Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

Sounds like you need some - good idea. :)

::Invites Scout to join the women's commune she's thinking of founding, with Annexe for husbands::

What are you going to buy, Scout? I'm planning a big craft shop for during the week.

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 11:28

I don't need anything other than brown construction paper but I love just walking around craft shops, getting inspired sniffing the glue and looking at projects. And because MrScout doesn't really "do" craft shops (well, he'll go with me but gets antsy after awhile) I use them as my alone time.

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 11:30

Three weeks until we leave -- YAY!

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 11:31

MrScout and GrandpaScout have ToddlerScout with them outside while they try to fix the broken printer. Ahhh, almost silence! (I can hear TS squealing and squeaking and pointing to the airplanes.)

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 11:47

::Assures Scout that, given the onslaught of middle-aged spread, all dancing will be conducted while wearing substantial undergarments and other suitable apparel::

There will, though, be plenty of wine. Husbands will be admitted to the compound occasionally.

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 16:49

Will I still be able to get my Toddler Cuddles? When's not unwell/whiney is loves to give and receive cuddles....

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 16:55

Hmm. I suppose we would need to consider at what point little boys were regarded as men and banished to the men's compound, but Toddler Cuddles would be constant, wouldn't they? [hgrin]

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 16:57

My toddler will never grow up to be a big scary man! He will be a baby forever. Wink

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 17:04

Someone, please, take this keyboard away! These preprogramed tunes/rhythms are driving me insane!

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 17:11

Disabling the sound function is the only way to go, Scout!

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 17:14

Then how is he to play with the keys? Thank goodness it's a "at Nana's" "toy" though FiL asked me last night if we had one at ours. (Yes, but TS doesn't know about it and I'm not about to get it out for him.) Because the keyboard here in question is MrScout's from his yoof I think FiL was going to off-load it onto House of Scout (NNNOOOOOO!).

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 17:22

Ah, I thought you meant one of those games on the 'puter that has its own very annoying (and superfluous) signature tune. A lot of the online games The Girl plays are like that. A musical keyboard without sound would be pointless!

Scout19075 · 22/10/2011 17:27

No, this is a real, true, proper keyboard with several octaves, different instruments, pre-set beats, etc. MrScout showed it to him a few months ago and now every time we come down he askes for it to be taken out so he can play. He loves pushing the buttons and and making music with the keys. But he often walks away leaving the tune on but when you turn it off he goes back to it.

MrScout is trying to fix FiL's messed up television entertainment system and Toddler's sitting and watching going "oh dear oh dear." He clearly knows that the system is broken. Grin

Fishpants · 22/10/2011 18:59

Alright - it's Kentucky. Missouri was close!

I love the first sentence, Scout - how lovely - I hope you wrote it down somewhere!

Today was a manic day at work, I stayed late to help and got no word of thanks or so much as a look of appreciation - grrr. CD 13 and have been peeing on ovulation sticks to no avail, getting frustrated with that too. Wanted to go to this huge baby consignment sale in town but just found out it ended 5 minutes after I got home. Sad Really wanted to go today as everything is 50% off - thought of stocking up on some things...but if I hadn't stayed late to help my stupid co-workers I'd have made it. Sad Maybe I'll have a nap instead. Been an overall not so wonderful day, although the sun is shining and it's warm enough to sit outside with just a light jacket and appreciate the fact that the sun is out!!

What's everyone up to this weekend?

CMOTdibbler · 22/10/2011 20:05

Ooh, I love Kentucky. Grr to staying late for no thanks.

JM - you are loved greatly, and don't you go thinking anything else

Scout, its time for some childrens headphones. DS has some for the car with a built in volume limiter.

We've had a lovely day - ds had a great riding lesson which was boys only, and enjoyed showing how he could balance perfectly with both legs up and away from the saddle. And tried a canter, which he was estatic about. Weather was bright and dry, so hope that continues for tomorrow as I promised ds a long hack

Twiglet supreme anyone ?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 22/10/2011 20:41

Mmmm. Twiglets!
Just marking my place and inviting all you intrepid travellers to smirk at my considerable nerves at the propect of leaving tomorrow for a week in the South of France. Blush It is a bloody long train journey, though.

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 20:50

A week in the south of France? That scores 11 on my scale of envy, Serpent!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 22/10/2011 21:28

Yes, it is the most beautiful town, right on the Italian border. And in laws will put us into a hotel (circa 1975). Lovely.

beanandspud · 22/10/2011 21:42

Serpent - that sounds lovely. We went there the summer that I was expecting Small Bean and I have very, very fond memories of it.

Scout - is your keyboard the ELC one? I was looking at it in the week and wondering whether to buy it for Small Bean as part of his Christmas or whether it would drive me to distraction.

We have also had a grumpy boy today. He seems really tired although hasn't had less sleep than usual. Football this morning wasn't fun and despite trying to do some nice things it didn't get much better. He was fast asleep before 7pm so hoping that a good night's sleep and he'll be back to his usual happy self.

Oh, and DH 'accidentally' erased the recording of Strictly whilst watching football. Grrrrrrr.

Maud - do let me know when your commune opens for business! I promise to keep suitably covered at all times!

Need Wine - is there any to go with the twiglets?

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 21:48

Bean - You are welcome to wear as much or as little as you like for the commune's moonlight dancing, but I have reached the age and weight where a little modesty is required!

Ah. Wasn't expecting that.
I'll try again.

beanandspud · 22/10/2011 22:01

Serpent - Do you have room in your bag for a slightly scatty Northerner? I will behave nicely.

We loved Menton - if i remember correctly DH climbed a small hill to look at the grave of a rugby player whilst I sat and watched the boats and read my book - oh, how holidays have changed!?!

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 22:04

Hee hee! My memory of Menton is being there with my Aged Ps, their taking ages to pick a restaurant (Aged M is a very fussy eater) and eventually choosing one on the basis of a woman singing Edith Piaf numbers there. She turned out to be from Manchester. Hmm
