Morning all.
Weather is behaving so have spent a while sitting at back step potting on seedlings. I have 16 straw flowers, (wth am i gonna do with them all?) 2 mystery, 1 orange daisy and over a dozen aquilegias! Sown more poppy and foxgloves too as none of them have germinated this year so far. Well poppies did then shriveled up! .I have a few that may survive.... My kitchen will be over run when i take them in!😄 Nice to get stuck in to something positive and mucky 😄
Got the others and the veg out to get sun and air too. Why do we do this to ourselves? 😁😁 Definately coffee time.
Hope you are all having a lovely day.

Thebookofcarolagain · 22/05/2026 12:37

The mystery plant in my garden that I was told was a veg is in fact my Allium bulgaricum! Found the picture card for it in my tray, I had forgotten I planted them and decided to do a quick search for the flower buds before I dug it up, phew!

Good afternoon everyone 😊
Been busy this morning. Cleaned the bathroom , cleaned the toilet downstairs, hoovered upstairs, hoovered downstairs and 2 lots of washing done. Sat watching Married at first sight USA now with a cuppa until Chelsea at 2 👏 ☕😁

Busy busy @DirtyGertiefromno30 .
I was back out and cut off all the spent pink bells, collected up the damm snails hiding in the foliage, moved a papaver from bottom border into a pot out front. There were 3 papaver which is too many for the space. (2 Self seeded) also stuck in branches to keep foliage up from the other plants. Also noticed i have lillies coming on in my bulb pots so yeah! Then noticed my baby lupins need potting up so thats next after my coffee.
I am trying to gear myself up to watch the last Stephen Colbert monologue 😭😭😭

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 22/05/2026 13:49

Sounds like a lovely afternoon with you @Thebookofcarolagain😊 .There’s something so satisfying about getting mucky in the garden, even if you end up wondering why you planted 16 straw flowers 😂 .Your kitchen’s going to look like a garden centre soon!
I laughed at the mystery veg turning out to be your Allium bulgaricum and omg it's absolutely beautiful ❤️ 😄 .Good thing you checked before digging it up. Gardening really is part joy, part chaos, part detective work!
Shame about the Poppies, they can be so temperamental. Hopefully the next lot and the Foxgloves do better. Definitely sounds like you earned that coffee ☕🌱
I am on the 3rd line of washing it is drying at the rate of knots here ! 🤣

You snuck another message in @Thebookofcarolagain🤣.
You’ve been a proper gardening whirlwind today 😄. Deadheading, Snail hunting, Papaver moving and plant propping all in one go! Good call moving one of the Poppies too. Lovely surprise spotting the Lilies coming up in the bulb pots 🌱. And the baby Lupins will thank you once they’re potted up 😁. Definitely coffee first though ☕ You’ve earned it! Oh no the last Stephen Colbert monologue really does feel like end of an era stuff🤗
You have been so busy today like a dynamite🤣.

Done my lupins. Out of 2 poss' 8" little pots i have 25 lupin babies! (Plus 2 mystery seedlings) Good gracious! If they all survive my stupid raised area bed will be blooming! I now have 8 pots where 2 pots were 😄 Put them back there as they obviously liked it. Fingers crossed. I came back into kitchen filthy and ds1 is like wear your gloves! Naw you cant move seedlings in gloves! No chance. You need to feel the compost as you are breaking it up too. Philistine!
Coffee time again.
3 loads of washing and all that housework! Have a rest now @DirtyGertiefromno30
Time to sit down and watch Chelsea for me.

Thebookofcarolagain · 22/05/2026 15:43

Was reading back in case I missed anyone and realised I have put Sue instead of Sarah when talking about her garden! How strange!

I did notice but being the wonderful person that l am l didn't like to say anything @Thebookofcarolagain 🤣
Don't worry about it l do it all the blooming time!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 22/05/2026 17:04

Blimey @Thebookofcarolagain 25 Lupin babies from 2 little pots is brilliant! 😄 Your raised bed is going to be an absolute riot of colour if they all take off. They obviously loved that spot, so fingers crossed they carry on thriving there. And honestly, Ds1 has clearly never tried teasing apart tiny seedlings 😂Philistine!” made me laugh 🤣.You’ve earned that coffee after all that. Possibly a little biccie as well 😋😁. Definitely time to put your feet up and enjoy Chelsea guilt free now 🌸☕
My old favourite baked potatoes for me for tea 😋

Thebookofcarolagain · 22/05/2026 17:24

Very kind of you not to point out my gaff @DirtyGertiefromno30 😄
Aww am pleased for Arit that she won.
I didnt do any of that advice for the delphinium i bought so fingers crossed it keeps growing!
Have brought everything back indoors! My kitchen table and counter in front of the window are half covered in pots 😁 Good job the lupins don't have to come in!
I had a corned beef and salad sarnie and crisps for my tea. Will have the last teacake (if its not gone off yet) in a minute.
Ds1 is fussing about the bathroom sink. Got him to put stuff down it. Will phone HA on Tuesday if no better.😡 its not bad just not draining very fast.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 22/05/2026 18:36

Fingers crossed the Delphinium ignores the rules and keeps growing anyway @Thebookofcarolagain!
Corned beef sarnie with crisps is a very nice tea 👍😋. Hope the teacake is still alright too, l love teacakes 😋
Typical the sink draining slowly 🙄 if it's not one thing it's another . At least Ds1 noticed it. Hopefully an easy fix if HA need to step in 🤞.
Yes l agree Sarah's garden was by far the best l am really pleased for her 😊 .
Just having a cuppa , watching the telly,
Auf Weidersehn Pet , it really takes me back 🤗

Afternoon all.
Weather still doesn't know what to do. Was sunny this mirnibgvso put all mynpkants out, then it clouded over and cooled do brought them all in cos it looked like rain, then it didn't and got warmer but no sun! So i decided to try to thin out all the big seedlings in top border. They seem to be 90% poppies! Bit of a swizz. Just a couple of others. So have moved a few about and got a few from bottom border that arent poppies. Watered them all in and all the other ones too. My Allium is bursting out the bud coverings..oooh exciting! I had to put a branch support on it as one of the stems is all curvy and was lying down, very strange😄
Clouds are gathering again and getting very grey...Just stop! It was supposed to get warmer over afternoon!
Still got last nights Chelsea to watch so that's next on my list.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 23/05/2026 17:03

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Your weather sounds impossible @Thebookofcarolagain .
Out with the plants, back in, then nearly back out again 🙄. You must be getting fed up carrying them around.
Typical that most of the seedlings turned out to be Poppies after all that excitement, but at least you managed to move a few others about and fill the gaps a bit. Everything always looks happier after a good watering too.
Oooh exciting about the Allium! I love when the buds start bursting open. That curvy floppy stem made me laugh 😄. Good idea giving it some support before it keeled over completely.
Chelsea is just the perfect reward 😁.
Been to see Mum and washed her hair left it to dry in air to cool her off, it was so hot there phew!
Took a fan there for her too and put it on . I marked it with her name because everything seems to go missing 🙄.
Popped up to Tesco to get some bits having a Chinese takeaway tonight 😋

OP posts:
Thebookofcarolagain · 23/05/2026 17:34

Ooh Chinese, would love one @DirtyGertiefromno30 but gave up on our local one.
Had 2 lots of odd left over cooked mince in freezer so taken it out to use up for tea. Not sure, might do yorkies to put it in.
Two of my succulents have flower stems yeah! 😄😄 One largish one I repotted has one and a 'smaller' but not really small one has 5 !!!! Really pleased..
Crikey just noticed the time!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 23/05/2026 17:59

Ooh yorkies with mince sounds lovely @Thebookofcarolagain actually, delicious proper comfort food 😋. Good way to use up the freezer bits too. Yay for the succulents!! 😄🌱 Five flower stems is amazing, they must be really happy where they are.
You’ve had a brilliant productive plant day. No wonder the time vanished 😊
Better shift got to get the washing in before we pick up the Chinese 😁

OP posts:
Thebookofcarolagain · 23/05/2026 18:45

Oooh it has 6 flower stems now! Yeah.
Mince heating, yorkies batter in fridge waiting on goose fat heating up.
Dont forget the washing @DirtyGertiefromno30 i did yesterday! I checked the machine last night cos I suddenly thought didn't I do washing? But it was empty so I thought oh well...I found it on the whirly this morning! 😁 Oh well it was dry!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 23/05/2026 19:40

6 stems now that's fabulous @Thebookofcarolagain. Tea sounds yummy enjoy 😋. Lol at you forgetting the washing , l don't have a whirly l have a straight washing line . l find it dries quicker here on a line tbh .
Chelsea highlights on soon 😁👏

OP posts:
Thebookofcarolagain · 23/05/2026 21:04

Yeah i dont like the whirly either @DirtyGertiefromno30 but if I changed it to a washing line when I moved where they were gonna put it it would have taken up half the area and I wouldn't have my flower beds. Once its done I might try just putting 2 ropes across from fence to fence that i can hang up when not used.
Tea was fine except it was stew not mince 😁😁 oh well. Did the Yorkie in one tin, it was a big un!
Pjs time i think.
Its getting cooler now, stupid weather.

Thebookofcarolagain · 24/05/2026 13:57

Afternoon all.
Have had lazy day and done practically nothing.
Put my pots out, dishes and thats it. Aching all over today so decided to heck with it and went on strike 😄
Cloudy ish but warmish here.
Hope you are all having a lovely BH weekend.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 24/05/2026 16:53

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Been busy today, went to see my friend for coffee this morning, then we went to the Steam engine show and came home not long ago, so tired now 😁
Sweet potato, salad and quiche for tea 😋 having a cuppa now though 😁.
Your tea yesterday sounded gorgeous l love a Yorkie made in a big tin you can rip what you want off yummy @Thebookofcarolagain 😋😁.
Glad you have had a lovely calm relaxing day , hope theachi hand soreness has gone. It's the price you have to pay for the gardening of course 🤗

Sounds like a lovely day out @bookbook .

I had my seedlings etc out and watered them. Went outside and discovered something had been digging into the pots! Lost my 2 mystery plants and a couple more. Not happy have brought them all in. Will have to try something for tomorrow. Maybe my plastic forks?
Just having a corned beef, cheese, salad roll and crisps for tea. Last of my corned beef used up 😄 ds2 is at work and ds1 will do his own.later.
Sun is full out now! But blooming late!
