, quite Outstanding, in her own elliptical fashion. M.Serpent is quite fine and reasonable in a grumpy gallic fashion and AP is battling gallantly on.

::With difficulty, extracts a bottle of Wine from between ample forms and waves it hospitably. Lurches with the swell and totters off to cabin.::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/10/2011 22:14

Eeek, Serpent. Have plenty of Wine.

Jacksmania · 09/10/2011 23:17

Not that that will help you stay awake, but it might improve morale :o

What is Ofsted? Is it like an accreditation/inspection thing? Eeeeek. Stressful :(

'Lo peops! I've been camping this weekend. Jolly good fun and amazingly not too cold...
like the boat effect, well dont UniS

UnSerp don't worry, in the Tea Room Boat you can't be ill. I'm a terrible traveller and am feeling fine Grin

Thzumbiewitch · 10/10/2011 01:52

Thanks JM!

It is an amazing barge/boat thing, definitely! perhaps it's more like this one:
the flying pirate ship in Stardust Gets all over the shop. Love it :)

CatherineMacauley · 10/10/2011 04:38

Aye aye sailors Grin
Very nice new place we have here then.
Happy belated birthday Donki1
Well done on the clasee JM and boo sucks to the nasty nursery teacher.
Thanks to Scout and Maud for the Muppets.

I've got bronchitus. I'm having injected anti-biotics. Tomorrow is day 5. My bum is SORE (sorry if that is TMI). Unfortunately they don't appear to having the desired effect and so it looks like there will be more -and ever more unpleasent things to come.

Ho hum. I am cheered up by the following coversation with Macjunior1:
MJ1: Mammy my foot hurts.
Me: Where love?
MJ!: Here.
Me: I can't see anything.
MJ!: Yes Mammy, that's because the wound is invincible

(obv. he meant invisible).

mistlethrush · 10/10/2011 09:51

Cat - lovely mis-word!

Donki - belated happy returns.

Blackcurrants - only good raw if REALLY ripe - at which point they become small sacks of juice - I can eat them as is, but have a very high sourness tollerance - and might be better for most sprinkled with a tsp of brown sugar (mucovado) and left for an hour before eating - sugar and emerging juice mixes into wonderful self-syruping sauce.... Its the same with gooseberries really - need a dessert variety and to ripen fully.

MC got a medal at karate on Saturday for his pad sparring the week before - he came 3rd. They must have made serious allowances for his age! However, he was speachless at getting it (something that, as you've probably gathered, rarely occurs).

Whilst MC is very much active when he's awake, he does need his sleep - particularly at the start of the accademic year. He's 6.5, but we're currently aiming to get him into bed for 6.30pm (lights out then) and 7pm at the absolute latest, and we get up at 6.30am. He had to have a nap on Saturday afternoon too as he needed a catch-up. As you say, different children require different amounts.

JM - class sounds good - and don't feel bad.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 10/10/2011 18:10

Do you think it is possible to stop being just for a little while? Sad

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/10/2011 18:24

Oh no, Serpent. What's wrong? Would Wine, a session on Mellors' massage table or a good old-fashioned rant help?

amberlight · 10/10/2011 18:37

?? UnSerp? Wassup?

CMOTdibbler · 10/10/2011 19:05

Gentle hugs Unserp.

Jacksmania · 10/10/2011 19:23

Oh, and Thanks

What's going on? Can we help?

Donki · 10/10/2011 19:34

OFSTED?

We are expecting it any time too.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/10/2011 19:36

I fear it may be a malign conjunction of Ofsted and the Demon Headteacher.

amberlight · 10/10/2011 20:22
Scout19075 · 10/10/2011 20:57

Brew ready and waiting for all in need.

Jacksmania · 10/10/2011 21:04

(What is Ofsted?)

Scout19075 · 10/10/2011 21:06

Ofsted

Scout19075 · 10/10/2011 21:06

(Happy Thanksgiving, JM!)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/10/2011 21:12

Sorry, JM, I didn't realise we hadn't explained Ofsted.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 10/10/2011 21:17

Sorry Blush Feeling a bit better now.
Was just feeling unable to cope any more with trying to manage AP, with all her panics and horrors and refusal to take it seriously because it's 'ridiculous' (and yet often being quite unable to function), and not scream at Wriggle every time she interrupts (which is all the time, because she is concerned, of course). Plus the impossibility of being Outstanding. And the fact that I have an Observed Lesson on Wednesday and can't think how to do it. And we had been so looking forward to a great day out with friends tomorrow and they have cancelled due to illness. I do need to get away, just me and Wriggle and friends. However, off to GP, I hope, with AP instead. Onward and upward.
::Holds out arms in the hope of a passing ample bosum::
Thanks for CMOT - I think things must be even harder for you.
Blush Blush at being self pitying when so many people have real problems.
