Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

Grin at Edith Piaf lady from Manchester being the deciding factor!

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 22:13

Well, that's just typical of my dear mama. As she wouldn't really like the food in any of them ::rolls eyes:: she chose that one because of its authentically Mancunian French ambience.

UniS · 22/10/2011 22:21

evening all. Scout would you like to borrow a big boy to entertain TS? He could bring his own music system, its got the annoying techno beats but turns itself off after 3 minutes which is nice feature.
Boy has been a VERY well behaved boy today. A right little star. He cleaned up in the village show 5-9s class as he was the only child who entered EVERYTHING he therefore managed to place in everything and amass lots of points which translated as a dollop of pocket money and a medal. He has bought himself a cheap tat toy lorry with his winnings so is very happy. Came 3rd in fancy dress and then did the evening carnival parade as part of our adult group, the youngest child walking the route, all other littles were on floats.

::UniS polishes boy's halo, and holds him up as a fine example of an only child who is confident and outgoing::

::UniS ducks and awaits flaming.::

My own show successes were less glorious, I placed 3rd in a few classes, 2nd in pumpkin carving and First in "other crafts" with the T-shirt Duvet cover. Rather pleased about that one, I knew who one of the judges was, and she likes recycling.

::Applauds the UniFamily::

beanandspud · 22/10/2011 22:39

Well done Family Unis!!!

Can you post pics of the t-shirt duvet cover, I am intrigued...

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 22:55

UniS is the tea room's craft maven, Bean. She should write a book.

::Imagines UniS as the tea room's own Kirstie Homemade Allsop::

UniS · 22/10/2011 23:20

Kirtsies stuff tends to look a bit more " craft fair" than mine.. I'm very much a bodger.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 23:24

I often wonder whether Kirstie has a workroom full of little elves who, ahem, help her make her goodies.

UniS · 22/10/2011 23:26

now why would you think that

MY house does NOT look like that. Mine is littered with bits of paper and scraps of felt and toy tractors ( plastic) and cake crumbs.

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 22/10/2011 23:35

I imagine yours has rather more soul, UniS. I do think that house looks lovely, but in that identikit quirky in the way that everyone else's cottage is quirky, with mismatched china and big letters on top of the dresser spelling out h-o-m-e or -l-o-v-e or w-o-w kind of way.

Fishpants · 23/10/2011 03:04

Yay Uni family! I'm jealous of any who can do cool crafty stuff. I've always been very intrigued by little dioramas and wish I could create them, I might have a go soon, you've inspired me.

I went to an art and craft fair a few weekends ago and there was this FANTASTIC artist who creates little tiny people and scenes to go with them - check it out, she is utterly brilliant. One of the best / funniest things I saw at the show.

I wish I had any kind of cottage to dress up nicely. Just a cookie cutter box flat here til I can scrounge up to rent a lovely little house somewhere.

mistlethrush · 23/10/2011 08:14

Morning all. I woke up at 4.30 and got up at 5 for some tea. Unusually, mc slept in until 6.40. Typical!

Well Done UniS and Boy!

JM, I know its difficult - feel free to have a rant when you need to

Thzumbazombiewitch · 23/10/2011 11:53

Hurrah for visiting beautiful places in the South of France! Am very [henvy] indeed.

UniS - how did the shortbread go? Was that one of your prizes? Congrats to Boy - he did well! (as did you of course [hsmile])

Am just watching My Sister's Keeper on tv - have never seen it and did want to but am slightly nervous because it's based on a Jodie Picoult book and she has been roundly trashed by the "Worst book Ever" thread so... well, we'll see. I like Abigail Breslin, she's good.

I also have a nasty runny nose - I think it's a cold but it's only in one nostril, how bizarre is that??

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 23/10/2011 12:50

I changed my mind about the Confessions site and posted there.

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 23/10/2011 12:51

Oh bum. That should have been on the other thread. Blush to the max.

Scout19075 · 23/10/2011 14:36

Today is Toddler's "birthday party" with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Will be back tonight after the madness of cake, balloon and wrapping paper presents.

ComeIntoTheSinisterGardenMaud · 23/10/2011 14:41

Aww. Have a good time!

Scout19075 · 23/10/2011 20:13

I think Toddler had a good afternoon, I think. Sugar train cars, anyone?

amberlight · 23/10/2011 20:37

Why not. I'll have one. Or two.

LittleDeerandMe · 23/10/2011 21:22

Hi guys!

JM - Sorry to hear you're feeling unhappy today, we are always here for you xxx

UniS - Again, very impressive!

Serpent - Wow!! A week away in the warm, how lovely.

Fish - How annoying!

Scout - How was the party?

LittleDeerandMe · 23/10/2011 21:29

We've had possibly the most cultured week of our entire lives!! Last Fri we took LittleDeer to the art gallery, on Sat me and dh went to see Nutcracker, on Tue we went to an amazing children's arts festival Baboro, we saw a puppet show called Mr and Mrs Summerflogel (or something like that) and a dance called Into the Light, and in between the two shows we went to the museum (as well as going for dnner in pizza express Grin), on Wednesday a puppet show of The Gingerbread Man was on in our local library so we went to that, then yesterday we went to Baboro again and saw Nubes Clouds (a dance show), and a puppet show of Red Riding Hood. And today we went with friends to the aquarium. Wow, crazy busy week! And tomorrow we have a playdate after school!!

Jacksmania · 24/10/2011 05:51

Um. Sorry I made such a fuss this past week. I think I must have really bad hormone problems right now because (sorry TMI but except for Dave The Hairy Trucker we're all girls here) while Friday was completely horrendous and I could have gladly knocked myself unconscious with a brick, Saturday started out moderately crappy and then got better, and today my period started and I feel like a completely different person. It's almost embarrassing how calm and relaxed I feel and I promise I'm neither drunk nor on drugs. I completely remember how utterly shitty I felt but it's like I was someone else. I find that a bit worrisome actually... anyway, I checked back on my period tracker and that appears to be the pattern, a week before my period I go crazy and turn into a demon. It would be funny if it wasn't so horrible. Not sure what to do about it but a think a visit to the GP and the naturopath are in order. This last week was so bad I honestly don't know what I'm going to do three weeks from now.
Also because that's when DH will be coming home from California (he's there for three weeks on a course) and he deserves better than to come home to this hideous demonic version of me that I was this week.

Anyway we've got "Happy Me" for a few weeks, let's enjoy it while it lasts, shall we? Wine, anyone?

Scout19075 · 24/10/2011 07:55

I've always thought Toddler's vocabulary would just suddenly develop thick and fast once it started (his friends all say things like cup, ball, apple, etc while TS says random things "oh dear" and "tickle"). After Friday's "oh dear I 'tuck" and this weekend's "hips" (chips) and "eello" (Jelly/Jello) this morning, while carrying the box of corn flakes from the kitchen to the dining room TS sang "'his is cereal, 'his is cereal" over and over. Grin

amberlight · 24/10/2011 10:33

JM, eek! Yup, doc and whoever else might have some ideas on PMT etc. If people know it's that, at least they can ignore it a bit, I guess. More tricky for younger dcs, though, yes.
