Tearoom 25 - Benvenute a Venezia!

YOu find us this time in a glorious palazzo in Venice, near to St. Mark's square, and on the water. With gondolas and vaporetti in abundance to transport us around to the various sights etc.

The palazzo itself of course has marble floors and fabulous murano chandeliers but aside of that we have the usual distressed chintz comfy sofas, assorted animals, bishops in their corner, priesthole for emergencies and a single solitary aspidistra in a bomb-proof glass cage to protect it from the ravages of a certain Canadian.

All are welcome - drop by for a cuppa, a glass of something stronger and a chat and relax in the safe and kind surroundings here.

Amber - it is a compliment. Where I come from we call children and blokes - yummy delicious and scrummy if we like them. A friend of mine who has always been MUCH cooler than me has started describing ohs, dds, dss and pets as scrummers which threw me a bit the first time I heard it!

I see Mellors has decked the balcony with bunting and prepared a wedding breakfast for us, which the Bishops and Rabbis have already half eaten, for our convenience [chmm]

I am oddly facinated by all of this and am glued to the BBC. Was seriously considering going to London today but can see so much more on the television.

I swear our vows came much later in the ceremony....

And why is her maid-of-honor and little flower girls in the same color as the bride?

And how come of some of the choir has ties and others don't?

Scout I thought it was odd they did the vows first as well. Of course, I was married at City Hall!

It's very British traditional to have the bridesmaids in white. Look in a dress shop sometime for flower girl dresses. They are always white! I think Pippa's dress is a bit...slutty...

Flower girls I understand in white, but Pippa's? Really?

I was married in a CofE Church in Berks and I swear our vows were later. Maybe my memory is failing.

Oh, Mrs Middleton did not look impressed singing God Save Our Queen!

Don't they get "kiss the bride" and "introducing" moments? Disappointed.

They do all that from the balcony in about an hour.

Yeah, I know about that, but not at the church? Bummer.

Apparently that's 'too American'.

Ooooo it's been lovely!!!! I've sobbed into a hankie and got very overexcited at all the lovely dresses and horses and the kisses on the balcony...

We had a kiss and an intro in the church....

Did they know beforehand they were getting a dukedom?

It's always assumed the Queen will bestow something like that, but they don't know what it is until she proclaims it.

Would be amused if she decided she didn't want to or the couple said "I don't want it" so she didn't offer it. I thought I had heard earlier that the couple didn't want one....

I wasn't going to watch it.
Then got glued to the TV for a bit.

The YD not in the least interested. Cries of 'look YD there are horses' or even 'look YD it's a Lancaster Bomber' had no effect. The YD just wanted us to play transformers.....

Still, got some gardening done this afternoon!

Me too, Donki. MrTee insisted as 'it's historical' and I got sucked in. LCT fell asleep and slept through the whole thing. I guess he was not impressed!

We are watching it now (have been out buying stuff, then community party). We also have huge amount of cake left over from the party - no bad thing of course
